I absolutely adore the Bohemian style of decorating. This is the style that makes me the most comfortable and the most happy. People have asked me how I know things will go together... My answer is "if I like them they go together." I love mixing styles and colors and prints... everything goes together in my world. When I walk into my home, I feel like I am in a warm hug!
I am an original hippy/bohemian circa 1950's😂 If it makes me happy, I include it in my decor and clothing......always changing, never the same and always eclectic. Not for everyone, but I feel that decorating from the heart is much more cathartic than going with the fads and styles of the day. I pity my children when I pass and they have to do something with my worldly possessions....I know they will think their mother was crazy, but they will also know who she was by the style she loved. ❤
I'm naturally drawn to this style, didn't realize that it was boho until I saw it on RU-vid... neutral colors, lace , wicker , macrame and big beautiful house plants.
I absolutely LOVE the Bohemian style. For years, I didn't know it. In recent years, I tried to follow that trend of all white. A couple of years ago a friend gave me a coffee table book about color. That's when I realized my life had become "all white" but with color, I truly felt alive! I've always loved plants - have many - so I began to incorporate color and texture with things I already had. Thrift store "junk" furniture...instead of trying to make it look new, I began to make it look "mine" - if that makes sense. Love it - the more colorful, the better.
So funny.. I have done the opposite!! I have always lived in colouring book 😂. Every room another colour. It wasn’t until I painted my main floor a neutral colour that I realized how much joy and calm the brightness of the room brought me. Colour, has such an effect on us, it’s so important our environment reflects who we are.
@@christinelucas1480 I live in an apartment so I have the boring off-white walls and HORRIBLE brownish carpet. HORRIBLE! 😂 I've put down large boho style carpets everywhere and use lots of live and artificial plants. We are all different. We should be friends! You visit me for a color burst and I'll visit you for calmness. 😂
I love the Boho and Shabby Chic mixture. No judgement zone. I do have a bit of Shabby Chic already. The Boho look is a scattered. But I now want to take the Boho to another level. I love the colorful Bohemian style. Yet that Shabby Chic is always calling my name in the Goodwill. Since I can never let go of either. That Shabby Chic floor Lamp that I purchased from the Goodwill. For $8.00 will fit well into my Boho Decor. So much fun. I am just getting started.
Loved this episode. I am so happy this bohemian style is becoming popular. I just love it. My home is sort of boho, but I haven't yet finished the decor. I have a lot more things to add especially artwork which has not yet been hung. And curtains plus bamboo shades. I loved all the rooms shown, except the ones with dark walls. Dark wall paint makes me feel gloomy instead of light and bright. Neutrals and bright colors speak to my soul.
If you surround yourself with the things you really love, it's bound to come out good! Why style your home a particular way in order to please someone else? 😊
I am definitely the type of person that loves the mismatched designs I hate modern clean untouched look and have so many styles I love like Rustic county, Shabby chic, hippy & Boho. 😘😍
I agree! I hate a room that doesn't look "lived" in. My aunt is a big French country person and I'm helping her find pieces that she loves right now! Thank you so much for watching!
I love bohemian style for its organic and relaxed feel. Unique pieces curated over time are the most joyous and personal. The plants give life and the varied patterns and textures provide vibrancy. Since I love to travel, I collect special finds from all over. This style can be done on a limited budget as the source of your objects can be found almost everywhere. Thrifted, gifted, or even free. However, too much can read as clutter, so I tend to be a bit more restrained bohemist with an African flair. Buy what you love, what speaks to you. Home should be your refuge, so follow your heart, not trends.
I have Boho in my house. I used vibrant colours and tans and white and creme to tone down the vibrant colours to form an eclectic look that is both pleasing to the eye and comfortable
I love and embrace the bohemian style of decor. Gallery walls, indoor wreaths, textiles, pillows, throws, floor coverings, curtained doorways, houseplants, macrame wallhangings, African-inspired art, urban-styled furnishings, quirkiness. And let’s not forget layers of fragrance. If I love it, there’s room for it here. How’s that for “no rules”? This video is so relaxing and inspirational. Altogether lovely.
Had boho style since the 70's for ease of living. In the last few years I have melded Scandi and some facets of Asian style- they fit like they were made for each other. Enjoyed your video, it got me moving things around. Great stuff.
Me to. I love color but until I began thrift shopping for Decor. I didn't know what I was missing. I thought Shabby Chic. But it is a mixture of both. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Boho chic is what I’m calling my newly styled bohemian home. In the 1970’s bohemian was a wonderfully approachable way of incorporating my love of plants and anything wicker into my new first place. At seventeen I loved my first apartment decked out in plants and colorful textiles. Never did I think at sixty I’d be playing around with a bohemian style in my new home. Bohemian a beautiful synergy between nature and coziness.
Yes!! I love to hear stories like these! I bet your place is beautiful and peaceful. Thats what I love about Home Decor, the same style you had in the 1970's, you can have now, and its still on trend (even though that wouldnt matter because you love it). So happy for your new home Debra!
Yes, I was also a new homemaker in the ‘70s. And I learned the art of macrame, and incorporated pieces into my decor. Now it seems home styling has come full circle, and I’m loving it.
Bohemian decor creates the perfect platform for personal creative expression. I do enjoy a little structure, but a palette of co-ordinates that make me feel comfy. Colour = creativity. Not too scattered. I like 3.35. Stunning window, couch, etc., but I would use different carpet.
After watching your video I believe I am already living this lifestyle. I have many of these elements scattered though my home and I’ve always been told I have too much going on. So pleased to know my style at last. Love it!
I love a lot of colour and plants, like a bohemian hippie style. I'm already having the style in my current apartment, and I'll continue with the style when I'm moving into my new apartment soonish.
Love every room! I found the one living room, with a white front door that opens up to walk behind a sofa interesting. That is my living room size and window/door layout, but I never thought about pulling the sofa away from the wall like that.
I had to go back and look at the video to see which room you were referring too, it is definitely not as common to have the sofa away from the wall, but if doe right it can look gorgeous and interesting!
Love bohemian, I go for mid tone earthy colours mostly, but some contrasts to poke us in the eyes (so to speak). Lots of antiques, either inherited or thrifted, because I'm trying to live sustainably. Nothing that can't live with a certain amount of mud from my dog. So, nothing white or pale.
My youngest child is leaving for college soon and that means it’s just going to be me. Sad, yes. Happy, yes too! My new much smaller home is going to take advantage of all the pieces I have been purchasing for years and putting away for a later date. An explosion of color is beginning to take shape! My daughter said it’s my turn now! If it brings me joy, just do it! Bohemian maximalist all the way! I loved this video. Thank you💛💛
Bohemian Maximalist? That sounds gorgeous! What a sweet and caring daughter you have to even say that! It's so fun to be able to decorate JUST for you and your taste, I envy that 😂😂
I enjoyed your video and learned a lot from it 👌💯❤️🥰. I’ve always been obsessed with modern rustic and for the first time I’ve decided to try rustic bohemian 😂. I’m starting with neutral colors but I fell in love with the color terracotta or pumpkin spice and that’s my starting point.
Love it. Bohemian/Boho/ colors and lots of it... love it and yes, very nice. Even in 'The Carribean' of many different Islands... especially, 'The Bahamas' who call themselfves 'Bohemians'... homes are homes adorned in vibrate colors as such with enormous different textures. Boho is actually taking/borrowing/ from many different cultures throwing them all together with great creativity. Those during travel captured these many different tribal fabrics and textures from abroad with appreciation, implemented it into their space for various and NICE creativities.
I'm just an old hippy, so already have a fairly bohemian home. I need more colour though, and more thought in putting things together. Perhaps I should just be bolder !
I love the boho look and I grew up in the 70’s and have always had this vibe going on in my home! I have a mixture of traditional and boho and people compliment me all the time how beautiful my home is! ❤️
Right now my style is neutral boho modern farmhouse , I made transition from farmhouse to modern because I added black accents and then boho. My husband and daughters love the style. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful ideas.
Ooh! Now that sounds like a beautiful combination! Neutral Boho Modern Farmhouse! Ive got to find some images of that because now I'm SUPER curious! Thanks for your comment Jackie.
At least you know your style and what you like! I'm in this transition period so I'm trying to find a new style for a while. Thank you so much for watching and thank you for your comment!
I like it, but more the calmer vibe with an occasional splash of earthy tones. I do not like the busy plants all over and marroccan collors, a little crowded decor. Wicker things are ok, but not all over. I like to mix it with mid century furniture.
The world needs humans to stop buying all new furniture and opt for the used quality that has survived the test of time. Boho can easily incorporate beautiful pieces that won't crumble like particle board and new cheap plastics. The older pieces can be used for a minimalist look too. Fortunately mid century Scandinavian saved a few pieces going to landfill. The old hard woods like teak, mahogany, oak, knotted pine, etc are expensive and not being planted instead being replaced with fast growing trees with inferior wood. Well, you get my drift.
I'm an artist. My art is colorful and it is not realistic. My home is full of my art. Either I strip everything away, including color, making my walls white so that the only color is from my art...or I embrace color and use pattern and color to compliment my art. I lean toward Boho. My biggest concern is that I am a mature woman and Boho often looks immature.
No bohemian style did not created in where you say it came from. It came originally from African descendent. They call it bohemian, but that wasn’t the original name they stole those ideas.
😂😂 I'm sorry but when I read that it gives you nightmares I instantly started laughing! Don't worry my mom is the same way and cannot understand why it's a home decor style. Thank you so much for watching Donna!
