Good stuff…I believe in the total package being shaft, vanes, nock, insert and Broadhead! That being said, my go to, has been the G5 Striker for years now, taking everything from Deer, Elk and Moose!

the iron will wide might be a good compromise of penetration / durability / initial cut diameter

fixed blade, c.o.c, razor sharp paired with a well tuned arrow through the vitals. we wouldn’t be here if it didn’t work for thousands of years.

Where did you go? Are you no longer posting on RU-vid? If so, are you still doing free content on other platforms? Still love your videos and your app

Love your videos and that you share high quality and well thought out information. Curious if you were able to recover your footage from this past season after your file troubles? Hoping you did as I love you video content. I subscribed to your website, and that year I took my first elk after 5 hard years of learning. Can't say enough good things about you. Use your app almost daily while on the mt. Please keep up the great work.

Are you producing any more elk vids ? I tried to tag you for the Elk 101 destination V4 season . I think it would be cool to see you apart of 1 of the 6 teams for next season....

I love this guy!!! His passion and intensity remind me of Craig from Parks & Recreation. He goes from cranked to 11 to “that was a 6 o’clock whistle” instantly ramps back up to 11!!! I love it!! I’m so glad I caught him on Kifarucast with Aron!!! Great content!!

I'm a solo female archery hunter and prefer to ambush elk/mule deer or spot and stalk. It's worked for me well but I'm not the best at vocalizing yet. I'm a big fan of your style of calling and personally can't stand the heavy bugling. I don't really care for the Born and Raised guys because of the amount of animals they wounded so I stopped watching their videos. You truly know elk language and hunting so I like your videos and advice.

The reason it seems like they wound more animals is because there is so many of them in the group & are hunting multiple states per year...... The more you hunt - the higher the % that you will do the same....... It's just how it is

@@thistledewoutdoors3331 Yes they are a large group but they were all hunting the same unit. They wounded multiple bulls. In my opinion they are just not that great at hunting elk. I just couldn't watch it anymore.

I just found out, Iron Will broadheads have a new 2" cut broadhead. If it flies well, this could be that best of both worlds broadhead?

Your podcast "Are you prepared to leave life". Chris that podcast also crossed over for me,to living life like there's possibly no tomorrow. Doing my elk hunts I've dreamed of now. Instead of some day I'd like to, bla bla bla. I'm from Southern Iowa, this season I have Idaho tags and also going to Colorado. Good luck, Thanks Chris!

Great video! One thing that i wish you had mentioned is the importance of making sure you are maintaining a dangerously sharp edge on your broadhead. Most broadheads out of the box are not all that sharp and end up tearing through which results in an energy dump. Another thing is that many arteries could end up deflecting around a blade instead of being cut by a dull broadhead. Sharper broadheads = more blood and better penetration. Sharpen your broadheads before you use them and make sure to maintain the edges throughout the season because blades dull over time. You might not get a shot until the last day of the season. Don't expect it to be as sharp as the first day. MAINTAIN your edges! Even when backpack hunting, maintain your edges!! it could be the difference between recovering your animal and eating your tag.

Thank you Chris, one of the better explanations to the question of "what broadhead should I use?". Trying to explain this to someone that is new to bow hunting is difficult. There are so many verriables to take into account. Appreciate what you are doing for the community.

Good video, lots of good points. But we must remember, our shot scenarios are never choreographed and really never know how the animal will be approaching you. Not real sure your opinion on "It Depends On your Hunting Style". Elk hunting is NEVER predictable and it is my belief you should be prepared for worst has situation. Yes a large diameter mechanical will on a well placed broadside shot is great, but this scenario is text book but, what id the animal takes a step, deflects you may regret using a mechanical. Just my 2-cents. I don't think you really answered the question, again My 2-cents.
