I agree with you that plastic material doesn't mean that the quality is not good, I like plastic material, it can reduce the weight of the microphone:D.
With the purple panda, so long as the mic has the TRRS->TRS adapter on it, sure thing! As far as a shure mic, I’ve never owned any myself but I’m sure it’s possible as well! On the transmitter all you really need to do when using a different mic like that is to make sure you adjust the gain level correctly so there isn’t blown out sound when first using it. Have a great one!
I don't get that feature at all. Does this mean that it sends a left channel and a right channel to the receiver that can be split later into two separate channels? Does this mean that each unit can record independently and brought into post production as two separate channels? Or does this mean two channels received as one by the receiver without an ability to separate them?
Carson, Can you, or anyone else who commented help us out? On our channel we film using cell phones. We generally have 3 guys speaking while we cook. Cooking generates a lot of background noise (sizzling). We have both a wired and a wireless lav mic. The mic on the cell phone is all but useless because it picks up the sound of the food cooking rather than the speakers voice, hence we went to the lav. The lav works pretty well for the person wearing it but,,, it does terrible at picking up the other 2 people. I think (but you guys tell me) the solution is a 3 lav set up going into the cell phone? If this is what you would recommend, is there a product/brand/package you recommend? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks for the review! I have a question though..is my comica set up busted?.i have the comica model WM100, and I have recently found them practically useless as my channel is a DIY building channel, which means I need a little more range than a couple of feet. I have noticed that after about 5-6 feet away, my mic begins cutting in and out, especially if I turn around, which is horrible to find out after the fact. I currently have this model working with my iphone 11 pro max. Anyway you could let me know if this is normal or if mine is defective? Thank in advance!
Hmmm. Sounds possibly busted to me. However, have you attempted to change the channel? There could be some interference going on in your workspace where the mics are cutting out from said interference. I would try changing the channel first. If that doesn’t seem to help, then I would personally reach out to Comica and see if they can help.
@@carsonmtech Absolutely, I have tried a number of channels, that didn't seem to work either. I did reach out, and they are sending me a replacement, so we will see how that goes. Thanks for the response!
That's cool. I actually just returned the Røde VideoMic Pro because I was getting a lot of hiss even after I changed several settings on the mic and my Canon 80D. I am looking into Sennheiser lavs even though they are super expensive. One more question: What's the difference between using a lav plugged into a recorder like a zoom h1 and using a lav plugged into a wireless system? Besides synching in post for the latter, wouldn't the quality be even better with the recorder for less money?
I have an issue with the Comica mic/reciever, and I am hoping you can help me troubleshoot this. Essentially, I have it connected through my iphone 8, and I have all the proper adaptors, however, the mic keeps cutting out! I have increased the volume, put my phone on airplane mode, and I can't figure out why it keeps happening...It will literally skip in the middle of every sentence. Any suggestions?
Have you heard of the Alvoxcon? Seen it on Amazon. Dual set up? Is it a waste of money? Or just as good as this Comica? 4.1 out of 5 stars 293Reviews Says it's a: Wireless Headset Lavalier Microphone System -Alvoxcon Dual Wireless Lapel Mic for iPhone, DSLR Camera, PA Speaker, RU-vid, Podcast, Video Recording, Conference, Vlogging, Church, Interview, Teaching. Also. Where's the cheapest place you can find this Comica unit? As always! Love & Respect for me and Lily 🐕 in Portland Oregon USA
The problem with this kind of affordable electronics is that over time something will fail. That's why Sony or Sennheiser systems are so expensive, you pay a lot more but you know that you're getting something that will last for years and years.
I saw your Purple Panda. We go on a lot of European trips, and I usually do funky and fun, capture the moment on the streets of London or Paris, type videos, but everyone wants me to do more on this next trip. So, I am no pro just a girl having fun and putting it on Facebook or Instagram. So do you think the Purple Panda would do for me? I just want to walk along and have people hear me if there is wind. Next stop Amsterdam to Basel Rhine River Trip!
Got mine brand new for $80 as an offer on eBay. Glad I didnt spend the $240 asking price as there are better built systems at that price by Sony and Senn
That mute button is dangerous. I am a one man show, and if the mic in the talent's pocket during an interview goes off accidentally because something presses against it I won't be even aware of it till I download it in my computer.
Hopefully you see this, but I was wondering if you can use the purple panda mics onto the actual set. Would it be compatible so I don't have to use a phone to record?
I have tried with other mice! Works pretty good. You do need to have a mic with a TRS (the 3 connectors) rather than TRRS (4 connectors) in order for it to work though. It appears that the Røde SmartLav+ has a TRRS connector on it out of the box, so you’d need to purchase a TRRS to TRS adapter cable or just adapter to plug in before this Comica Transmitter. Hope this helps!
I gotta say I'm impressed with the range of the Comica lav set, although it's to be expected since it's a UHF system, it works very well for the price. On the other hand, I think it kinda beats the purpose when you have 2 transmitters going to 1 receiver and it only has one mono output... so if there's any kind of noise or interference in any of them, the sound is ruined for both. I don't think it would have been that hard to make it a Stereo output (or having 2 physical outputs for channel A and B). I'd be willing to pay $50 more for independent outputs.
You can split the channels to the left and right channels of the output, effectively separating them! Then in post you just convert the stereo audio to mono and the audio of each transmitter can be muted as necessary
Great. Almost got the Purple Panda lav thanks to one of your reviews. Ended up getting a lav overall because of that Purple panda review. Your videos are great, please keep going!
