Penn Pursuit 5000, it's big enough to balance on those rods and is a work horse. It's also a bit heavier than some other reels which will help balance with the heavier blank of your rod (up to 3oz is pretty heavy - a generalist sea fishing rod). Good luck! Reuben

Great video guys! Quick question on reel maintenance, should I be taking my reel apart and doing any specific cleaning? I have the Abu Garcia cardinal reel, maybe 2 years old now and it’s started to jam up. I rinse it in fresh water every now and then after use. Maybe it’s time to try out a Penn..

@@mattgenders81 it's a fairly controversial one - the reel companies say they don't want you to submerge them in fresh water, as it can actually cause salt on the exterior of the reel to get inside where it otherwise might not. I do it anyway if the reel has been splashed a lot or dunked, otherwise I don't. Grease is the answer rather than oil, applied to any gears you can get access to, with a small amount going a long way. WD40 makes things worse as of course it removes grease, but it's a common mistake to use that. However, it's easier to get it serviced by a company like felindreinnovations.co.uk/reel-servicing/. I had a chat with one of the guys there and they said they receive so many reels that have been taken apart and not put back together! (I think I've done that at least once!).
