The Artengo TR960 Control Tour 16x19 tennis racket is the best cheap control oriented racket with Wilson Pro Staff 97 and Head Prestige feel and precision. The racket has super easy manooovrlbity in stock form. Everyone can enjoy it. From beginners to intermediate and advanced players. And it's great if you want to improve in the future, because this racket is the best customizable low powered racket for the best money. If you customize it with some lead tape (and I higly recommend it) in the head, you will turn the racket into a proper players stick with great stability and impressive plowthrough. Check out my full review of the stock & customized version of this racket. P.S: Don't forget to check out your local Decathlon store for availibility!

As a owner of the 16x19 and 18x20 I can say that this even better in 18x20 (for my taste) more precise a little bit less powered oriented but as equivalent as my vcore 95 2021. Amazing job from Decathlon...half price of the market ... unbelievable

This is just a phenomenal racquet. Glad you found the spin - I remember being surprised when you said there was a lack of it on your “first impression.” For me the spin is wild on this one. In a good way. You can really use it to carve angles and push the opponent off the court. Great for serves too.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
Coming from a 645 cm2 it is always hard to find the spin on a 630 cm2 racket. I had to change my swing path a little bit, starting with the head more up and letting it fall more down. Now I can spin it really massively. Great racket that can do some damage even to guys playing with Pro Staff 97. I think it's an instant classic racket and a must buy for collectors. Thanks for your comment.

6 grams in the head of the racquet might feel good but i dont recommend leaving it as is. It can lead to wrist pain. You should at least add 6 in the handle. I would personally go with 10 - leather grip. But its really easy to test, just add another grip and see if you like the weight. It will help with the spin and the kick on the serve as the head will be lighter relative to the handle. Im glad you like, im really curious about it even though i dont think i will switch from my pro stock Prestige to this. Not because i believe the pro stocks are better, simply because i know they are the exact same in weight balance swing weight and already tailored to my hitting style

I´ve been playing with this racket since mid April, anda at first i thought it was a bit underpowered, without a lot of spin, and a bit "strange" to play with, but... the more i play with it, the better it gets. With some small adjustments it´s getting better and better. To take the best out of this racket i had to adjust my grip slightly to hit the ball a little flatter, specially in my backhand. I´ve put some weight (4-6gr) in the head at 9-15 position and decreased the string tension from 24 to 23kg. Daaaammmmnnnnn... i´m loving it. The power is there, the spin is there (and if want to, it creates a lot of spin), the control and feel is awesome. I´m not an expert or advanced player, more of an intermediate, but this racket somehow it´s working for me right now, and a lot of others didn´t. Great review
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
Thank you for sharing your experience, which is exactly like mine. Good point with the string tension. I made a mistake recently. I strung the racket at 25/24 kg as I do with my 645 cm2 racket and the racket feels dead. It takes two hours before the strings start to work. So as you mentioned, if you want the racket to be powerful right from the start, lower the tension about -2 kg and it's a blast. The spin gets better with lower tension, too. Recently I've put another 2 g at 12 o'clock and I like it even more now. Another great point is the grip. I did it the same way. I hold it like Federer, with almost eastern grip. I hit rather flat, but when I need spin, it is there and it is massive. For players who are used to western or semi-western grip, this might be an issue.
@joaopedromagalhaes1136
@joaopedromagalhaes1136 2 года назад
@@CzechTennisGuy i´ve restringed the racket this week again to try a different setup. I´ve stringed it with 24kg but increased the weight on the head from 4 to 8gr to see if i can find a good balance between power and control... If it works i´ll let you know.. if don´t i´ll restring it again but at 22kg.

I don't need another racquet at the moment but I switched to Decathlon house brand apparel for quality-price reasons. I used to buy a particular Japanese brand's clothing until prices started to head skyward, probably due to they having to pay some Swiss guy who, while admittedly one helluva player, didn't make the clothing any more higher value just by wearing them.

The Slazenger balls are average according to my testing. They have good visibility. I like the Australian Open from Dunlop, they feel premium and are easy to play with and they are quite durable. The only problem I have with them is sometimes I don't have enough control on them and they can fly all over the place without really knowing what's going on, which is strange. I did not try the Wilson Tour balls, yet.

Awesome racket. I came from a Tecnifibre tfight rs 305 which has the tiniest sweetspot out of any racket I've used which made for a fun challenge and helped improve my game. The TR960 Tour 16x19 is slightly down on power in comparison but much larger sweetspot and more spin friendly. I really enjoy it a lot and for the price it's a no brainer. I'm actually using artengo ta990 strings at the moment only because the workshop at the Decathlon store had one already strung up at 52lbs that a customer earlier that day had changed his mind on, so they offered it to me at no extra cost. The ta990 strings are actually great and I prefer them over Solinco Hyper G Soft which is what I typically have been using. For a smooth round polyester string they are probably what I will use from now on especially given the price. Though I will be trying a hybrid setup soon with MSV hepta twist mains and Head Velocity MLT crosses.

Great video - I watched all of these reviews of the Control Tour in sequence from unboxing to first impressions to this one. Not gonna lie, your first impressions video made me kinda nervous, but this video and your love for the racket has me buying this racket on release day. The description that this racket is similar to the Head Prestige and Wilson Pro Staff is exactly what I was looking for. Other reviewers have compared it to the H16 or Wilson Ultra, which is similar to those other two rackets, but your direct comparison gives me better hope! Will be purchasing this in the 16x19 to give me a different (but similar) feel to my 18x20 prestige (which is actually a liquid metal, so I'll be upgrading for the first time in about 15 years!) Thank you for your in depth review and support of this racket as you helped me on my racket changing journey perfectly- I could not justify the price of the Head, Wilson, or Yonex, but the Artengo is right in the sweet spot - what I would expect to pay for a players racket - 10 years ago. Ps. Love the customization, will likely do the same. Reminds me of the Wilson tech at 3 and 9. :)

@@CzechTennisGuy hi, so this is my set up. First I built a balance board, why not. And to be honest with you it didn't really help me. For me it's all about the feeling I get in my hand. I have added two strips of 1/4 inch lead tape on the tip. I start at 3 strings out on each side from the purple center mark. I added 4 strips at the 3 and 9 position. I start at 8 strings down from the tip and end 8 strings up from the throat. I am string with 18 gauge Genesis trionic on the cross and 17 gauge ytex purple triangle twisted. I'm really pleased with the stick. Also, I noticed that the crosses sit much more spread out than some other 16 x 19 98 frames, and I think that this opens up the pattern and it's quite nice. Hi!! I adquired the TK960CT 18x20 recently and today i played 3 hours with it. First impressions: horrible. I feel like i have more control, sure, but i need to push like dam hell to get the ball going at a desirable speed. I strung it with Luxilon at 22kg. Sometimes the ball gets like "stuck" in the racket and if i don't put enough topspin behind it, it stays in the net or just gets to the other side with low weight behind it. Also, i noticed the grip is like more small. I purchased a 2 and even with overgrip i feel like i need to put another one. Good things: slices were very good and the volleys as well (well, the ball was like kinda dead once it hit my racket with any of these so... It was good) and surprisingly, the racket generates lots of topspin if played correctly, i was very very surprised. Even though all of this, I wanna test it a little bit more before giving a final opinion. Was 3gr of lead tape at 9 and 3 your go-choice? Do you also recommend 2-3gr at 12? What do you recommend at its fullest? I really have the impression that i need some weight in the racket so it starts working Thank you very much for your videos.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
Thank you for your great analysis. I had the same feelings about the racket. When I customized it, almost every of the negative things you mentioned dissapeard. I played with the racket yesterday with my good friend who plays with Pro Staff 97 and he is a big hitter. I felt sometimes under pressure too much and maybe I will add some more lead into the hoop at 12 o'clock. I will maybe change it like this: instead of 3 g at 3|9 o'clock, I will put 2 g at 3|9|12 o'clock. Total of 6 g. I feel like at some strokes when I'm defending the racket doesn't help me too much accelerate it back, so I think that adding more weight into 12 o'clock can improve the plowthrough dramatically. My best shots with this racket now are the slice, volleys and serve. Thanks for your story and leave me a comment when you customize your racket. Good luck.✌

Hi Kevin, it's similar with the feel and flex. Both rackets are great. But you can't beat the price for Artengo. Definitely fans of Blades will enjoy this Artengo, too. But you need to customize it like I did.

Hello, Great Review! How racket is now, after 7 months of playing? Do you still like and recommend it, or something changed? Have you tried the 18x20 frame? I do have it, and do not know should I apply any modification as on 16x19 or not ... Thanks!

Hello Seeesong, I'm glad you liked the review. Nothing has changed. I like the racket more and more. I felt in love with the racket. Maybe I will also buy the 18x20 just to test it out in the future. Yes, definitely, you can try the modifications, it's easy to do: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hJttarcsl9g.html

Hi, after watching your video I decided to order this racket. What do you recommend for strings ? I am a recreational player, intermediate level. Thanks in advance for your feedback and making these interesting videos!
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy Год назад
Hey, I'm glad you found your racket. I would string it with any medium soft poly like the Head Hawk Touch or Tecnifibre Black Code. Currently I'm using it with Dunlop Explosive Spin 1.25 mm, which is super stiff, but it works great with this racket. I'm getting great control and huge spin potential. Durability is also very good.

Hi :), I just ordered TR960 16x19. Could you help me? I've: 1. Gosen G-Spin 3 1.23 2. Gosen G-Tour 3 1.18 3. Solinco Hyper-G 1.20 4. Solinco Hyper G soft 1.20 Which gut do you recommend? How much kgs/lbs?
@qwerty-ej1wn
@qwerty-ej1wn Год назад
how does this compare to the previous TR960 Precision?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy Год назад
The Control Tour is a different league. Smaller headsize, more control oriented, much better feel, higher swingweight, quicker manooovrbility and the list goes on and on. The Precision racket is for someone who still learns tennis, enthusiastic beginners or intermmediate players, but the Control Tour is for people who are let's say more complex and on advanced level of tennis or even professionals if well customized.

Hi, I would say the grip shape is similar to Wilson and Head. Maybe more like Wilson. I like it.

In the budget category, how would you compare this with the HEAD reissues. For example, microgel radical MP and Graphene XT Speed MP. They are $99 on TW. Even cheaper than ARTENGO.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
I can't tell. It's hard to judge a racket I never played with. The question is do they make the racket exactly the same way as before? If yes, it's definitely a good racket for this money. Better than the new Artengo? Who knows. Without real test there is no real answer.

There are replacement grommets for the TR960 Precision, but I didn't found any for the Control Tour. But for sure there will be available at some point.

hello I made the following and definitive modification to Artengo: total weight 323 grams (5 of lead at 12 o'clock and Head TK82S shells at the handle) and balance 33.2 complete with everything. It's great, a great racket, better in my opinion than my two Wilson H22 16x19. Could you tell me what inertia the racquet has with these specifications? Thanks you are very strong and nice.
@CzechTennisGuy

Thank you for your comment. I can't tell you the exact swingweight or inertia of your setup, but according to my experience with customizing, the SW of your racket will be around 327 kg/cm2.

How does it compare to raket of year vcore pro and the speed pro....which would you take to tournament play?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
I would take the Vcore Pro 100 for a serious tournament because it has bigger head and bigger sweetspot. But If I practice little bit more with this Artengo, it might become my main racket.

@@CzechTennisGuy artengo is 97 inch and so is vcore pro 97 310 ... so how do they compare
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
@@mteca5093 Artengo is 98 inch, 97.6 to be exact. Vcore Pro 97 is more demanding for me and less playful. I feel like the Artengo is quicker in the air and little bit easier to swing with. I also like the grip of the Artengo racket better. The Yonex is too round and feels too big in my hand. But If was playing more aggressive and was a bigger guy overall, the Vcore Pro 97 would be a better option. To sum it up - Artengo is more fun racket to me, easier to play with. Vcore Pro 97 is more of a performance racket for big hitters with less feel.

I don't know how to string so I have a stringer who does it for me. It has 4 knots. One knot at the top at 4th main string, three nots on the bottom. 1 knot at 3rd main string and 2 knots on the other side 3rd & 4th main string. How he starts I don't know, but he is very good and very precise when I measure the tension afterwards, it's exactly how it should be done.

Which one is better? Tfight Iso or this
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
That's not that simple. Both are unique. If I'm physically in shape and have a good day, TFight is a better option. If I'm little bit tired and I want more easy swing, I go with the Artengo racket. Both are great rackets. Tfight definitely more demanding and more powerful, higher swingweight. It's 307 (Artengo stock) vs 331 (Tfight stock). That's a big difference.
