I love them all but I live in Canada! I would love some advice on how to look attractive in -20C to -30C with icy sidewalks and snow. Is it even possible?
Fellow Canadian also here! I found a beautiful jacket at marks work wear house and it says on it can withstand -30•c and let me tell you she is warm and also stylish! Also my cream coloured combat boots from marks. I bought a size up in the boots and wear thermal socks l (also from marks, lol) and I feel stylish and warm in winter! 🥶
Same. Last winter I bought a puffer coat from old navy. It is knee length and black, which maybe offsets the Michelin man look a bit. Hard to look super chic in a Canadian winter.
In my world, puffer jackets, knee high boots, turtle necks and skinny jeans have never gone out of style. These are my staples winter pieces for the last 20 years.
I like all the items mentioned- I live in Wisconsin, which can get chrisp & cold. What is your color pallette? Do U use neutrals, bright statement colors or combine together?
@@kathrynratenski-harrison4635 I generally stick with neutrals - brown, black, gray, camel and winter white. If I want to introduce some color, I use a pop of color (jewel tones) in my scarves.
My pet peeve is a dress that hangs longer than a coat. I think its more flattering when the dress is the same length as the coat or a bit shorter. Love a brightly colored, long coat over a black turtleneck n black skinny pants n boots. No dad sneakers though.
Yes! Totally agree about wide leg jeans!! I always wore my jeans super tight , but what a revelation when I donned a pair of wide legs! Now they are my favorite style and I so hope they become classic and not just a passing fancy.
L💖ve the DNA tests. I discovered 2 yrs ago, that I have a half sister in Kansas US. I live in Denmark and is going to visit my sister later on this year in the US 🇺🇸🤩🙏👯♀️ It’s SOOO exciting 😁
🥂Congrats! That's one of the best results I ever heard from a DNA swab! 😉Your getting matched up with a half sister👭 is worthy of celebration🍾. Hope you have a fabulous visit in the States. ✈️ Safe travels & 🙌blessings to you both. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
@@teresacarle294 Thank You SO much 🤩👏🙏😁 can’t wait to meet my sister Karen Dirks IRL - it’s SOO exciting 😁 My biological mom did not want to reveal anything about my biological father, but the test from 24&me told me all about where my genes are from 👏👏👏
Hi Leonie, would you consider showing some Vegan wool and leather options in your future videos? For those of us who want to be stylish and also kind to animals? Thanks for considering!
Fabulous loved 90% of your suggestions and your confirmation on wearing wide leg jeans. I got a great compliment from a very young man, stranger in the street, on how he loved my look. I was wearing my wide leg levis jeans, red velvet jacket, and a colourful patchwork shirt (from a boys department) and I am over 50..... I wish I was getting videos from you every day you are so entertaining. What about New Zealand and Australian designer? Thank you.
Hi! The links are unfortunately missing. Thanks for your tips as well for the idea with DNA tracking. Indeed, it gives you a sense of belonging. Greetings from Romania/Germany :)
I bought a boxy hitting at hip wide sectional poly corduroy puffer coat with hood at junior section of TJMaxx for $30. It is in a gorgeous hue of medium brown. It is obviously a fashion item not for polar cold weather but it is so chic. It goes with skinny + long boots and wide width denim with ankle boots or high top Chuck 70. I love the light weight and how it not being a typical ripstop nylon puffer coat.
Love these suggestions! Just a note on any of these genetic sites is that there’s very little government regulation for where the DNA information is going to be used. I’m a filmmaker and we’ve been doing research on a documentary that looks at how the information is essentially being used for profit in ways that we don’t expect. But back to the fashion: so happy for the cropped jackets!
I would like to say a very big thank you for featuring plus size models in your video ❤ I am plus size, wide calves, recovering from DVT in right foot and after 10 years just found the most perfect knee high boots, patent at foot and water proof with give up to knee, black and gold adjustable hardware that do not fan out to i dictate you have wide calves at ASOS
Hello Leonie! How exciting that you found out your Heritage! We are almost the same. Lol! I never did my DNA heritage but I do know a little bit and I am mostly Scottish, Welch and cherokee. My great great grandmother on my Moms side walked the trail of tears. Love all the fashion pieces as always! This year I found out how much I love Turtlenecks! Black of course so simple and chic looking! I can see why Diane Keaton loves her Turtlenecks! Lol! 🤗
Love your videos and your brightness Leoni! I notice that sometimes your images don't match with the pieces you're talking about... like gauze turtlenecks but images are all thick knit sweater, or taking about mid thigh puffers but showing images of cropped puffers. Would love to see images that match in the moment. For my own fashion learning it would be most helpful. Thank you!
We did this dna 🧬 heritage for x mas two years ago…… and recently my sister matched with a man and long story short we don’t share the same father. Which was a complete shock to us. 😳
@@Thestyleinsider. Um it’s been mixed. Our “father” passed away (I suppose my father, that’s just so weird to say still) when we were 14 & 16. So her getting to know him and his daughters is hard because it does not involve me. But I’m trying to be happy for her!
This is one of the reasons I haven't done my DNA - I've done my family tree back to the late 1700's, so not much use in terms of getting further back. The only reason to do so as to find out more about my ethnicity (probably English with a little Welsh, but I'd love a bit of Scandanavian blood as I now live there as have family on both sides). If I do decide to go ahead, I dont think I'll do it while my parents are alive, not because I doubt my parentage, but I'm sure I'll find some anomilies somewhere, as statistically its highly likely. My BIL found out he was adopted at the age of 50 (his three younger brothers arent adopted), he's used DNA to hook up with his half siblings, some of whom knew about him and have tried to find him for many. It was a big suprise at the time, no-one had even considered this (apart from extended family who've always known), but in the end it doesn't change the way his brothers feel about him, and he probably had a better and more secure childhood than several of his genetic siblings (both of his genetic parents had children with different partners, some were adopted, some were in care). We haven't yet met any of his half siblings, but I'm sure that'll happen soon. The reason it was kept a secret was that my parents in law didn't want him to feel different to his brothers, and that worked as no-one had an inkling.
I just love the fact that turtle necks are layered under dresses❤️, can’t wait to try this! I am thinking of going for fitted turtle neck with my dress! Also can’t wait to buy a new knee high boots for winter!
a family member found us all. It's been pleasant and beneficial for us all as she begins travelling around the world to meet us all in the corners of the globe we have all moved to.
I love knee-high boots because I’m mostly a skirt or dress wearer, one needs to add tights in winter with ankle boots. I kept all my leather knee-high boots from before, so I don’t need to buy any, they look current. They’re too expensive to just discard when trends change, I knew they would come back in. I would like to find khaki green or burgundy ones this season, but everything seems to be black or beige, which I already have.
❤your styling ideas. I am from Canada, so any ideas to style when the weather goes around -30 and we are struggling to stay warm but still look stylish. Thanks 😊
I'm not an expert but I have found many thin layers under a nice warm coat can look good. The thin layers add more warmth without the bulk that several heavier layers could add. Then when you are inside, you can remove your coat and however many layers you need, to feel comfortable. Keeping the coat a little oversized helps make room for extra layers without making it difficult to move and be comfortable. It also provides an air pocket between layers which will make you warmer. It's like insulation in a house wall. If it is compressed together tightly it won't provide as much insulating value as when there is space for air. Monochrome some of your layers or use 2 colors so they match other things you are wearing, add a neutral for other layers if you want a 2-tone or 3-tone look. Have your gloves, scarf and hat match either your layers or the neutral. I hope you stay warm!
I wear slightly wide straight leg pants since I no longer wear heels. I plan to invest in a couple pair high top trainers as well... Love the ones you own...
@@sharonshmuel3386 Yes thank you they seem to be popping up as soon as I post a new video. I go through all of the comments and report them too so thank you for doing the same and sorry about that - so annoying!
I love everything but living in Australia 🇦🇺 where we’re coming into our summer months I’m wondering if these styles will still be around next season here, although we’re behind the times with most everything that’s in style, I’m sure they will be, I love the wide legged jeans, just purchased a pair last weekend at Just Jeans here in Australia 🇦🇺 and they look fabulous even on my 62 year old petite size body. ❤
Hi Leonie! Love the styles you showed; most especially those Statement Coats! I agree that they are certainly worth the investment and will last for years. HAPPY M😁NDAY to you!
On point especially with statement coats they are my downfall I have to force myself not to purchase another one but you are so right you could wear something so simple but through on a well made coat killer boots be it short boots or knee high classic brogues what ever makes you feel on point but once you place that final piece on you have set the tone its the finishing piece especially in the autumn an winter months😊😁corsets they have been a part of my wardrobe since my teans they just bring an edge to an outfit for sure it's how you put it together to suit your aesthetic great video full of ideas for the coming winter months be blessed always 🙏🏼😊
Yay! Bring on the hot pink! 🥳 Hehehe, I bit more brighter colours in winter fashion is nice. Usually winter fashion is so dark 😑 when it is already non-stop dark outside I really need to see some happy colours! Love some dopamine dressing in winter 🤗
I live in Winterpeg, Manitoba, Canada. I should like some recommendations on what to wear for our climate. It regularly goes down to -40 to -50 with or without the wind chill. We have been colder than Mars on at least one occasion.
💟 So in the illustration & your link # 27, here in the U.S. I recall that leg width was referred to as a "stovepipe" leg jean. That must really show my age!!! LOL. I'm so pleased that it's truly a wear whatever jean style you like today & it's great to choose the style that best suits your taste " body type!!! Purchased wide leg jeans but have not worn them yet... but looking forward to it! Thanks sweetie .... 💟💜💟
Another great video!! Thanks for sharing your heritage. No surprise you have Spanish DNA. You have that beautiful Mediterranean look. Wide leg bottoms are a huge NO for me, but I love, love, love knee high boots !! I have them in lots of different colours. They lengthen my frame and totally complete my outfits !! 😍😍
what an awesome find. I had mine done it was almost accidentally the way in which it took place. Well, I thought I was mostly Zulu and it turns out that my largest gene pool is from Eritrea... I was born and raised in South Africa. So much fun!
Love all the styles except maybe the corset ones I’m just not sure about them just yet. The puffers are great and love the versatile turtle necks . The hot pink is such a lovely happy colour . So glad it’s in this year . Lots of choices to look good when it’s cold out.
Thanks Leonie! 🙏🏻🤩Great video! 💗Croped jacket or I think: bolero?! I’ll go for the boleros! Have some in different colours and materials. Turtlenecks are great in cold windy climate! Navyblue puffer going on it’s 8th year! So many compliments for it!🥰 Love your green (metallic?) blouse!😍 Bye from 🇸🇪🌥🍂
Thanks for the tips, Leoni! I agree with all of your favorites except the corset tops. Whenever I try, I feel like I’m a little girl playing dress-up that doesn’t really know what she’s doing🤣
I thought you looked spanish before you even said you have Spanish in your DNA. 😊 sometimes people say I look Asian and just recently I had the feeling my mom looked Asian and she was Colombian. Her facial features were so delicate like an Asian woman. So there’s no doubt my DNA testing will show I have Asian in my DNA. I’m looking forward to know! 😊
All great points. Love corsets, turtlenecks under dresses and wide leg jeans ah i love so much i never had so many pairs of jeans 🤪😜 my favorite brand Maison Margiela MM6 i have 4 pairs. Ah i love those cropped jackets. I guess i need one 😳😜 Have a blessed day🙏🧡
Save our coins, save our coins! I love that you bring us some reasonable price items. Did you crop that denim jacket? Wow, it really great that you consider the category of us large chest ladies because I was going to ask on the crop blazer/jacket but Leonie got it (but you gifted there to). I need to do mine because my mom keep saying that her grandmother was part indian and now realizing that this was a way of explaning away the shame of being born from the result rape from a white slave owner, which is more common than blacks actually having any claim to indian heritage. I love when we get a peak view of your love ones. I just thrifted a great pair of Nine West baby blue geniune suede knee high cowboy influence boot for just $10, I cannot wait to wear them. I think you referring to straight leg trouser/jeans anything thinner would be pencil legs, stretchy fitted is skinny legs. I am glad that pants width is really up to the one wearing them. I have thrifted and therefore got an collection of what I would consider statement coats. My mom gave me her grey leather penny lane coat and she also gave me her deep red classic wool midi coat (they are so special to me). After seeing KBC wear a red maxi coat with jeans on IG, I found a good one that a lighter red with military inflare.. Mornings are starting in the 30s and next week it suppose to get down into the 20s, so I have been going thru my cold climate items that I did not put up during the warm month (major No No for me/storage prevent moth damage) to check for to see if they are still in good condition. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
Love the KarenBritchick top. Thinking about getting both dress and top but don't want zebra to be out of fashion by the time I can wear them here in NZ. What do you recon - how heavy is the fabric?
@@Thestyleinsider. The Drop says collection is finished but scroll down below that and a number of items including the dress and top and some of the cargos are available to be ordered and shipped to NZ. Awesome.
Love it! Question: isn’t it actually spring/summer for you right now? We did the genetic tests. We thought the results would be surprising because my mom was adopted. It wasn’t especially interesting but my dad…wow - it was crazy! Fun.
Great video Leonie. I was going to crop one of my denim jackets a La Karenbritchick however thinking twice about it now because I am a D cup and you’re right I think it will draw attention to my bust plus I am short bodied. Absolutely love corset tops, don’t have one. Would you recommend for a D cup or not?
💝Inherited a new hot pink dress from my mom ages ago that I've been determined to wear one of these days. The style looks like Spring/Summer, but the fabric is far too hot to wear in those seasons🥵. 😉You're right about black not being best w/hot pink, but still considering in the short term to go with my black Nike sneakers with hot pink ✔️embellishment. My🦵broken leg is also covered in a black brace from thigh to ankle, so my fashion options are limited at present. 🏥Plus, the hospital I visit for ortho appts is 🥶chilled, so I wouldn't roast🌡in it there. 🤗 Will eventually take your suggestion to pair it with gray Skecher slip-ons, but I need to find a coordinating belt to cinch in the waist. Although I have a matching dove gray sweater vest I've never worn that could look cute over it too. 🧢Of course, I have a Pink Dot baseball cap in a pale green denim. Their brand is a light pink circle in a bigger hot pink circle. It could look adorable with my pink leather slip-on Vans🛹 too. Since you also like some sporty flair, I might get your approval on this final combo too. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
