With the Cotton, I like being able to take my backpack off and leave the camera on. With the other two, you have to remove the camera, every time you need to get in the backpack. I also like to hike to an area, drop the backpack, and still walk around with the Cotton.

I struggled getting my camera into place with PD. So I ordered the Cotton SlingBelt, and so happy with it. I will order a L-Bracket for my Z8, so that should solve the problem with mounting it to tripods.

I am so impressed with this video. This might be the best tech review I've seen in my 4 years being a youtuber and filmmaker. Loved how you explained your relationship/non relationship with the companies at the beginning and the rest was simply AMAZING. Clear, punctual, thorough, you covered all I wanted to know and what I didn't know I needed to know and made a great job at comparing the products. I would send you 20 likes if I could. I was already leaning towards the PeakDesign because I need it to be as minimalistic as I can since I'm a vlogger and not a professional filmmaker. You confirmed my choice. I buy it from your affiliate link. Thank you.

Senior lady weighing in. I do mostly wildlife with 100-500 lens and I have come to really like the Cotton Carrier. I have used their vest and the sling, preferring the vest. Being able to carry the camera with the big lens hands free gives me a safety component as I have dropped a camera and lens before.( before I purchased the Cotton Carrier) I do use the safety strap as an extra precaution.

Amazing review video! Some feedback-the scoring system is super confusing. Keeping track of which icons mean what in a grid of numbers-feels like I’m playing sudoku. A simple 1-5 per category with a final score at the end would be easier to understand. Keep the videos coming! Looking forward to more from you. :)

Excellent review ! Cotton Carrier has been around for quite awhile, so ‘tried and true.’ Peak Design is very innovative, but wish prices would come down some. You might do an update in the near future, and feature Spider Pro? I don’t have any experience with, or knowledge of the Polar Pro system. It looks like it might be very competitive, with a few tweaks and more product releases in the future? Peace! 👍👍👍🎄✌🏻🇺🇸📷

Excellent review for the features covered. I would have added carrying comfort. I am an avid hiker. My Peak Design camera clip rocks side to side when mounted on a back pack shoulder strap, even with a light M6 camera setup. My back pack strap system has a sternum strap, so that is not the issue. It’s not uncomfortable, but a bit annoying. I stopped using the Peak Design with heavier lenses for this reason. Also, the Peak Design finger screws have to be tightened frequently to keep the clip system from coming off. I’ve made it a habit to tighten the screws half way through a hike. I have a Cotten Skout coming now. I’m hoping it will be more comfortable and secure, and that I can use it with larger lenses. My Peak Designs clip will be relegated to small binocular use.
@TheFriendlyReviewer

My Peak Design doesn’t have that issue, but my back pack straps are rather thick and sturdy. Will be interested to hear what you think of the Cotton Carrier

My backpack straps are contoured and wide and thick. A little wider and thicker than recommended. The V2 is wide enough if I can find it. How heavy of a camera/lens would feel comfortable? My Nikon’s body is heavy

Great reviews! I’m all in on the Peak design ecosystem. I have the PD everyday backpack with the clip mounted on the strap. It’s super sturdy and comfortable, even with my super heavy lenses. I bought extra plates and leave them on all my cameras/lenses. I hardly notice them and they’re compatible with all of my tripods/support systems.

I find with the Peak Design the actual plate leaves a greasy residue on my camera, so I removed the rubber and replaced the glue they used with contact adhesive, also it's not quite big enough for the strap on my main pack limiting the position I can put it, I have to put it right at the bottom of the strap where it tapers in (Lowepro Flipside 450), this also causes it to bounce around as I walk. But I just received the Ulanzi Claw Clip Shoulder Strap Quick Release Mount, and it's perfect, bigger and much more secure feeling, the claw mount is awesome and there is zero movement as I walk, I thought it looked too chunky when I first opened it, but it turns out this chunkiness is what makes it perform better.

How does Falcam fit into this? I bought a Falcam F38 clip and I liked it and I was thinking about switching to the system but I don't understand enough about other system before buying a clip system for all my stuff. I have a heavy telephoto lens and I wondered whether the Falcam system would be strong enough for it.

I have the entire Cotton Carrier system including their Sling BELT & Bucket which I love just one problem is the hub attachment, it can be very fidley and wastes time. I am about to receive Peak Design's new product being their 'Micro Clutch' and looking forward to testing this together with the capture on my Fujifilm XT2 & XH2 bodies. One system you didn't mention is the Spider, this I have found to be a great product solely for when in hand held mode straight off the hip. Not the best shoulder style though

I ordered a LiteAF Curve backpack that has 3" wide shoulder straps and I'm looking for a clip system that would work with a 2.5lb camera system. The quick draw seems cool but I don't think it would be wide enough. Would the Cotton be wide enough out of the box or would I need to fabricate a Velcro extension?

HI, I have both Cotton Carrier and Peak Design, I love how the Cotton Carrier is a very quick one hand release, but I do not like for Macro photography, you need to take off the round plate when mounting on a tripod. With Peak Design I can keep the arc swiss plate on for macro photography , but I really do not like the two handed release. I can carry both around the waist which i prefer. Also this is a pretty interesting review
@DouglasKubler
@DouglasKubler 8 месяцев назад
Peak design has extra thickness on the bottom that creates a gap between the bottom of the arca tab and the slot of a normal arca receiver. Only the top of the arca tab touches the arca receiver and of course the point of the tab is short of the wall of the receiver. Only trust it for broken cameras. Check out the PD receiver. It has a tab to keep the object from dropping out the bottom and that tab meets the extra protrusion from the clip. And there's another protrusion that pushes the safety lock open for object one-way insertion, a second reason why there's not a normal flat bottom.

I've got the Peak Design Camera Clip, and the Cotton Carrier Scout. Honestly, I prefer the Cotton Carrier solution. It is super easy to use, engenders confidence, and is really comfortable. The only real drawback I see with the Cotton Carrier is tripod compatibility. That said, none of them are perfect on that count. I wish Cotton Carrier would design and offer an arca-swiss style plate that you could clamp into your tripod head, and which would then accept their standard round plate quickly and securely. Problem solved.

PGY Tech do the beetle and a POV clip which is much much better (quality and functionality) . If you are carry a heavier camera a sternum pouch is better as in it spreads the load ,is more balanced and offers better camera protection.
