Very informative! My art is digital, so I looked into a camera to film myself as I screen record my workflow. Just recently got a Canon EOS M200 for $550, very satisfied with it! Great quality, great FPS, the kit lens works perfectly for my needs, has a flip screen, clean HDMI, and since I basically use it as a "webcam" while recording my screen I keep it plugged in with a dummy battery for unlimited power. Won't use it much away from my set up.
This was EXTREMELY helpful and I’ll save it to watch a few more times. I am grateful to have found you and genuinely appreciate that you’ve taken the time to help both your friend and the rest of us by sharing your knowledge. Thank you!
Great Video!...my experience is that the Canon Rebel EOS is great for a beginners and very user friendly. I have no complaints on the picture quality. Thanks for the great idea of using a flip out screen...very helpful!
Yes l am also a content user back 15 years ago when I purchased my first DSLR (I think very first Rebel series). Now I am seriously considering some Panasonic GH5 equivalent “cinema” cameras (it’s not a RED, but it’s designed for filmmaking).
I brought the Canon m50 with the kit lens to take pics of my artwork. I am very new to dslr/mirror less and barely had used anything other than point and shoot. Do you think the kit lens is good enough for decent print photos given the right adjustments or should I look into another lens?
What a well put video! Thanks a ton! The best video I've seen on this topic. I'm watching your video for the first time so I know nothing about you but I really love your vibe. You seem like a nice person with a very friendly aura. 😊
hi thank alot for your gear tips. By the way i am so confused with what the right camera to get. i use for my art canon 750 and it's pretty good i gueass only for up close. but for shooting videos when i am standing little further away it doesn't have a good quality. What do u recomend for interrior shooting? like if i want to film my studio?
I’m surprised you didn’t have the Sony a7c on your list. It seems it would check a lot of your boxes. Smallest full frame camera with interchangeable lenses. Unlimited recording time, legitimate flip out screen, latest color science usb-c and hdmi.
Hi Andrew! Good point! I love Sony a7 series and I have artist friends who are die-hard fans. But it's $1800 without lens, over $2000 with lens. It's a bit expensive...😅
What sport camera are you using in the video....? Consider doing a video on sport/action camera's like the one you using, or GoPro's...... As overhead cameras for art, because Gopros are made for a mass market, and there is a considerable flood of second hand Gopros available, .....there prices drop much quicker...... Making it a very cheap camera comparatively...... And this makes sense for many artists...... I think they'd really appreciate such information....
Whats your view on Sony Zv e10? My use are for overhead videos,Reels video and for photographing my artwork for prints. Also i dont have a PC with me,So i have to tranfer files to my Ipad. Will it be convinient?
Hi Nisa, I was looking out for a Black Friday deal on this Sony interchangeable lens vlog camera, but unfortunately I didn’t find a good deal. I think the price is a bit high. With this price I could buy a Lumix vlog camera plus a Osmo Pocket. Besides the price, it’s a great little camera that fulfills all the basic needs.
Super info, thank you! I also wonder about cameras that have a remote or bluetooth to be able to zoom? My art form is very messy so I'm trying not to touch my equipment very much (you should see my phone!😉🤣) Any recommendations for that as i shop around for a new one? Thanks much in advance!
Hey Michelle, I have a Lumix G100 and I use a cable handle with it. It’s handy to start, stop and sleep. But it doesn’t zoom because the lens is removable, not controlled by the camera body. If you want a remote thing, and water proof, you might want to try a GoPro kind. But it doesn’t really “zoom” because it’s fixed focal lens.
@@VeryPrivateGallery thanks for your response:) I just found out that the Sony ZV1 has Bluetooth and a remote too! Looks like that will suit my art filming purposes and more. Really appreciate how generous and informative you are in what you share on your channel😊
New to your channel and youtube, Thank you for the video! Lots of info I didn’t know. I am very new on youtube, so I’ve been filming with my ipad pro. I am leaning towards the Canon EOS m50, let’s see how it goes. My main issue is with overhead filming, mainly how to attach the camera. Do you have any videos on overhead set-ups? Thanks!!
Hi Alex/Maia, Canon M50 is a good choice. I am also thinking about Sony ZV1 and Panasonic G100 😊 For over head filming you can buy a large sturdy tripod with horizontal bar, or you can get a “microphone arm” with a clamp to your desk.
@@akshayakrishna_1188 yes I had a Gorilla pod before! It was alright, but I think I got a smaller one too small for my DSLR, so it didn’t hold up too well. It’s my bad! It was not signed up for this job. Later I gave it away to a friend who runs a restaurant for food photography. He uses his phone and that works perfectly for him.
Hey there, I'm new to filming my art. I would like to buy a good camera to prevent having to spend money on slightly better ones over and over. I don't know too much about cameras yet. I found the Sony alpha 6600 with sel 18135 objective. Would you recommend it? Thanks a lot 🤗
For 1080 video recording, which is better? Sony a6000 , canon m50/200d, or Fujifilm xt200? I want to record art videos, make review videos and interviews. For me, colour accuracy in video mode is most important. Also a good battery life and continuous recording is my priority Or do you think iPhone 11 is equally good for videography?
Hi 👋 I watched many tutorials of Sony a6000/a6400, and I am a big fan of Canon, tried Olympus and recently moved to Panasonic Lumix. To be honest if you want the best color, you can consider buying any major brands, then combine with a Atoms Ninja external screen-recorder. It gives you more gama-depth.
I used smaller cameras and always found the battery life is too short especially in the winter. I would recommend a camera that you can charge while recording. My Lumix G100 is great, small and mighty, capable of 4K, but I can’t charge it while having it running. It could be very frustrating when you are in the middle of a shoot, and you have to wait a long time for it to power up again.
I have also been recording a lot of the B-rolls using iPhone 11 Pro. Now the new 13 just came out - a bit expensive but the mini is alright. I think they are excellent tools. If you are not sure which camera and meanwhile you will need a new phone, get an iPhone then!
Hi Raja, most light boxes on Amazon are under 100 dollars. I personally use two units of 40x60cm 60W soft boxes, plus a hair light (usually a random light I grab from the shelf).
I have been using the Canon EOS DSLRs, from 60D to 70D and 80D. I think 90D is great for a pro-consumer level DSLR! It can shoot nice 4K videos, while other previous models in the family couldn't. If I didn't buy the 80D, I would have gone for the 90D.
Of course the new RP series is good too! But I have all my lens native to EF and EFs mount. I couldn't be bothered to change all my gears and accessories. I tried the Panasonic's Lumix series, because I was thinking to train myself for the future GH6. But finally the new GH6 did not arrive as promised - big disappointment. I am left with G100 and G7, both not ideal for professional use.
Sony a6400 hava great reviews but for me i could not get any good video with, very dark, focus and unfocus problem to be honest worst camera then my iphone
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ 1, your intro is almost 9 seconds long. It can be reduced to help with retention. 2, you’re using music without voice. You can record voice over. 3, your overhead shooting is not directly on top of your art, it’s tilted. You can find a better way of fixing your camera over the table?
@@VeryPrivateGallery thank you very much for your advice🥺♥️ I will keep that in my mind. And one of my problem is, I only used cp while recording and the result is all of my videos are not good quality 😓😪
