Hey Grayson! glad the video was helpful. Sadly I don't have a Canon R8 in my hands anymore BUT I did just test on my Canon R5, and it let me go to 1/8 sec lowest which does the effect you're looking for. I can only assume the R8 does something similar.

My R8 with the 24-50mm kit lens only likes to go down to f4.5 aperture is this normal? Or did I mess up the settings?

That’s correct! The kit lens lowest aperture is f4.5

Do you mean while zoomed in or while browsing images? not sure if I have seen any lag in menus.

Your camera is in PAL video mode when you want it in NTSC, in the video menu options you can switch the video system

When i attach my Dji wireless Mic. My wind filter is automatically disabled. & when i do enable. Error comes. This mic is not supported for this feature. Can u also check?

Hello @Andy, thank very much, I tried to delete all useless languages except default japanese and english. so I went to Canon R8 website of japan. but I can't find firmware download even if other country sites. Can you inform me where did you download the firmware 1.0.0 file?

I'm not sure of your question, do you just want to reset your R8? You can find firmware files on Canon USA website on their R8 page.

Is your camera set to PAL instead of NTSC video mode? if so you’ll see things like 25 fps.

Here's a fun fact, You can't download the Firmware update on a Mac. At least you can't on OS14. I had to use a Windows computer to access it. When you go to the R8 support page and then click the Software and Drivers link it detects your operating system and shows you compatible items. On the Mac it only showed me the Canon Lookup Table as being available for download, none of the firmware or other Canon software items. When I went to the same page on my PC I was able to find all of the downloadable Canon utility software in addition to the firmware update. Not sure why this is but it was a little frustrating because I knew that there was an update available for my R8. Thankfully I looked on my PC.

Hey Jeff, typically I just select an older version of MacOS from the dropdown and it works fine. Not sure why they list them in such a strange way.

Likely your video system is set to "PAL" if you want those frame rates change it to NTSC, its an option in the video settings.

@@movielover2172 There will be so many things that will affect battery life, like screen usage, format recorded, and external temperature. If you need longer battery life I’d recommend buying a second battery or consider a Canon camera with a larger battery like the R6 Mark II. You could also bring a battery bank with you and charge the camera via USB-C when not in use.

Your video system is set to PAL instead of NTSC, it's an option in the menu when in video mode. Hope that helps!

If I shoot in RAW then I get a CR3 file as a photo. Which I cannot open in Lightroom. And I don't have the Lightroom / Photoshop that update. So how can I get only RAW and not CR3?

You can use the free version of Lightroom, or use a different editing software. CR3 is Canon’s RAW file, if you don’t plan on updating Lightroom you won’t be able to open the files.

“AI Focus” has been around for decades now. At least many of the 5Ds had this feature, dating back to at least 2010 or something. It stands for “Autofocus Intelligence” or something, and must not be confused with artificial intelligence in any shape or form;)

You lost me at Image Quality. Where is JPG? I see a dash followed by quarter circle L and then, M M S1 S1 S2. Where is JPG. Yes I am a newbie.

I guess you probably know it by now, but those letters are abreviations of the quality of the jpg, L with full quarter circle is the highest quality, i wouldn't advice you use anything other than L with full, not jagged quarter circle, btw don't listen to him, use JPG + RAW (Even cRAW it's actually quite high quality, with half the size, and if you're not planning on using lightroom, i would advice you to use only jpg L)

Dont buy this canon R8,, you'll gonna regret it. The overheating issue is real. i just bought one and try in an event. less than 15 minutes it shut down ,, a big disappointment. worse camera i use.

Hey Rachel, if you put the camera in movie mode and go to shooting menu 6 (the red menu) you should see "Time-lapse movie" in this menu you can enable timelapse mode. Let me know if you can't find it!
