Thanks Luca! Appreciate it. pH testing is definitely interesting. It doesn't tell the whole story of course, since some chemicals are neutral but damaging to waxes. However, it is interesting when they claim pH neutral, you can work out the base pH by working basic algebra from my dilution and it's telling.
As a novice looking at beginning my DIY detailing this was fantastic information and as an engineer, I appreciated your process and approach, your outcomes were deterministic enough to make me subscribe. great job.
You're doing a great job with these videos and testing things a lot of channels never think to try. Plus you actually invested in quality video production instead of using a crappy phone lol
Thank you, really appreciate it and I do try to make the best video quality I can. Was a pretty significant investment, even time wise too! I spend 1-2 hours per minute of video on these.
Lastly, there are many other foaming soaps out there as the market starts to pick up for portable foam sprayers (iK foam pro). I would request, if possible, perform the same test (foam, pH level measurement, and wax stripping test) using other foaming soaps offered from Chemical Guys, Turtle Wax, Griots Garage, etc.. etc...
I have used all 3 and like the mega foam a lot and the original. The Mega foam smell reminds me of a Hawaiian Fruit punch drink. That was very interesting info on the ingredients on the mega foam being harsher on the wax you used. That type of info you don't see in most reviews. I always use Bead Maker or Adams Detail Spray as a drying aid after each wash. So there is some protecting being added after each wash. Awesome vid, thank you.
Hey man this video was just i was looking for, thanks a lot! People like you make live easy for everyone of us. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
omg man you the best finally someone who really put those shampoos into test i got V07 by CG and that thing remove wax after 1 wash i wish you will post more videos like this one with more brands and products !!
Thanks Brayden! Yea I was a little surprised. Plus if you do the math to back out the 3:1 dilution ratio you realize its even more alkaline. Of course your final pH will depend on the desired dilution and pH of the base water. Granted pH isn’t everything. Plenty of things that aren’t particularly acidic or basic can eat away wax. For instance isopropyl alcohol is an 8. So technically pure iso is less basic than the Ultra shampoo, but obviously it will destroy wax.
Thanks for this vid!!! Especially going the extra mile to post the document with the chemicals used within the soap. Keep up the good work with the channel!!!!
This was a very good video , I can say that mega foam is the real deal , and the blue shampoo is a staple in great soaps. Ultra foam is junk and leaves residue. No wonder Adams was giving so much of it away in their mystery buckets.
I have the blue, I've been using the blue! Though here I was about to pull the trigger and spend $59 on a gallon on mega foam, why you ask. I'm attracted to shiny things😀 My wallet and I want to thank you so much for this video
I have the Car Shampoo blue one, I got the purple one in 16oz as part of a kit for christmas. I may give that one to someone for christmas! 😂 I love the blue one and I have it in a gallon.
I sincerely enjoy your videos! Keep up the solid work. It of curiosity, have you ever tried Gyeon products? I have purchased some recently based on branding i suppose. I hope they are actually good. Again great work!
Thanks E J, appreciate you watching! I have tried Gyeon Cure sio2 spray sealant. It is definitely decent but I was expecting more for the price. I do have several of their other products in my queue to test.
Great detail review of these car shampoos! Would you please make a review for other shampoos brands? like Gtechniq GWash, Car pro Reset, Gyeon Bathe. More power!
sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Brodie Onyx thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Oh man I wish I had 60fps 4K at this full frame bitrate. But that would cost like $15k for one camera. Im trying to give the best clarity/detail over frame rate. My action cams will do 4k 60fps but the color and bitrate are terrible. This main a/b cam setup is 10 bit color 600mbit+ detail. This is why there is almost no noise in the video. The sensor in the z6 I use is a full frame 35mm vs ~6mm in action cams and cell phones.
Ahh yea on a small screen the detail is harder to appreciate. Colors should still look great at 10 bit on the nice iphone displays, love my iphone 11 display.
Keep in mind its just one test against one wax, but i am suspicious since it has the organic solvent and iso in it. Pretty harsh ingredient wise. It is the most diluted when sprayed via lance/gun so it has that going for it. Ill probably test it some more.
But how does it clean with the recommended use? We only saw the foam capability not cleaning capability straight out of the gun. For example, Bilt hamber foam is almost water from the gun but cleans like hell.
This is a good point. Cleaning is not something I tested directly. I would suspect Mega Foam is the harder cleaner based on how it attacked the wax. This would make sense since the most gentle shampoo is unlikely to be the best degreaser. Generally I have regularly cleaned and garaged cars so its rare I have a scrubbing power first need. Typically I’m most interested in the amount of lubrication (foam) and actually how mild it is, which IMO is the opposite of how well it cleans. Im mostly removing brake dust, dust, pollen, etc.. I could however see how others could benefit in knowing which is the strongest cleanser. Especially the offroad crowd. Ill see if I can come up with a uniform way to test that.
Bilt hamber foam is insane. I looks like it will be terrible as it produces little foam, but it’s by far the strongest cleaning snow foam I’ve tried. Most of their range is outstanding, particular surfex HD, autowheel and double speed wax. If only they bothered their arse adding fragrances to their products, they would sell better.
These are more for foam and lubrication to maintain your finish and protection. If you have a very dirty car or need to strip it you can use their strip wash or carpro multi X and Reset
Ultra foam you are the weakest link. I've snooped around online and noticed the reviews seem to reflect that as well. People are generally not satisfied with it especially compared to the OG or Mega Foam. I like the idea of the Mega Foam as a prewash and for touchless washes but the OG has the versatility for bucket washes. There is also the value per wash. Mega foam can drop down to 1ounce per foam cannon fill versus the 3oz of the OG but the OG is about half the cost per gallon and comes in 5 gallon as well. The Adam's site periodically has 20% sales too so you can get down to around .50 cents per foam cannon fill either way. Thanks for the great comparison video!
Damian you are exactly right. Especially about the cost comparison too. Catch the right sale and buy 1 or 5 gal and use it a long time. I buy the 5 gallons myself. Same for their basic detail spray. I even thought about making my own (the ingredients are simple) but id be saving almost nothing over buying a 5 gal on sale.
Isaac. I would say all shampoos and mechanical abrasion (brush or pad) will strip wax. In my test the mega foam was just more aggressive at stripping. Keep in mind, it will probably clean better. The milder blue shampoo doesn't clean serious grime and gunk well, it's best on well maintained often washed cars.
