Bought a Rug Doctor after watching the video, my 30 year old living room carpet came up like new, removing in depth dirt, grime and stains from my children growing up, spilling all kinds of drinks and food, which we tried to hand clean, then my grandchildren and several dogs followed, the amount of dirt, and stains disappeared after 2 washes, was truly amazing.

Interesting testing and results, sure lots of people will be interested in this upload, also would be a good piece for Phil & Holly.

I recently got the Bissel but am sending it back. The suction on the handheld really is incredibly lacklustre, I thought there may be something wrong with mine but this video has confirmed it just doesn't have enough suction. It was no better than just using a cloth. Very odd. The problem with the rug doctor is the bulky footprint and their annoying insistence that you have to tip it back to go forward every damn time. There really seems to be room for a lot of improvement in this market.

Mat you have read my mind, I was looking for an up to date review to help me decide on replacing a 14 year old Vax V-125 All Terrain. Up until now I had high hopes for the Bissell 2X revolution as it did well in other reviews, but that Rug Doctor is something else - it now makes sense why it’s been out of stock for weeks. I liked how you tested the suction in a methodical way, surprised not many others do this (because they should be), and more crucially the cleaning/drying ability of the hand held tools as this is often an after thought. Noted that Bissell has been mis-spelt in the video at the moments that points are handed out. Have liked and subscribed after watching this review, keep up the reviews and your input on ITV’s This Morning is always appreciated. P.S. Which? magazine only gave this model 60% and placed the other two higher up (best buys)...don't know what to believe.😐

Thanks for this - funnily enough these are the exact three models I was considering - only additional for me would have been a test around pet hair, as we are about to get a long-haired Labrador! I’ve used the RD one previously and was very impressed with it.

I now use my Lidl bought wet dry vacuum put the water on with a watering can,works well; as usual simplest is best

Hi I had the Vax platinum carpet cleaner and initially I was very happy with it but after about 6 uses the engine burned and left the black marks on a carpet. I used it on small pile carpet. I never used it for a long time as I don't have big rooms. What is more disappointing is more less impossible to get through to customer help line.

ARE VAX CARPET SHAMPOOERS FINANCIALLY FIT FOR PURPOSE? with the smart wash at £299, these machines are designed for the domestic market, although the build quality is adequate, I have found that care is needed with the brittle plastic parts. The machine is unlikely to be used in a normal household more that once a year, it must be registered within 3 months to get any extended warranty or it reverts to 12 months. The warranty covers defective parts but not accidental damage, so you have to store a bulky machine for long periods of time where it won’t get accidentally damaged. If it does get damaged the likelihood is that you won’t be able to get it repaired, which could make the machine useless very quickly. Serious thought should be given as to whether you need to own one or hire a decent machine far more cheaply when required.

These are not high and models they are mid range at best I have the rug doctor one I can tell you that particular model sucks do you want a good carpet cleaner you need a big green clean machine or the rug doctor mighty pro

Please don’t buy the Rug Doctor a complete waste of money, mine broke after one use. Rug Doctor UK are a complete and utter joke.
