My fav cat litter is pine pellets. Lowes has it for $6 for 40 lbs. You only scoop out poop with a pellet sifter scoop. They stir it with a sifting litterbox. I like the one from Arm an hammer. You're welcome....
I couldn't stop laughing the entire time! So relatable it's hilarious. I've hated clay litters ever since I got Poppy (cat in profile). The people we got her from had been using clay litter and (her being a little kitten) had stepped in her own pee and it had hardend. I had to cut the cement bricks out from her toe fur so she wouldn't eat it. My second biggest litter pet peves are litters that make our cats smell like perfumed turds and litters that are so dusty that the cats come out looking like they just bleached their paws. Do not want that anywhere near me and it's not good for them either.
Yes!! I love Oko cat litter!! It’s the best. I get the softest version. It does cause some dust, but if you scoop carefully, it’s not too bad. The trade off of the dust is worth it because Oko super soft does not scratch wooden floors, or any floors, if it gets tracked. And secondly, it does not get stuck in their paws. So they are not eating cement like they do when cleaning their paws from those other litters.
I switched to natural litter 6 years after owning my first cat. Who is now 6 years old and I wish i did it sooner. I’m glad I came across this video because I just got Ökocat after trying NaturallyFresh Quick Clumping Walnut Litter and Arm&Hammer Naturals with Corn Fiber. Everything you said about Ökocat is 100% accurate.
You're actually meant to sift thw wood pellets. The wood litter not mean to clump. It disolves and you easily remove it by sifting it out witht the appropriate litter box.
I use Sustainably Yours multi cat for the clumping action and odor control. Also that there is no dust is big for me. I don’t like the thought of my cats inhaling dust every time they step into the box or scratch around. I admit the tracking sucks, but I keep a mat down to help control it.
I've been using Okokat for a couple years now. I've tried them all except the paper one. The original (she uses the smaller delicate paws one in the video) has been my favourite.
Great video. This is a never ending struggle. Ugh kitty litter. If I find one that clips well. It travels everywhere. Even on my bed all over the house. If I find one that doesn't travel it stinks to high heaven and it does not clump well. I found one that was almost perfect. But the cats do not like it at all. Nothing worse than lavender pee smell throughout the whole house. The cement or the crumbs? One is back breaking the other is just a waste of time to scoop and their paws smell like pee The search has been ongoing for 8 yrs. And will continue.
Currently im using a pine pellet (6$ for 40lbs) from tractor supply, its a horse and animal bedding! Its great for the pee, but doesnt work great for the poop smell unless theres enough sawdust from the pee to encrust the poops to block the smell
@MeloCat I plan too, don't worry! Her litter box is open, and I haven't noticed a lot of dust, but I fully plan to change to a different one eventually! Just can't beat the price and how long it lasts with my current financial situation, lol! But thank you so much for the test video!!! I had been thinking about okocat
Wonderful, thanks for being so attentive. Love!!! Yeah locate us a dust storm and the dust is super duper fine I won't recommend it unless you want to make a MV for darude sandstorm...
I use paper pellets currently for one of my boxes. The other one is grass seed, horrible tracking but amazing clumping and cleaning. If all my cats were willing i would use the grass seed only, because the paper pellets stink after like 3 days. The cat pee smell is so strong because it just soaks in. I am going to try this tofu litter because it looks to be the same consistency but clumps!
Thanks for this candid review. I loved the disappointed auntie voice XD That synthetic litter is scary! The dust is toxic, and with it tracking everywhere and getting stuck in their little toes I don't even want to think about them accidentally ingesting a desiccant! Hell naw! I was considering Sustainably Yours and Okocat, so I'm glad to see that they made the running even if they weren't perfect. I think it's a matter of finding the right formula/grain for your cat and preference.
Great video!! Thanks for testing out those litters so I don't have to hahah. I like crystal litter (not the brand you tried in particular) but agree that it tracks all over the house so that's a big con for me.
Don't use litter with fragrance or baking soda according to the vet i work for (cat-only, cat specialty clinic). Also, my cat Angus got lung cancer from clay dust (before i knew better i used wrong stuff).
@@crochet937 wood pellets like for fireplace inserts, but you generally have to start them on it as kittens or they won't like it. Otherwise, World's Best Cat Litter is good, so is Dr. Elsey's Cat Litter and Okocat and Petfive's Sustainably Yours Cat Litter
We trained our kittens on wood pellets (the ones labeled for pellet stoves... "Cat" ones are same but more expensive), but not all cats will agree to switch. Try a corn, wheat, soy, or recycled paper based litter. World's Best litter, Dr Elsey's, Yesterday's News, Okocat
I use hard wood pellets in my dog’s litter box - these are pellets made to be burned in a wood pellet stove They cost $7 for a 22kg bag - much the same idea as feline pine but much (much!) cheaper and no piney smell When she pees on them it just smells like sawdust. It only smells like urines when I’m scooping the unused pellets from the sawdust before I dump the sawdust - the sawdust can be disposed of in a green bin or composter
I put it in the description just now, please check it out! Top loaders are sturdy just if you have older cats or smaller cats they have a hard time getting in and out, and if they got joint pains they probably don't want to jump in and out due to that so make sure you have other ones that are easy to get into
Omg the way you opened the Okocat one, nooooooooo lol. There are perforations on the side of the box at the top that you just punch out so you can easily pour it. We get the 19.8 lb boxes of the Original Premium Wood Clumping litter. It's more coarse than the one in the video, not for delicate paws. Not nearly that dusty though, presumably since they're larger.
I've been using Okocat for my babies, my diva boy with sensitive paws loves it and it's the only non-clay, non-pellet litter my other one won't eat. It tracks everywhere, it sticks to their paws and even with a big ol litter mat I end up with litter all over everything.. It's definitely not no-dust but I've been happy with the clumping and odor control. I live in 350 sqft with two cats so odor control is a must for me, lol! I'd rather not move to clay litter but goodness the tracking is driving me up the wall :(
I think you will like sustainably yours , try the find grain for sensitive paws but the tracking is more but still ok in terms of dust as they are like beach sand so just keep a mat in front of the litter box so it won't go too far
I've been buying pine pellets from my local Menards store! $7 for 40 lbs. Milwaukee, WI. Doesn't get any better than that! I have 3 cats and REALLY want 5-6. Loving your videos! You got a new subscriber!! I have a question, how can you have so many cats? Here in Wisconsin you can only have 2-3 cats per apartment but I WILL find a way to have more babies 😭
Have you seen "world's best cat litter"? Corn based. Works pretty good. Some people I cat sit for use it. We use wood stove pellets. Cheap! Cats used to clay litter may not want to switch to it, but we started our kittens on it and they don't care.
I couldn't handle the tracking of Sustainably Yours. I primarily use a soy (tofu) litter from Kitty Poo Club that works well on clumping. I'm currently trying a silica (not fine grain) as well, and I'm still not sure about it yet. You're right, no litter is perfect.
Tofu pellets (can be expensive) but why no review on pine bedding pellets? The most absorbent and cost effective litter on the market today 7-8 dollars for a 40 lb bag and will last for months.
If the litter sticks to the box like cement, it’s doing the same in between the cats toes! The only way they can get it out is to bite it our. If you see your cats cleaning their paws in a way that looks like biting their nails, that’s not good. That’s the cement! Use Oko. It’s the best.
There is no tofu litter in your amazon store...I want to buy from your link but it’s not in it😮I saw the link in an other video but I don’t remember which one...I though all would be in amazon
I use PetOneCat Tofu Cat Litter, available on Amazon, 1.5mm diameter, it is the only one currently in use and is much better than other tofu cat litters.
Let me double check, but at the description you can see the soy litters I suggested that I used this is video (note: soy is the same as tofy litter) see it? The sustainably yours is a soy litter too on there~
No! You don’t open the Oko from the top! There’s a spout on the side of it. You missed it. I Love the spout on the side of the box. It is wood shavings with a small amount of clumping agent. Look, if you want a healthy cat, and you don’t want the cement litter full of glues and poisons, then wool shavings and natural materials are going to be a little dusty. Isn’t that worth the health of your cats? I think so.
I'm trying my best to get mine to use PELLETS--- and I've had them in here for a month or two- and FINALLY two of them have used it ONCE-- so maybe it will catch on now and I can GET RID of the clay!!! I don't care about all that-- except that the pellets are PERFECT--- and MUCH healthier than the clay for the cats AND ME-- I have breathing issues anyway-- and it was KILLING me..
