Best Chinese Food Restaurant Black Owned in St. Louis, MO | Leftys Fried Rice | Urban Eats

In my first episode of Urban Eats TV I visited Lefty's Fried Rice in St. Louis, MO. A Black Owned Chinese Food Restaurant located at 3000 South Jefferson Ave on the Southside of St. Louis. Owners are a husband and wife team Lefty and Chan.
Can a Black Couple compete with a market dominated by Chinese?
Well let me the first to tell you YES YES YES!!! They are more than competing in the market, they are dominating it. Lets just say a healthier choice to the normally greasy Chinese Food we normally get.
I started off with a St. Louis Classic Shrimp St. Paul, let me tell you its bigger than what you would normally get and the flavors in Lefty's St. Paul will hit every hit all the points on the score board. The taste is perfect the texture perfect. It seems that it was shrimp throughout this St. Louis Classic.

As as born n raised St Louis native I can vouch for a lot of great Chinese food here. Lefty's Big Boys Burgers and the low mein King are all black owned and operated and simply amazing...❤️💪🏾💯

One of the best things I had in St Louis when I lived there was a St Paul sandwich. So simple, but so good.

I'm from Chicago, but I'll definitely vouch that the St. Louis area (including Southwest Illinois - Granite City, East St. Louis, and Cahokia) has the best Chinese food ever. Their worst restaurant is better than 95% of the ones in Chicago.

NO LIES TOLD!!! LEFTY’S IS THE BEST THAT I’VE HAD!! I appreciate how clean the restaurant is and how professional they are. They did not disappoint!!! Their crab rangoon is DELICIOUS with the sweet and sour sauce 😋

I’m from St. Louis and I grew up on all the good Chinese restaurants. Right now the best St. Paul sandwich 🥪 I have ever tasted in my life is at, “The Rice House” in Florissant. They have Asian fusion food. It is excellent! I don’t like the gravy in my rice, I love the Duck Juice in my rice. Super fire 🔥.

I am also from St Louis, born and raised. Graduated from Sumner High School. I currently reside in Phoenix, AZ and have lived here for 20 years. There is no where in the entire state the even knows what a St Paul sandwich is. I'm barely finding restaurants that even make egg foo young out here. They don't have sweet'n sour packets nor red pepper packets. It's a sad state of affairs. That sandwich has to be a St Louis thing. Every time I visit home Chinese food is a must have from Chong Wah on Lindell. And a shrimp st Paul sandwich is what I always order. Next time I'm home definitely gonna find Lefty's and try them out.

Yeah Lefty’s is delicious! Now there is another black owned restaurant on St. Charles Rock Road, that serves fried rice but it’s terrible. Lefty’s is the real deal! I hope they open another location in North Downtown city…please ❤

I was in St. Louis in August for a week long large convention. I wish I would have known about this place. But my friend from college from East St. Louis, IL went to a Chinese restaurant with me and some other friends while we were in South Carolina. She ordered fried rice and asked for gravy on her rice... We were looking her all crazy and even the restaurant staff too. But she told us what it was and how good it was. I never tried it. I'll stick to my Soy sauce. 😋☺️🤓🍚

Hey Chris, this video takes me back to the old days on the EAST side. I remember when you introduced me to this meal 6 or 7 years ago. I just ate this 3 weeks ago. I pulled up in front of “a different place” ,thought of you, and decided to order this. I always thought you had the personality to be in front of the camera, not just behind. Born and raised in The Lou and I cannot find chinese food anywhere that's better than what you can get in St Louis. My go to place was a joint in U City called Chong Wah's. Took the family on a trip back to my hometown about 20 years ago and tried to find the restaurant. It's no longer there. Going to have to try Leftys next time I'm in town. That St Pauls looked really good.
