This is the Soto Mattress from DOD Outdoors; Soto means outside in Japanese. Speaking of which, DOD Outdoors is a Japanese outdoor company who has been impressing me a lot lately with their products.
With the Soto Mattress it is the most comfortable that I have EVER used but.....

My Use and Experience :
I’ve been testing this product out for a number of months now, summer going into the fall and winter; I’ve used it on warm nights with temps in the mid 60’s and cool nights with temps down to 20f.
Review Pros :
Mattress is Supremely comfortable - sleep in any position and it’s comfort city - you aren’t going to feel anything that’s under you.
Pillow is very comfortable - it’s not thick but that’s how I like my pillows - your opinion may vary on this
Excellent quality
Smart design - use the pillow to inflate the Mattress
Comfortable sheets
Incredible r-value : does an incredible job at blocking the cold from underneath you - I used this on a truck camping trip and was really, really impressed at how warm and comfortable it was. This Mattress has provided the warmest and most comfortable nights sleep in my truck that I have ever had.
Versatile product - can use for camping, in a cabin, in your vehicle and so on
good looking product
Review Cons :
Price : There is no way around this, this sleeping mattress is pricey. That’s not to say that it isn’t worth the cost as you are getting a lot for the money; the Mattress, a pillow, and sheets for both. This is a premium product and the price represents that.
Storage bag is a too small for this setup - requires a very tight roll for everything to fit
Cumbersome and a bit difficult to roll up
Summary :
While expensive I’ve really grown to love this Mattress. Again, it is by far the most comfortable Matts that I have ever been on.
The r-value is incredible for winter time camping and at the same time, isn’t all that warm in the summer.
If you’re looking for a versatile mattress, I would recommend taking a look at this…..if you can afford it.

Luke once again you amazed us with your honest reviews. We bought the Ridgelight and because you gave it such great reviews we had to wait to get it lol. The company gave you credit for the great review as they should. They gave us the Carabiners for free. My friend I'm a Veteran and your Strength and Honor motto is spot on. We live in Greeley Colorado and we are hoping to meet you some day,it would be a honor for us. Because of your adventures and reviews we go camping a lot more and we have bought equipment you have recommended. Thank you for what you do and keep up the good work. Hey, I have a similar product from a company called Outwell. The trick to expelling all the air and getting it rolled up super tight is to roll it up (exactly as you did in your vid), then unroll it again (with the valve remaining closed so air can't get in) and repeat the rolling process to squeeze out more air. The first roll doesn't get out all the air
@Pink_Sky_By_Night_Adventures
I have an Exped mattress, if you fold it in quarters, squeezing the air out as you fold first, then roll it, so much easier and will roll up smaller every time. I would also ditch the pillow bag and let it lay flat against the mattress in the bag 👍

We have an Exped megamat duo and it’s as comfortable as our mattress at home. We learnt the hard way with other lesser mattress/sleeping pads before we got to the Exped. With an R value of 8.1 we have never felt cold from below. The pillow and it’s ability to pump up the mattress is a great idea. We have the same struggle to compress the mattress after use but it’s still worth the effort, a good nights sleep is priceless.

I have the megamat too and I agree that’s it’s great. I believe it’s less expensive than this one. I found the deflation easier than what I see him doing, I just store it in half up in my iKamper mini. I removed the iKamper foam mattress and put in carpet.

Looks like an excellent addition to my "must have" equipment list. I was waiting to hear your review on this, but the big thing was the dimensions. My 7x14 enclosed is be configured with XL Disc-O-Bed bunks (1 set) and a Disc-O-Bed trundle single. These will fit the bunks just perfectly. My wife tried the trundle and didn't like the way it sagged, so I have been looking for a mattress/inflatable sleep pad to put on top. These are expensive for my budget, but I have three people to include myself to keep comfortable and rested. So I will figure a way to pull the trigger on them, if even if I have to spread out the purchases over a few months. Thanks for another excellent product review.

On Amazon for $274 you can get a Thermorest mono king 3-D mattress. It comes with a self inflating bag and a repair kit and the Stuff sack is also your inflator. This mattress has a 9R value. I’ve used this once and it was very comfortable. However, if you put a silver close Cell foam pad underneath it, it will slide around on that. Comparing the two prices for an extra 20 some dollars you can get this DOD mattress. I agree that the price of the DOD could be cheaper but so could the Thermorest mattress. Thank you for the review I will keep it in mind if I need to purchase another one.

Have an Exped Megamat and Zempire Monstamat that are similar (cheaper though). Easiest way to get any of them rolled up is the 'Exped way' ie roll into thirds, body weight to squeeze majority of air out. Then roll how you did it with the knees. Most are one easy valves. Exped and Zempire of ours roll down small and with room to spare in their bags.

I have a similar mattress... when packing it away, I find it's a lot easier if you plan to do so in more than one go. That is, instead of working hard to get all the air out in one pass, simply not try as hard but with the valve still in the closed/exhale position, unroll it and wrap it up again. On the second time around, getting the rest of the air out will be a lot easier (because it will be much less bulky).

Mine I have to open and close the valve as I'm trying to deflate it. I also don't just use my knees. I use my whole body to try and get the air out of it. I've had some strange looks while I'm crawling and bouncing around trying to roll it up. There's always that secret win feeling you get when you get them in the stupidly small bags. You can celebrate because all you want to do is collapse after fighting with a mattress

As always such an honest review of this. I would have to aagree that the price for this item is rather high by my opinion atleast 100$, i can see paying around 200 for this quality of comfort. Now as far as deflating it, in my experience with similar style/type of mattresses or sleeping pads if you roll out the air the first time unroll it and do a second rolling deflate, that somehow seems to get out just that extra bit of air that can make a huge difference in getting it back in the pack easy or slightly not so easy.

It has the exact same one-way valve, less R value but still very warm in cold weather. It's about 6 lbs. This is probably the closest mattress to the Soto one in terms of design and sizing. I have been using it for the last 2 years on a daily basis - when not camping I use it for naps. The reviews on REI were not that great. Most complained about the valve being short-lived. I have my fingers crossed. Hopefully I can still use it for a couple more years.

This looks similar to Term a Rest MondoKing 3D XXL version but without the pillow. I'd really like to compare to this, i'm planning to get one before the camping season in spring and summer.

Very cool design for using the pillow as an inflation tool for the main mattress. It looks really nice. And for that price, I would expect nothing less than max comfort. Definitely an investment, but a nice product. Thanks again for the nice show and tell.

I can make roll up a little easier. Open valve. Lay on it flat to push out some air. Fold in half and lay on it again to push out a second amount of air. Then do the roll method last. It goes much easier.

It's easier to roll it up if you lay on it and roll yourself across it first. I have a DX Thermarest (unfortunately without a oneway valve) that I just unscrew the cap, lay on it until it's mostly deflated, then roll it up. It's probably fun to watch me pull this off because it takes some pretty quick maneuvering so it doesn't re-inflate! The other con I see is the same one I have with the Thermarest, you shouldn't store it for any long period with it totally compressed, so finding a place to keep it can get interesting. I've had mine inflated for about 7 years leaning against the space behind my closet door and in all that time it has barely lost any air whatsoever.

Seems very similar to the Thermarest MondoKing 3D that I use. I think it would compare very favorably to the DoD, even on price. The 88x30in XXL can be found for around $200 on sale.

Thanks Luke! I watch these videos on a Roku which doesn't seem to give the option to give thumbs up so I try to go find the video on my phone to do it. Anyhow, I have a similar mattress, did not come with the cool accessories though. I find it to be very comfortable like a real bed. Its my go to unless the weight or size is an issue. I recently bought an REI Helix lightweight air pad for backpacking. It is comfortable for a lightweight air mattress and r value is 4.9 but I question durability. It was new this year and I would love you to review it but they already discontinued it. Maybe that gives me my answer...

Luke, in Australia, these type of mats are called 4WD mats. They are priced anywhere from $80aud, up to $300aud.

Decathlon has a nearly identic matress with R9.7 for 99€ in europe. You could try to get your hands on that one too.

I have a similar mattress. To begin deflating, I fold it in half and lay on it. It gets about 75% of the air out then I start rolling.

I won a very similar mattress from HeyTrip in a photo contest, pretty much same size, same exact valve, and it is so comfy and warm, it's also about $120. I have since switched to a DeepSleep mattress which is essentially the same comfy and warm self inflating foam, just shaped to fit in the back of a vehicle.

@@babybumpaftertr only reason it's no longer my main camping mattress is that it's rather bulky in the back of my car with a fridge haha

$80-100 of that cost is shipping in there as they ship straight from Japan.

If you went on the TV Series "Alone" and took one of these, a high quality sleeping bag, a really good tarp, a pan, a flint and steal, and 5 bags of rations for your 10 items, you would last longer than a lot of people, and feel like it was an hotel.

It looks pretty dang comfortable, but for $300 and that pack size! Even car camping in a small SUV with anyone more than yourself and it would take up a lot of space.

There are a few others out there with similar constructions. They all boast similar comfort and warmth. They might be a way to coax a special someone that won't go car camping with you. They won't even fit in a backpack or kayak hatch.

It’s a nice product but I still like my double roamer by Nemo and the roamer single xl wide it’s 4 inches thick and the r value is decent enough to not feel cold air have you tried it yet just wondering I haven’t seen you used that yet it’s easier to store than this you should make an comparison thanks love the vids
