I think it’s awesome that we have a number of options available, and that they can update on the fly. Back in my day, Wizard and Overstreet were the only price guides available 😅

Great video, Regie. I have enjoyed Covrprice with CLZ. The two have been essential to my collecting.

Same. Definitely not for every situation, but in an LCS or scrolling eBay, it gives a good baseline for the retail cost of a given book or grade.

In collecting I use key collector for identifying some comic significances like first appearance, etc. and a rough idea of some prices on raw comics but use Go Collect for slabbed comics. I do look at Price Charting as a last resort but it seems they do not update regularly.

Great video!! I have an old collection of comics and trading cards I want to move simply on the fact they are just sitting in storage and I no longer need want them around when I think some could have some value. Appreciate your advice and hope you have a good day. 🍻

Best comic pricing guide- EBAY. (& I still say you need some individually hand-crafted CUSTOM frames for those slabs on the wall) I make frames like you've never seen. That's a guarantee.

I gave up on paying for a bunch of apps, just eating into my wallet. For sales-pricing a book I use a combination of auction sites (ebay plus comic-specific auction sites), mycomicshop, keycollector and Overstreet (I use overstreet not to determine sale prices but for appearances and story points - keycollector doesn't list them all) and I don't pay for any of them. I use overstreet as my BUYING guide as I consider them to be the floor of what a book's potential value is (unless it's valued at cover price only - to me that means a book is really only worth 50 cents to $2.00). I might end up walking away from a lot of books but you can believe I've never overpaid for one.

Glad you enjoyed it. At 3:15 in the video I explain that the focus would be on digital pricing services. But, to answer your question directly I have never and will never use Overstreet to price my comics. That's like buy stocks using values listed in the newspaper when you have a up to the second ticker available on your phone. LOL

Oh my god, your BMW speech. I lost all respect. Okay, maybe just a little. But BMW drivers seem to often be a particular type - the same type of people who like the Dallas Cowboys and the NY Yankees. And isn't your dream car a Porsche?

My personal and I stress personal opinion on this is that if it wasn’t for eBay for the most part or any online auctioning service, (WhatNot), the comic book pricing bible would still be the Overstreet Price Guide. I know my comic shop uses eBay to price his books and if he used the OPG he’d be under pricing. I’ve even heard of comic shops pricing with eBay at the register which is a bad practice and I’d most likely refuse to buy if I encountered a shop who did this. But my main point is that I believe over time comic book prices have inflated because of these different sales venues. And of course my biggest contributor to this is CGC. you could own the most pristine Action Comics #1 but if it wasn’t CGCed you’d probably lose 40% of selling it.. my two cents..
@RegieCollects
@RegieCollects Год назад
I'm trying to understand you point of view but I'm struggling. You state that using Overstreet would result in books being underprice and on the other hand you say that values are overinflated?? There is a reason that people do not buy stocks based upon values printed in a newspaper anymore. The reason being that anything that is printed is automatically outdated because it cannot reflect prices at the current moment. I would add that a limited number of dealers, the subjectivity of grading, a limited number of actual sales at a given grade, combined with the natural delays in printing limits the utility of anything in Overstreet outside of the great articles. Edit: Lastly, a copy of Action Comics 1 raw would not lose value if it wasn't graded. It just would not have as much value as if it were graded. Those things are not the same. Grading a comic removes risk. Risk of color touch, restoration, etc. The removal of risk has value in our society so it should not be any different for the hobby.

@@RegieCollects I guess my point is that without the internet comic prices would most likely have either stagnated or rose very slowly. Having immediate reactions to some hot book would not exist. In a nut shell the ability of immediate changes in value has made collecting a much more expensive hobby. Sorry, Regie my friend but I’m almost 69 so I’m very old school when it comes to certain things.
