I love your reviews; they are down to earth and to the point about features that a common person would be interested in knowing. I especially appreciate the decibels for interior noise. And, the seat comfort and adjustment for both driver and front passenger is very important since many people have back problems. I have noticed that foreign manufacturers aren't as keen as the American brands for back support which is unfortunate.

Pretty good top picks. As a Tucson HEV owner I can confirm the great ride and value for money this car offers. In my country the KIA only comes with black interiors and the light grey inside of the Tucson nails it for me. Plus the interior design looks special and has not been copied by Hyundai in other models. Great you pronounce the name Sportage the right way. Not that fancy Sportaaaaaaaage most English reviewers seem te like.

My current and previous vehicles are Kia Sorentos (2017 and 2019). I had planned to keep my current one for a while longer until I saw and started reading reviews on the new Kia Sportage Hybrid EX. Now my only goal is to figure out how to afford one. My payment would nearly double unless I put a decent down payment down, so saving that is my next goal. I love that it's your number one choice and I appreciate the review! Lots of good information to make informative decisions.

@ImlowOnBattery

I wouldn’t focus too hard on monthly payments unless you are living paycheck to paycheck-in that case then looking to upgrade if your current rides are perfectly fine should be the least of your concerns. When shopping around vehicles, you want to focus on getting as close to if not below MSRP as your principle payment. You should pay most attention to this and the gross total payment after interest.

Rav4 is number one spot in my book, just recently Kia has had some major engine malfunctions and recalls. A coworker of mine had his engine blow up and catch on fire while I was on the phone with him. Toyota has way better reliability than Kia or Hyundai. Yes Kia & Hyundai are the cheaper option but you get what you pay for. Top of all that Kia & Hyundai's are easy to steal and often targeted by thieves.

Thanks for another good video. The ding on the top three (4)? You're basically talking about the hybrid models. All of which are quite hard to come by. Thus they really should be in the 2024 category. :) The gas models are slower than CX-50 and Rogue. CX-50 has power, but lacking cargo space. The Rogue comes under 8 seconds and has the best gas fuel economy in class and adequate cargo space. Outlander is a Compact SUV?

We ordered a new CRV Hybrid, and your review certainly paid a part in it. One factor that we had to take into account was something you couldn't include in your review. The Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson were higher on our list, but the hybrid models were (and are) both selling for up to $10K over MSRP. They aren't that much better than the CRV (which we got at MSRP). If you add in that additional money, and the greed/arrogance of the dealers, you might find that the CRV was the best on your list. (Neither of us cared for the RAV4, we found it aesthetically bland, both inside and out). So thanks, you helped us out a lot (plus I got my Audi A5, also partly because of your revies). Good work!

Does Kia teach their salespeople to be arrogant? The one we spoke with was so horrible- wanting 12% over MSRP and extra charges if we bought off the lot bc of “convenience” I was instantly turned off by them and reserved a new Honda instead at MSRP! I did have to get 4 out-the-door quotes to find one who didn’t add unnecessary fees though. But, the Honda salespeople compared to the Kia ones were like day and night. Kia sales guy was telling me how unreliable Honda is and I drive up in my 14 year old CR-V that’s had zero drivetrain issues. I had to replace the motor in my wipers but I live in Seattle-rain city! Otherwise any issue I’ve had had no effect of the safety or ability to drive the car.

Same story for me as well. After 5 unsuccessful negotiations with the Tuscon Hybrid (due to markups and added stuff), I got lucky with a CR-V Hybrid Sport just $600 under MSRP. Although it does not have as many bells and whistles as the Tuscon for the money (ref: MSRP), I bought it for its space, predictable handling and comfort. Dealer was reasonable, so i was happy to oblige. I refuse to pay markup. I'm not that desperate.

I would caution most people to always check the reliability ratings of vehicles. Nissan's CVTs are notoriously unreliable. The new Ford Bronco has had numerous recalls. Mitsubishi's reliability goes without saying (okay, I'll say it: it's way below average). Kia is really the only brand putting up consistently high ratings across their new line-up, but there's definitely a shadow looming over Kia/Hyundai now.

I didn't think my CX-9 was any better than the Honda PP that I now own. I test drove a CX-5 and CX-50 yesterday and was totally unimpressed with both vehicles. I think my next vehicle will be some sort of base model because there hasn't been one single car, I've been crazy about in the last twenty years. Everything on the market in all categories (e.g., compact, midsize) seem to be very similar.

Dynamic driving only shows when you constantly drive faster than allowed. Even on small and twitchy roads every modern car behaves pretty well when kept within the speed limit. The sportage is very nice, but Kias ain’t that economical anymore. Dealers are listing a $1,000 “market adjustment” charge so you’re paying extra for no reason whatsoever. Also, base trim CR-V hybrid sport is actually cheaper than the base trim sportage which lacks SEVERAL features (remote start, push start) that the base CR-V has. Plus, I’d also bet good money the CR-V will hold its value in 3-5 years vs the Kia. It was an obvious choice for me.

@@bluesdemitra38 Yeah. KIA sales departments suck the big one, but they do have amazing looking vehicles. I will say the service department was spectacular though. I actually had a KIA Seltos lease from back in 2021- it was to be 4 years. After hearing about people trading in leases early, or selling their vehicles in these times for increased value, I decided to see what Hyundai would do for me this past July in buying out my lease. The value of my Seltos went up from what it should have been, so I made out really well at Hyundai on the last day of the month. With the equity in my Seltos, they marked down my $40,000 Tucson Limited to about $33,00 and I didn’t need a down payment. The Seltos SX was rock solid, and I was only going to part with it for a huge deal. I wanted the Tucson mainly for the extra room in the back seat, and I fell in love with the exterior and interior of the Tucson. So far so good! I’m just giving you sh*t. Out of the compact SUV competition, I do like the current CR-V, as they have come a long way in the design/looks department. I bet that sport trim looks nice with the blacked out wheels!

I would on the other hand would never buy a Tiguan because that 2.0 liter is infamous for blowing head gaskets and burning oil at low mileage, and this is not just reserved to the Tiguan, it's on all Audi/VW vehicles. I personally know 3 people that have failed engines with less than 50k miles on them. Definitely not okay. We just got a 2023 crv and it has everything I could want on it and I didn't have to pay 8k in markup (like hyundai/kia in my area). The pano sunroof does nothing for me as well as the 360 camera and that's pretty much all it doesn't have, we'll besides a heated stearing wheel, but we can put one in with no big deal. The only reason I didn't go with the rav was I hate the interior and I feel like everyone drives one, so I wanted something different. Honda has never let me down.
