I've been wearing Biofinity Toric XRs. Now that I'm 40 and the ability to read fine print isn't as good as it used to be, I had my eye doctor prescribe me with Biofinity Toric Multifocals. I just picked them up yesterday and I've been wearing them. My visions almost like it was in my late 20s, early 30s. The way they work is weird, but believe me, they work! I heard there was some adaptation as your brain learns what to do with the "2 images" being projected on your retina. I really don't notice any of that. So the adaptation isn't long at all. Only thing is that instead of 1 rainbow halo around the street lights and traffic lights at night, there's 2.
Couldn't be happier with Ultra for astigmatism/presbyopia. Fitting was very easy and I now have clear vision throughout near and far. Much better than just toric lenses since my distance is good but close up was strained. I didn't like the fact that I had to carry a pair of reading glasses. I might have well just kept wearing my progressive eyeglasses. They are very comfortable and I forget that the lenses are in most times. They're especially great when I'm at the computer and when I'm on my smartphone.
Going in a few days to get fitted with contacts (I have worn them before), but am looking at the toric multifocal. At 51, I do not need correction up close due to my level of myopia, but intermediate and far distance are two completely different negative diopter prescriptions. I do have astigmatism and am looking for the crispest possible vision, especially at night (the starring of the street lights and headlights has always been an issue for me). If they say multifocal GP/RGP are my best option, then I will try them. I have tried monovision and could not get used to it. I tried multifocal back when they first came out and could not get used to them. I am hoping this new generation of multifocal will be much easier to adjust to than prior ones.
Just picked up the Ultra toric multi today. I only have the astigmatism in my left eye. The right eye was fitted with an Ultra multifocal. Hoping this works for me. As of right now only having them in a few hours, vision comes and goes. Dealing with dry eye as well.
I have tried multi-focal lenses before, and it was so frustrating to me because the lenses never showed clear vision whenever there was dim lighting. Therefore, I could not drive at night with the lenses on (there were halos around car lights & street lights, I couldn't read street signs, and because of the blurred vision of the lenses I could not judge clearly how close I was to a vehicle), nor could I see clearly in a dimly lit room. I have tried several brands, but Biofinity & 1-day multi-focal are the names that come to mind at the moment that I've tried. Do all multi-focal lenses have these cons? Do you have any suggestions that can help this matter?
This is my exact situation. But when I reported seeing "ghost images" with my trial pair of lenses, the Dr. basically shrugged and said that's multifocal and my vision was 20/20 so go out front and order them. What? He didn't ask any questions. He didn't offer to try a different brand of multifocal or even suggest that I go back to regular contacts. Nothing. He was willing to let me walk around with blurry vision. And I ride a motorcycle. Clearly, I have to find a new optometrist.
Where have you been, all my life. I’ve been begging for these lenses since 2005. I did that progressive glasses. Waited til today and I’m wearing trials right now. Let’s see how they work out. Enjoyed watching, thank you
Do toric multifocal lenses always contain an element of MONO vision? I got my first toric multi focal lenses recently, and to my dismay, they are also slightly mono-vision. Right eye far and left eye close, but the contrast is less severe than when I tried mono vision the first time without multi-focals. My optometrist says that is just the way it is done. Is that even true? I see okay up close, but my distance vision is not comfortable. My right eye sees clearly, but my left eye is blurry and my brain is supposed to compensate for it, but I keep feeling the blur in my left eye and my distance vision is not crisp. Near vision is great.
The lens is now available in -2.25 and -2.75 cyl. Unfortunately, there is not a daily disposable multifocal toric lens option at this time. I’m cautiously optimistic about the future tho!
I just tried a trial pair of B&L mutlifocal toric lenses and love them. I previously wore Acuvue Oasis for astigmatism. Do they not yet have a multifocal toric lens?
Biofinity Toric Multifocal. As had cataract surgery in my late 40s and opted for good near vision as was Myopic before. I have quite a high add. The Contact lens prescription is a +2.00 ADD. I'm a -2.25 in both eyes and with 1.00 cyl. With these lenses I've gone with a 0.75 cyl. Best lens I've tried but I do not wear lenses everyday.
I just tried the B&L Multifocals for astigmatism. I kept waiting for them to work correctly. Put them in at 9am and by 3pm while driving, I had to pull over and take them out. I kept getting blurriness and especially when I look up or try to see far off in a distance. They were not that great for reading either. I had to keep putting on my readers to see anything in small print. These were a trial pair and I'm going back to my doctor tomorrow for a consult.
My first time trying multifocal contact lenses was like that. Then a few weeks later I tried them again and voila, they worked. I guess my brain somehow had adapted.
I have them for the first day, perfect far away vision, but close by it is not good , like mobile or computer letters :( what I normally can see without any glasses at all. My prescription is per -3.00 CYL -0.75 AX 090 ADD +1.5 D I think the last ADD should be different , should I better try less like +1.25 of more +1.75
Very hopeful options. B+L Ultra looks like only providing high and low ADD. I am now wearing Medium ADD for the Dailies Total 1. If the prescriptions is +2.00 for ADD, should I choose High or Low?
I'm new to contact lens and was given the B&L multifocal for astigmatism. It's day 3 of wearing it and I still can't read things close at hand on computer or tiny words. Not sure how long it will take to straighten out so I can do long-distance AND close up vision.
can you explain how these are different than the biofinity xr. I have used the xr's before prob about 3-5yrs ago. did not really get used to them. eyes seemed to dry out very quickly. are these different than those? had very few choices back then because of such a high script. also currently use progressive glasses. on borderline of progressive to bifocals.
Tried the Biofinity Toric for 6 months. Ok for right eye but inconsistent on the left. Both useless by the evening unfortunately. Trying to get hold of some trial B & L as I am in the UK and only just appearing here.
The Bausch + Lomb ULTRA family of contact lenses (single vision, toric, multifocal and multifocal toric) are available across the UK through independent opticians and larger chains like Vision Express.
Im using the Ultra mulfifocal in the left eye and a ultra for astigmatism in the right eye, but i still cant see close or in dim light. May need a high add but this was my first try and we got all the lenses mixed up
Dim light is tough for any multifocal but you should be able to see up close when the prescription is dialed in. Follow up with your eye doctor to see if they can make an adjustment to improve your near vision.
@@RyanReviewsOptometry I have a similar problem as Sabrina, astigmatic on my right eye and have tried Total 1 multifocal wich give great comfort and distant vision and B&L ultra multifocal wich gives me better near vision but due to uncorrected astigmatism on the right eye I feel it could be improved. Is having a multifocal on one eye and an astigmatic lens on the other an advisable approach? Multifocal Toric lenes are unfortunately not available yet in my country and I would also prefer a daily over a monthly contact lens. My spectacle prescription is: R sp -4,75, cyl -2,5, ax 35, add 2.25 L sp -6,00, cyl -0,5, ax 75, add 2.25
@@JG-ke7gj stressful for seeing close, so definitely not ideal prescription. But I'll go back before the end of the year. I think i have to understand it will never be perfect but i want contacts. It's mostly fine print i cant read but i got some readers to wear over them when needed. Distance is great and that's what i preferred to have
I still prefer Acuview Oasys for Astigmatism monovision. They always stay in place. I'll take them any day, even though the left doesn't go high enough. Can't wait until there is a 3.25.
Yep Alcon needs to get on the bus and make a Precision 1 multifocal toric. I wear the Ultra MF for Astigmatism and I like them but I need a higher add.
Only a few hours in Biofinity’s multifocal torics. So far, the comfort is the awesome 👍🏽 I’m 56 & nearsighted. So, w/o eyeglasses, I can only see clearly from up to a foot or less from my nose👨🏽🦯 So far, the Biofinity’s provide clear enough text from an arms length out. However, text becomes increasingly blurry, as I pull my iPhone towards me. Will follow up to see if any power can be added to correct text that’s close up. Regardless, I’m sold. This is the best I’ve been able to see out of contacts for years. Also, the comfort is unmatched in comparison to my Acuvue dailies.
I just started with contacts a couple of weeks ago, B&L multifocal. My doc said these are a pain to apply and remove and I think he's right. However, when I can get them in, they are awesome, especially on mobile close-up. My doc had them in stock.
Update: I've only successfully gotten them in for 3 days the past 3-4 weeks. Beyond frustrating. Super sensitive eyelid reflex. I've tried everything from applicators to Gorilla Glue. . . . . . . . Ok...maybe not Gorilla Glue. Yet.
@@MNP208 Yep. What sucks is when I got them and they sat me down for training, right eye went 1st try, left eye 3rd. So I thought "this is gonna be easy." Well......
@@robertrose3068 Just like everything else in life... it does get easier with practice! I've been wearing contacts for so long that I thought it strange when I found out people were squeamish about touching their corneas! 😂
