I've bookmarked this video, and refer to it every time I have to remove and reinstall the guard. GREAT, and HELPFUL video! Subscribed.

I've watched 3 other videos for this type of breaking grinder and this is by far the best one. Ty

Wow thx! I ultimately went with a variable speed version of the grinder. 👍

Thank you, I hoped it would help folks out. The only thing I still sometimes think about is paddle switch vs a slide switch. I did decide to get a variable speed grinder, it’s worth the extra money. Thanks for watching!

I have a few of them and love them. Call me lazy but I hate stopping to change between different discs so I just dedicate each one to a different disc then I can just grab a different grinder for whatever the task calls for. The convenience is hard to beat.

That's a great idea, makes it much faster to keep moving and all the more reason to get them on sale!

Thanks. The only thing I’d consider now is the on/off switch type. You could argue that the black toggle switch type on this grinder is a better switch. Thanks for watching!

@@projectpinehills Thanks for the heads up. I got the variable speed with the paddle switch, but haven't used it yet, so I'll have to think about the toggle switch. I have an old corded Milwaukee with a toggle switch, and figured the paddle switch would be a little safer to use, but I could see the paddle switch being inconvenient for certain tasks.

Paddle switch is safer. Thats what I reasoned. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. I have been contemplating buying of these one as Home Depot has a promotion on for a free battery. Looking to replace my corded mastercraft 4.5", every time I go to use it I find I am just at the end of reach of the cord, so annoying. I have lots of other cordless Milwaukee m18 and m12 stuff already.

QUESTION- I went to my local hardware store and they had TWO grinders with the same part number 2880-20. The only difference is one had rapid stop and one did not. WHICH IS THE NEWER MODEL? Thank you!
@projectpinehills
@projectpinehills Год назад
I think the one with rapid stop. I suggest getting one with variable speed too for when using a wire wheel or cup. Keeps the wires from flying into you.

I’m considering purchasing for cutting stress joints in concrete slab for my small one-car garage. Would you recommend this product or should I opt for a corded grinder with variable speed? I think a concrete saw is more than I need for my small project and I don’t need anything commercial grade. I already have a circular saw with masonry diamond blade. I already own a couple M18 batteries. The slab was poured a long time ago without stress joints or drainage. The main reason I want an angle grinder is to do other projects like sharpening blades, removing rust, polishing/buffing. I would also like a cordless grinder so I can use it on parts of my property with no power supply. Just my preference, but would like some advice before I make a purchase. I wouldn’t explicitly use it for masonry. I need an angle grinder any way as they’re versatile tools to have around.

@projectpinehills 6 месяцев назад
I’d buy a variable speed grinder no matter what you do with the concrete. Seems like a concrete saw would be better for that job… any chance of renting or borrowing one?
@Bryan_Lion
@Bryan_Lion 6 месяцев назад
@@projectpinehills yes I could rent one easily from one of the hardware stores in town. Wouldn’t need one for than a half a day. I was just looking for an excuse to get the angle grinder, which I think I’ll do any way.

What's strange is I bought this model you're reviewing today. They must have upgraded this model because it does have rapid stop now.. Even said it on the box. I figured the box was a standard box for all grinders..
@projectpinehills
@projectpinehills Год назад
That’s interesting. I traded it in for one that has a variable speed for use with a wire wheel. Keeps the wire from becoming projectiles. Thanks!

Just picked up one today and yup , rapid stop is included. It is a change since this review of the 2880-20 because it now has "Rapid Stop" written on the back of the grinder.

My M18 grinder overheats QUICK and takes at least 30 minutes to work again.. I'm wondering if I got a defective unit because honestly its a joke and I've good luck with all my other Milwaukee tools. I can't even slightly sharpen one mower blade without it overheating. This is with a full 5 amp battery that still mostly charged but the tool shuts off.
@projectpinehills
@projectpinehills Год назад
That doesn’t sound normal to me. Make sure the air screen is free of debris. Thanks for watching. I did return this one in for the variable speed version.

I am a plumber ... Shit grinder I had 4 in 2 years on all of them the triger brock ( don't get me started on the shite m18 batteries over 10 died in 2 years)... Now Milwaukee says that they don't replace it anymore as I haven't registered the last replacement for warranty... I will sell all my 12 power tools Milwaukee and go back to makita (biggest mistake I ever did was moving from makita to Milwaukee DIYer tools )

What about the chuck on fuel drills! Drill a 32 mm hole in a 2" joint and it somehow managed to bend so when drilling now a 2mm hole i's snapping the bit as it wobble like crazy ( they always come undone for no reason, they jammed up, constantly need lubrication
