This video is a presentation focused on the best core engagement for Chronic Lower Back pain. Exercises are not always the best relief solutions for pains and aches. Many of course may disagree with the statement, but that is in fact the harsh reality.
This video aims to educate you on this very topic and we will see what CAN help with Chronic Lower Back Pain relief.

Completed this program last year. I will always do it. Other than improving my back discomfort and posture it improved my breathing and digestion. I've never met Dr. Peebles but he is a friend. His program is a gift.

I can totally agree.. since this guy is indeed teaching the right stuff. I bust don't like his "no exercise" expressions in the beginning of the video.. but in my experiences pt in my country belgium.. have no clue about core engagement .. which i find unimaginable.. but reality. I can indeed only assume we are not the only ones.. while this is the start of all movement.. so yes.. this program .. finally.

I wanted to come back to your comment. I agree but in my experience and specific circumstances I had to learn to shut the workouts off and just focus on breathing and core. Probably, my workouts were worsening things. Really hard to shut that part of myself off though.

Agreed, with one suggestion. I have found relief from pain from gluteal tendonopathy and ilio psoas contusion by doing very slow hack squats with no weight on the machine. When I say very slow, I mean emphasis on the negative part of the movement (going down), taking up to 1 min for one rep. This seems to work better than anything else, no long explanation for why.
@antonvannelli9085
@antonvannelli9085 3 месяца назад
This is pretty common actually Keep in mind that going THAT slow (almost isometric) does the following. Improved recruitment of extremely weak systems (the brain being able to re-activate them) which started re-firing and activating these muscles that helped you rebalance your likely significant imbalances. As those imbalances improved, they changed tension relationships in systems of the hips/low back etc. Hope this helps! Nice work!

I think this video isn't intended to give you the details of how to DO the core engagement exercises that his Core Balance training program provides. The core balance training program is a very very slowly presented day by day (daily email with 5 minute video) carefully designed to build one single thing on the next over the course of 3 months...this video is more of a sales pitch for that program. There is no substitute for the full program.. I did it a year ago, and wrote notes along the way and found it to be the best $200 I ever spent on my body. At age 60 I finally feel like I have a way to engage my core every day when I wake up and throughout the day to keep the strain of being a professional gardener from wrecking my low back, which was happening prior to this program. Sorry, you didn't ask for a sales pitch from anyone.. but there it is. I tell everyone I know with back issues about this program 😛

How interesting that 5 minutes is too much time to learn about the problem. How is it possible to understand the solution if we don't understand the problem? I encourage you to try and see the necessity in this approach. It's what will allow you to appreciate the second half of the video (the next 5 minutes is the solution), which it sounds like you missed. Note that this is not a demonstration video, but conceptual, and was created for healthcare professionals. I sincerely hope that helps.

To me core engagement is exercise. I do zero movement without it and i exercise .. endurance strength.. zero pt in my country knows how to engage core and cannot even do the mgcill 3 properly... so yes ! I totally agree on that !!! I don't like you using the " no exercise " words for the exercise of core engagement.. I don't understand why you use it like this? To me it is a fundamental exercise .. engraving this movement pattern in your system. Like all great atletes. Especially when have pain issues and different movement patterns according.. imbalances front/back/lateral/up/down.. exercises to learn and maintain this core engagement in all your movements need to be trained .. = called exercising to me? Functional.

100% correct. Great presentation. One thing to mention from my personal experience. Correct activation starts at a nervous system/brain level. The weaker the muscle, the less it can flex, the less the brain relies on it, the weaker the signaling will likely be (reflected in contraction strength). I should mention that direct trauma (say a football player gets hit in the back) has a tremendous impact on muscle activation at a nervous system/activation level. If you can not even flex/contract systems in isolation, your brain likely does not know how to fire that system without compensatory activation. I focus on the nervous system signaling work to help train the nervous system to re-fire inactive systems. Most clients that come to me (for low back issues) can not do any type of exercises for the core by the time they find me, due to the massive levels of compensation occurring as the brain tries to stabilize the spine through inefficient systems. Additionally, when I work with clients with nervous system issues (fight/flight) the inability to fire/activate/connect to these systems is striking. This is consistent. When these systems can be reconnected/reprogrammed, it is amazing how you can actually modulate the nervous system to a more regulated state...or at least help it in that direction. Funny how we use many similar systems and we have never met and I have never used your program. I use the floor and I use specific breathing work as well as well (tremendous for eliminating extension), I just also use specific signaling work for inactive areas to put them back on the neurological map. I know that you had severe back problems for many years. I did as well. Severe car accident in my early 20s, and I was told I would be in a wheelchair by 25 by drs. I know back pain/sciatica very well, as I lived with it for over 10+ years. I could only sit for 10 mins at a time for years. Today i am 100% pain free. By the time I accidentally realized what had happened to my body (and I tried everything to solve it!) , I realized had zero ability to flex/fire/activate my entire left oblique and lower abdominal wall (as well as my left quad/glute/arch etc etc). It took me years of personal experimentation to figure out how to solve it. Once again, excellent presentation and I agree with many of the points. You run a great program! Wanted to offer my 2 cents.

Hello, I have a question regarding core engagement. I just recently had a microdiscectomy (5 days ago). And I had previously learnt how to engage my transverse abdominals correctly. My core is at its strongest it’s ever been and have learnt how to engage pretty much all the muscles around my torso (obliques, rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques). I wanted to know how much I should be engaging my core at this time and if there is any danger in engagement at all? I was worried I would put too much compression on my lower back by too much engagement. Could you advise please?
