beautiful corn since you have a generator you could get a electric grinder you can also buy bulk flour for storage if you are worried you won’t have enough

After all the challenges from weather, deer, raccoons, and bugs, you finally did it in getting the most beautiful corn ever! Hope you get some rain soon and break in temps so you can catch up on maintaining and harvesting the rest of the garden. Not sure if the investment in a manual grain mill would be worth it unless you plan to grow and mill lots of grains. I have an NutriMill and love it for the few grains I have stored but it is electric. Hope you have a wonderful week my friend and stay cool..

@@Latebloomershow I absolutely love your replies.💜 My sweet homesteader, it's hot all over the country, as new temp records are set regularly. My move was family-oriented. Both my adult children are close by. Heaven for an old dad. You got my attention the first time I saw your video. Still have an eye on you & for you!😉 Stay fresh & cool as you can. A te logo. Beijos.

snap peas! Will do soon. My winter squash is going to be a skimpy year. Not sure what i'll do. The giant squash was puny. Hopefully today's shower will give it a boost. I've got flowers on the butternut but it doesn't get too much sun. Anyway, they need 100 days and don't know I've got that.

Your corn looks fabulous! It makes me want to order that variety and give it a go before fall. I could squeeze in a planting. Kaye,I have a Wonder Mill, and it is fantastic. The hand crank will limit the degree of fineness of your flour and will be a lot of work. I ground black beans, chickpeas, wheat berries, and wheat (white and red) into flour, but your options are endless. You have a generator, don't you? If you had to, you could grind in a power outage with your generator, but it is not something you do every day. I put my ground flour in a freezer bag to last a month or so for use and then grind more.

Corn and the garden look beautiful. Are the sunflowers to draw bees, or for seeds, or to eat? I read online that sunflower is called choke and it does resemble an artichoke. Said the whole plant down to root is edible.

Kaye good morning from Spring, Tx. Beautiful corn harvest! Big congratulations 🎉 for all your sweat efforts! I don’t think you should plant anymore corn or beans; aren’t you already overwhelmed trying to maintain what you have? 😮 About the mill are they available as both manual and electric so you could switch depending on the current situation ? Or perhaps there is a mill near you for public use? As you drive have you noticed corn fields? Maybe stop and chat with the family. We just recovered from hurricane Beryl. No full home power for 7 days: we do have portable generator that runs lights, refrigerators, freezers and window ac we installed in bedroom window. Lost about 4 huge old oaks and pine tree. No damage to home or barn. Large 3 sided garden shed was hit but it’s repairable. Happy trails to you! KD (Kathryn Sword)

❤❤ Is flower corn the same as Indian corn?We always call that indian corn. ❤❤
@Mark19766
@Mark19766 Месяц назад
Most of the time when people say “Indian corn” they’re referring to the flint corn variation. It’s a much harder, corn, shiny, and multicolored yes, but the inside of “Flour corn” is fluffy, starchy and white excellent for baking. This is a very short season corn with thin ears fast to produce and fast to dry and harvest perfect for survival on the Homestead growing under harsh conditions. Wonderful flavor.
@Latebloomershow
@Latebloomershow Месяц назад
Yes. Just a dried corn to be used for flour.
