also there is the safepal pro which is double the cost of the regular safepal but still cheapo. the main differences are , bigger better battery and a tough aluminum bodyt , tempered glass screen.
I bought the S1 first then bought the S1pro the that is made of aluminium alloy and tempered glass it feels more premium and sturdier compare to S1 which are mostly plastic
One massive Con that was missing for the Ellipal Titan is that it’s not Open Source. Big red flag and security risk... big enough on this fact alone that I cannot, will not buy it and risk having everything compromised later on. Will never buy a closed source hardware wallet
Yeah, I am super disappointed with Leadger and ordered two Trezor model ones earlier this week. I am definitely interested in seeing you showcase the two wallets you got.
@@njb7319 Trezor is open source. It's only known vulnerability is if someone actually steals the physical device. Is that what you don't like? What about the Ngrave?
well I would like to dispute your assesment of Safepal, its very easy to use, very easy to update and its cheap and lots of coins, and security is 5 out of 5 due to being air gapped. Prone to damage well depends, its flimsy but its still tough . I dont put my wallets thru rough times always stored in well protected clean locations. as for web3 intergration, I would like to dispute that one, Ive used my safepal to access uniswap, 1inch etc. you can access dapps and do swaps with no problems. Yep just the staking which is lacking.
ellipal sucks horrible upgrade not suer friendly at all. Safepal so far is the best wallet. love it easy upgrade very user friendly and cheap too and massive amount of coins.
Warning regarding the Tangom Wallet. I received over the weekend the 3 card Tangom, shipped in from Singapore. The box the products came in had been tampered with. Meaning the seal on the product box had been cut but in a way that would not have been easily noticeable. The product inside also had no plastic wrapping like most new electronic products have. Not sure if the cards had been tampered with or not but not taking that chance. The return policy is to ship to China. Not sure but guessing that will cost more then I paid for the product.
I just reaearched Ellipal and SafePal because they boast about being air gapped, but I read a lot of horror stories of tokens literally disappearing overnight. I used several review sites. So, I come back to D'cent again, which I had planned to buy last week to branch out from Ledger. I got distracted by all the competition coming out in full force, but now I've gone full circle - back to D'cent! 😅
@@Mary-J you won't regret it, I liked so much that I purchased more than one, remember never leave all your eggs in a single basket, also you can get an inexpensive key fob Faraday bag and put the wallet inside it.
After researching for a few days a ton, I’ve came to the conclusion that investing in crypto and storing it for long term is very risky. I am at the mercy of all these businesses and wallet developers and the government. It’s rare that businesses ever care about doing what’s right. I’d be willing to bet all the world elites and government have set up wallets and or bribed companies and people off so they can force them to comply. Physical Gold and silver are the only true currencies that are safe. All these shady wallets made in china, or based in EU will either rig the wallet for back doors or spy, or will comply with authorities and regulations. They don’t want to give power to the people if that already isn’t clear enough. Not one cold wallet is purely safe. Diversifying wallets is the best option we got. It’s up to the business owners If they want to engage in tyranny or not, or help the people. And I bet you they all have been bribed. Power always corrupts. Tyrants always find themselves in power. It’s very annoying and unfortunate but that’s what history has showed us. I will not be buying anymore crypto for that reason. It’s good to take chances but I’m already exposed enough. If the us gov or whomever goes gestapo on crypto and forces other nations pacts like the EU to comply it all goes down the drain. Let this be a warning to you all. N-Grave is based in Belgium. It’s a part of NATO and the EU. If politically your on the wrong side of things or if a tyrant passes the right laws your toast. They will work with the companies and fabricate some BS so they have the right to take your stuff. It may not happen but with everything I’ve seen my whole life I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen.
If any of these companies went bust can you still access you crypto ok ? Do they work independently i have seen this question asked a number of times and no-one seems to have an answer WORRYING
That is a concern, if their software is open source, that's a good sign you should be able to still access your crypto. If not, then obviously that is another risk
I thought the con was more so about a not having a seed phrase?...I.E if you lose ANY wallet that has a seed phrase, you can recover when purchasing a new wallet buy using restoring the phrase. I've tested out 2 wallets like that just to see, but that's what I took from the con. I guess the tangem cards are more like "cash" wallets than traditional cold storages with seed phrases
D'CENT!! I've read enough and listened to enough. Maybe I'm being too "judgemental" or "paranoid" but too many red flags come up for the wallets on this list. I mean, didn't even Trezor just have a major security issue just come to light a week or two ago?? Anyway, aside from some minor complaints (which happen regardless) D'cent just feels legit. (I hope I don't have to eat my words later.) I somehow missed Tangem. I trust Tangem more than the other cold wallets. The only thing is better not lose the card, or buy a 2 pack and make one a backup for the other one (then store the backup in a Faraday bag in a safe place).
They sell 3 pack also, separate the cards in diferent places and for extra security put them inside a RFID blocking pouch, but make sure they work because I purchased several at Ebay and only one worked property, get a key fob faraday pouch, D'CENT wallet fits perfectly inside and also Tangem cards
@@MarioR23 yeah, I've heard about many of the key fob Faraday pouches not working.. I bought a few well-reviewed "clutch bag" size bags. They definitely are on the bulky for someone who carries a minimal amount around.
ya i think trezor is with coinjoin and they wont let gun , bullets, porn be baught besides other items ive read.. crypto zombie is swearing by the NGRAVE . who knows but ledger we know will b giving our shit away.
How about the onekey? It is open source hardware and software. Also the biggest advantage of ledger is the staking inside the wallet directly. Non of the other alternatives have this function. Any solution for the staking issue?
nice! Tangem is technically not actually a cold wallet as it has NFC connection... also seed is generated on the device and the hardware is not open source so will need to trust the chip manufacturer and no way of knowing my seed... also the blind signing (having no screen to verify the transaction on) is a big attack vector. i think these are cool as hot wallets which are more secure than the average but defiantly not a cold wallet for holding anything you wouldnt like to lose (: fuck ledger man.

Bitboy recommended BC Vault. Any thoughts on that? It doesn't seem to be web3 compatible, I don't think the backup uses a seed phrase (not sure though - I've seen memory card backups) but looks okay for hodl bags.
@@SwanCastleCrypto Yeah, he did a video about their recommendations. Oddly they didn't mention Trezor which surprised me. They did mention "safe" as a multisig solution and a few hot wallets that I'm looking into.. I just hate having to move security options because I have everything set up the way I like it. (oh well, welcome to crypto right?). RN, I'm going to test Trezor and BC Vault.

Have you tried a BitFi ? I paid for one at the website but they disappeared. No answer about where it is. No emails. No answer to phone call. Will have to contact credit card company and get my money back.
I just got one, and I hate it. The app is super limited. The instructions were written for a different version of the app, so they are all wrong. The customer service was responsive but unhelpful, only really sending me back to the outdated instructions, and the company is Chinese, which is not the most privacy and crypto friendly home country for a hardware wallet. I did just get a blockstream jade, and I really like that so far.
Tangem is a solid wallet, but I do prefer holding most my crypto in a wallet with seed backup. I have been happy with Trezor so far, but every wallet has its pros and cons depending on what you’re using it to hold, defi support, security, etc. so it’s hard to recommend one as best
I have 4 ledgers since 2016 and was just about to buy the new stax and not even get it for a year or so just bc i believed in them so much. un frikn believable ledger! I am emptying on JADE for bitcoin and NGRAVE for the rest. PEACE
I've owned ledger, ellipal ( which was impossible to keep charged than ten minutes and I was worried that it wound die and not be usable. Arculus is the best. The fact that you didn't even mention it is odd. You mentioned some other company that copied the card idea with less security
"odd"? Dude there are lots of hardware wallets out there. Can't expect a RU-vidr to know them all. And as mentioned. Arculus is not even open source. Definitely not best.
Not feeling so confident in Ellipal I ordered my wallet in May and still has not arrived, I was told it was shipped Express 7-15 business days from when I ordered it. Already close to 30 days WTF Ellipal.
ohh wow, I know a of the different wallet manufacturers are having trouble right now with fulfilling orders due to the high demand from everyone switching from Ledger. Hopefully they get it to you soon. Or at least give you an update
@@SwanCastleCrypto Ya I sent them a few messages and no reply. The tracking number they gave me goes to an Italian shipping company and states Tracking not yet available. Ordered a cold wallet form a different company.
@@SwanCastleCrypto I don’t mind the name… its a South Korean Company, I bought mine here in the USA directly from them no issues. they also have a decent exchange swap service and lots of cryptos asian ones too of course. I ordered an extra one, but want a different brand was going to get a lesger but not anymore
Safepal is not from Binance. Binance endorses safepal and they use them for their swaps, dapps, etc. but safepal is it’s own standalone company. It can function without Binance as well (again being that it is its own company)
Or did they change that? I thought their hardware was open source but firmware (and each future firmware update) was closed source and we essentially have to trust that they don’t load a secret backdoor into the Ellipal via secretly infected firmware update
Can malware compromise the device or your assets within…. via the microSD card when we plug the microSD card into a computer in order to upload the new firmware update to it? (Which then gets loaded into the Ellipal titan?) Say my computer is already infected with a malware that automatically spreads to every future device I plug into it. Every phone, usb drive, iPad, everything. Once the malware secretly loads itself to the microSD that gets plugged into the already-infected computer…. Is there anyway a hacker could steal the funds from the device using their malware?
No, that’s not how it works. If your computer is infected with some random malware it’s not gonna spread to your cold wallet via the micro SD card. You’d have to specifically download “altered” firmware for your device for it to be compromised. That’s why you always want to verify the authenticity of any new firmware before you load it into your cold wallet.
@@cadillacjack5318 no it’s not. Best wallets are Coldcard, Foundation Passport, Blockstream Jade, Seed Signer. Now drop your shitcoins and stick to bitcoin only products that are focused solely on self sovereignty and security instead of “mUh fEATuReS”
I own a Ledger Nano X and replaced it with Ngrave. I don't want the possibility of an update that I opt out of still being placed on my device to shard the seed 3 ways. That's against everything Crypto stands for so I just keep some junk Crypto on that device. All my other Crypto is on an Ngrave. My most important feature by far is security. I can use the ledger and Trezor for staking certain coins as I own all 3 now.
