thanks! I know most people don't play every format, but I try to get content out for each to help out, whether Bo1 or Bo3. End of the day I just like talking magic
I’ve actually been loving historic right now personally. I do really like the Boros energy deck but it is more of the metagame so some people are turned off. It’s just a varied power level, maybe a turn slower at times but allows other types of strategies to be present. Example is seasoned pyromancer can’t be played in a bowmaster meta. There are also fewer just 4-5 color goodstuff piles as mana bases have more constraints. I personally bounce between formats as the decks I like playing are reasonable. I hate playing against the current Dimir control piles and wasn’t having fun in timeless but that is just current meta.
Hey Joe, I've been playing with rakdos scam and I find it a little inconsistent, this is why it is not on the top performing decks? or is it because the small sample size?
Hey so I’m Bo3 rakdos scam for the week was at 44% w/r for 25 games. Small sample but sub 50%. Usually I’ll stop around 55-60% for decks once I reach about 8-10 Deck 2 Swamp 4 Lightning Bolt 4 Deathrite Shaman 4 Reanimate 3 Blood Crypt 4 Thoughtseize 4 Polluted Delta 4 Bloodstained Mire 1 Overgrown Tomb 3 Blackcleave Cliffs 4 Grief 4 Fury 4 Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer 4 Fable of the Mirror-Breaker 4 Orcish Bowmasters 4 Troll of Khazad-dum 1 Not Dead After All 1 Molten Collapse 1 Raucous Theater Sideboard 4 Blood Moon 4 Fatal Push 2 Pithing Needle 2 Kolaghan's Command 2 Unlicensed Hearse 1 Molten Collapse
@@MTGJoe I run this list: Deck 2 Swamp (UNF) 242 4 Lightning Bolt (STA) 42 4 Deathrite Shaman (RTR) 213 4 Reanimate (OTP) 18 3 Blood Crypt (RNA) 245 4 Thoughtseize (AKR) 127 4 Polluted Delta (KTK) 239 4 Bloodstained Mire (KTK) 230 1 Overgrown Tomb (GRN) 253 3 Blackcleave Cliffs (ONE) 248 1 Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger (THB) 221 4 Grief (SPG) 46 4 Fury (SPG) 47 4 Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer (MUL) 86 3 Fable of the Mirror-Breaker (NEO) 141 4 Orcish Bowmasters (LTR) 103 4 Troll of Khazad-dûm (LTR) 111 1 Raucous Theater (MKM) 266 1 Not Dead After All (WOE) 101 1 Malakir Rebirth (ZNR) 111 Sideboard 3 Blood Moon (WOT) 40 2 Fatal Push (KLR) 84 1 Pithing Needle (MID) 257 1 Surgical Extraction (OTP) 19 1 Kolaghan's Command (DTK) 224 1 Molten Collapse (LCI) 234 1 Surgical Extraction (OTP) 19 1 Ashiok, Dream Render (WAR) 228 1 Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes (HBG) 243 2 Unlicensed Hearse (SNC) 246 I've trimmed the Fable, because it is expensive to cast two times in a row, but I don't know if it's the right call TBH. Ashiok for show and tell, Minsc for control, and I only have 3 blood moons. For the deck sometimes lacks means to cast full scam consistently, and sometimes scamming Grief is not enough because the consistency of Timeless. Would you mind sharing your thoughts?
@OOOcidO I’m not super versed on some of the ins and outs but I think perhaps meathook massacre for energy matchups could help. What are you having trouble against matchup wise? Or is it just running out of cards?
Hey Joe, do you ever play decks submitted by subscribers? I've been playing a version of rakdos vampires that's been working well for me, and while it's definitely not completely original, I haven't seen other versions with my configuration. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on it. I'm sure it could easily translate to BO3 as well.
Hey feel free to share the list. If I’m streaming metagame challenges or stuff like that I’ll take viewer suggestions. For gameplay right now I usually just play decks with the notion to showcase how they work, particularly if new. I like having reference videos for decks to offer in addition to the metagame breakdowns
Thanks for the time and energy on this review. thought it was great! Would it be possible to add links in the description to the lists that you are reviewing for easy exporting? Thanks!
I know this question is kinda weird, but if one got wilds to craft only one deck now and play it for longer time, what you would craft to suit best this whole meta? I'm inclined to dimir control or jeskai, kinda don't want to craft boros energy, wanted to craft beans but see them drop now or am I wrong? Which deck have best chance to play all the meta and have chances till the very end of match? just don't want to spare all wilds (and if i'm wrong to wait till get new wilds)? what deck to choose?
With these type of questions I always preface that you need to consider the playstyle you will enjoy. The Dimir control deck is strong but every match will be long. Beans is a bit lower recently in win rates and very expensive but could just be the deck needs to adapt. From inception of timeless, a Bx midrange deck has always been reasonable. Playing deathrite + bowmaster amongst other cards is a strong strategy. For example, I haven’t crafted S&T stuff as I know despite the deck being powerful I’d be bored after 5 matches with it. Finding a deck you like and are familiar with will often reward you. I don’t grind top mythic rank anymore due to work commitments but when I did I would always finish top 1200 with tier 2 decks I was versed with as I hated playing mirrors. Hope that helps!
It was showing up in Bo1 in past weeks but haven’t seen it in Bo3 datasets. Here is the bo1 list (67% w/r). Someone else posted a comment they were doing well with a Phoenix list no Atraxa you may also want to check out Deck 2 Fatal Push 1 Swamp 1 Mountain 3 Lightning Bolt 4 Dark Ritual 4 Reanimate 4 Buried Alive 1 Demonic Tutor 3 Blood Crypt 4 Polluted Delta 2 Surgical Extraction 4 Bloodstained Mire 3 Blackcleave Cliffs 4 Bloodghast 4 Faithless Looting 4 Arclight Phoenix 4 Grief 4 Strike It Rich 1 Takenuma, Abandoned Mire 1 Atraxa, Grand Unifier 1 Troll of Khazad-dum 1 Raucous Theater
@@MTGJoe oh true my bad, i already seen that then, thank you tho. Im trying to find a timeless list for eldrazi but I should give up, without tron lands its kind of slow
@IN7ANE it’s pretty slow for historic let alone timeless. Closest I saw was Ali Eldrazi playing a S&T shell with woodlands and a bunch of eldrazi support.
I'm probably going to hold off until bloomburrow and rotation to pick up standard and explorer again. I;ve looked every week last few weeks for standard and it is the same lists card for card from the past weeks (Mono red, boros convoke, azorius control, black based midrange). There hasn't been much if any new/updated decks. Once rotation comes will go heavy again into standard.
