I already have one that I made a year or two ago, now..... that I use primarily for when I'm shooting indoors in the basement of my house during bad weather or after dark. I made mine a little differently than yours, where I used 2"X12" fur and drilled four 9/16ths holes, one in each corner (1.5" IN from each edge) then hammered in 4 - 1.75" long X 1/2" ID dia. pipe and used 1/2" OD. "All Thread" rod for each of those holes.... my rods were 4 ft long each. I use them primarily for my Air rifles and pistols, but also for Crossbow Pistols and blowguns. The pipe is just an extra touch I did, to primarily keep the holes in the wood from "wallowing out" from the All - Thread, over time and getting wobbly. With the Airguns, I use my carpet "target" as a "backup" silent pellet trap behind my steel reaction targets, etc. By the way, I noticed that what you called "plywood".... is Not Plywood, it is "Chipboard"... two totally different materials..... Chipboard is fine, as long as you don't get it wet.... usually. Real Plywood would be stronger.... than the chipboard, but that's why I used the 2X12's instead to sandwich the carpet with. Still shooting at it! I’ve flip flopped carpet from the middle to the outside one time just to get newer carpet into the most shot part of the target. Best money I ever spent as an archer! 10’s of thousands of shots!
Tom Kavanaugh I don't know exactly it was old carpet from 3 rooms in my house. However much you think you need, get more than that. Once you start compressing it down it gets small quickly.
