I bought the Philips 9000 Prestige shortly after launch. I ordered directly from Philips, it went missing in transit. They refunded immediately but also sent another. When I told them, they said I could keep it without paying - because I was so honest! Brilliant customer service and brilliant razor, too! Still shaves like new.

It always pays to be honest that was nice of them. A few years ago I went in our local Barclays paid in £100. Was checking my receipt on the way out, she put it down I paid in £500. The woman in front of me paid in £500 so it must have been in her head. I went back and told her I said I was poor but honest.

@@lollollol6873 I get your point. But the poor tellers are just working stiffs and wind up in trouble. A teller made an error in my favor. I came back and returned the money. She was thrilled thankful. We went out on a date and she treated me to dinner because of my honesty. She and I dated for a while and remain friends. She's a spectacular young woman. Sometimes it pays to be honest.

When I claim warranty from philips Canada, they give me my replacement unit first and inside the box include a return label. PANASONIC ON THE OTHER HAND, has TERRIBLE SERVICE and they make you pay for shipping.

Well, I am a 76 year old man that's owned a few re-chargeable shavers and the last two I owned were Philips made in Holland. The earlier shaver is nearly 20 years ols, and the latest one is now 8 years old. Both work and give me a close shave and neither has broken down .

I also have 2 Philips shavers of similar ages. Amazingly the older one still holds practically a full charge. The newer one now has 9000 Prestige blades which cut very well.

I've had a rechargeable Phillips Norelco shaver for 15 yrs and it still works great! I can grow a full beard so it's a workout for the shaver and like I said it still works great!!

I bought a 9000 series 4 years ago and well here i am looking for a new one. After 2 years the cleaning station broke down and stopped cleaning. Now the shaver itself the battery gets drained within minutes and the trimmer doesn’t work anymore. (All well maintained and cleaned) 1st and last phillips im buying.

I currently use the Arc 5 and like it a lot. I’v had a Philips with the sideburn trimmer - it would pop off way too often. Also had the prior Braun 9. It was decent, but the sound it makes is annoying. Wonder if the current is quieter.

I've had a Braun 5 for 22yrs, of course they claimed it would give you a "Baby bottom" smooth shave but it never did...changed the blades twice but ready for a new razor just ordered the Braun 9 It will probably outlive me...

A quick look on google would have got you that answer of if you buy a shaved it will tell you in the instructions it’s 12 to 18 months .but it just depends really on how thick your stubble is and how often you use it .i found the Bruan series 9 pro blade to go blunt fast 7 months into it struggled on day 3 growth beards need a new blade already

Got the braun series 9 , it was never the phillips, the series 7 was also lovely has a lot of attachments especially if you have a beard and for beard maintenance. But knowing my husband he would want all right there , and ready to go , I also like the charging case accessory especially for travel ( you didn't show this but it's in one of the packages they offer) . It will go for easily 2-3 weeks if you are on a trip . You could just take the charging cord but the case is a lovely addition and it has some heft and also protect the shaver. Thanks for the review appreciate the highlights.

I bought the Braun Series 9 model you tested. After years of blade shaving, I knew it would take a bit to adjust. I think overall the shaver looks nice and is solid, especially the travel case with built in charger, very slick. What it lacked for me is any instructions, at all, hence why I'm here. I have a light beard, so I am every other day at most. While pleasant to use, the Braun leaves a patch along and under the jawline that it just can't seem to get at. After a month of use, I just saw another video showing me that a tab needs to be lifted for the cleaning solution. Ha Ha.

still can use? mine auto lock problem the most issues braun series 9 , good shaving but expensive price with worst quality ever, before i use panasonic arc 3 is most powerefull but head replacement is not worth for half price a device, philips? is good just too good but not to close, maybe is not flagship series

I got the Braun 9 series yesterday after owning the 7 and whatever the one was before. But this beats those by a long way on a smooth fast shave. Just have to clean it a bit differently, the others I could remove the head and tap it on the flat part of the sink to knock the dust? out, but the 9 head is a bit harder to hold, so it may be an under-the-tap job in the future.

Presently using the Braun 9 series. These are great if you shave every 2 days but, leave the whiskers for a week and the blades drag and give a poor cut, needing to go over the face several times. A traditional wet shave is best by a competent barber but that is only for the New Year.

Bought a Panasonic ES8093 about 20 years ago. Still going , doing a fine job. Looked on here with the idea of buying a new modern elec razor. Not much has changed, in fact your number one choice is similar to the features on mine. The battery on mine is probably knackerd if I new about the others, lasts about 2 weeks ?

I used the Braun 9 on my head. On the beard it absolutely sucked cutting the neck and chin area. If you get this for head only then do it. I'm currently looking for one that is good on neck and head together.

I have found the foil shavers wear out way to fast then need to get new foils after getting a good cut on your face. I have an old flex head norelco that's close to 30 years old flex over the contours really well. The blades last about a year then can be touched up and used for another few months before the foils wear through.

I buy cheap $30 rechargeable 3 head shavers of Amazon, they work perfectly well for that daily shave, the problem with these branded shavers is that replacement parts e.g. new shaving heads or the like cost a fortune often more than my Amazon shaver

I would have continued with the 7 forever - until the slider switch wouldn't turn off. Off. There's information everywhere except on how to fix the blue button on the switch and its retaining spring. Perfect in every way, unless you want to turn it off.

Ive had 2 series 9s. The second one was a 9467cc. After using it for 10mins the thing cut off and wouldnt start again till i left it for a while. Got a replacement and same again. It was like the battery was getting too hot or sometging. Bought a panasonic arc 6 and it arrives tomorrow. Im gutted tgat the braun started letting me down because its an amazing razer when it works.

I have Braun 7 series and Braun 9 series. I use and like both but in terms of cleaning cartridge life, 7 series lasts much longer. On the other hand, 9 series gives you much closer shave.

I just got a Braun 9 pro with a clean station and a charging case. For 25 years of shaving with Gillette of any kinds I had never thought there is something better. Trying Braun 9 pro I was astonished with a speedy and glide shaving that I had never had in my life. Quick, soft and perfect shaving with enjoy! Quite expensive but it is worth that money!!! Better buy once than paying more for nothing.

I am still shaving with a Philishave 1000 series that I bought 2 years ago. I just replaced the blades a couple of months ago and I don't think it shaves as well as it originally did. I think this is because it is a low end razor and I probably will replace it with another higher end Philips, at least a 3000 or higher. I still like using it.

I just moved up from the Braun 5 to the 9 after my son needed a shaver. I loved the 5 and the 9 is even better, it's efficient and close on a dense beard. I get some men enjoy shaving with hot water and foams and lathers, but I love knocking out a shave in 5 minutes anywhere I am, with or without water.

I have tried all of these and for me the Panasonic is by far the best, use it wet and it rivals a blade for closeness but way easier to use. I have bought two one is still going after 12 years and the other 6 years and still like new.

I used to have a Panasonic, but found it wasn’t very good longer hairs. I have a Braun 7 now, which I love, I think Braun has the best balance long and short cutting.

@@bryankones8097 Hi, Bryan. A blade razor will always give a smoother shave, an electric can only cut to the thickness of the screen. Tjat said, blades scrape and can do more damage to the skin. The first few times using an electric will feel weird due to the vibrations, like first using an ultrasonic toothbrush. Go slow with it at first so as not to pull longer hairs. I avoid alcohol-based colognes so as not to dry the skin. A moisturizer is better, one with a sunscreen if possible - sun and wind dry the skin.

I’ve used Braun Series 9 and i didn’t like the handling, so i switched to Philips S9000 Prestige. It feels much better, is more quiet, lighter and easier to clean. Also i love the wireless charging with the IQ-Pad.

Braun is good but overrated. I had a 7-yo Panasonic. Decided I got good life out of it. All the reviews pointed to Braun 7 and 9. Gee, you wonder which company might send more free test units to reviewers? Maybe Braun? The 7-yo Panasonic kicked the Braun 7's ass. Got acne/ingrown hairs with the Braun and have to shave more often as it painfully pulls hairs. The Panasonic I can go an extra day before it starts pulling hairs and no acne/ingrown hair problem. Lighter and quieter too. Braun has done a good job marketing their brand and convinced a lot of people it HAS to be the best. I would guess the 9 is on par with the Panasonic but not a good value for the price.

Question. I have the Phillips 9000 prestige. Only downside is I travel a lot for work and find having to carry the charger a pain. I noticed one of your shots has a cable plugged into the bottom. I didn’t get a cable with mine but it has a small slot in the bottom. Am I missing something? Thanks

I had the Braun 7, but now have the Panasonic Arc 5. The improvement in closeness was striking in seconds, bordering on hard to believe. It's unwieldy, but you soon learn, and it's easy to hand clean. I use Braun shaver spray to lubricate. My facial hair is strong and awkward, and I use multiple passes, but you don't need to dig it into your face, and I have never had a problem with skin irritation etc.

I bought a Norelco shaver more than twenty years ago. It still shaves well, and I have never had to replace its rotary shavers or shaving head. As for charging, all I need do is still the plug into the wall. I runs on 120VAC. I don't travel much and don't need a battery powered headache!

the problem I have with Phillips is that their replacement heads are really expensive compared to Braun Usually they are twice as expensive. Additionally, after I shave with my Braun series 7, i always rinse and then rotate my blades to prevent uneven wear and further extend their life. I plan to buy a new Braun series 9 pro

I have had the Braun 9 and found that it didn't do a good job on problem areas on my face and the cost of the cleaning supplies was ridiculous. More recently, I had the Norelco and found it did a mediocre job overall and it struggled with my problem areas. For Christmas I received the Panasonic Arc 5 and what a difference - like the proverbial hot knife through butter! For me, it is quick, efficent, and a close shave approaching a blade shave, without irritation. It also does a decent job on my problem areas. I strongly recommend it!

I have the Braun 9 9325s. S means without cleaning station. In my opinion the cleaning station is too bulky and expensive in use. Anyways, this machine is extremely good. Very gentle, yet effective. Highly recommended!

You have no idea how amazing the cleaning station is untill you try it. I am using mine for years. You cant clean your shaver good enough without the station. I have sensitive skin and the station kills everything on the razor. If i dont use the station (and i tired) my skin Will get Red,itchy, irritated. With the station its like shaving with a New shaver every time. Get one you wont be disappointed.

I use a Norelco S3500 Wet/Dry... Its "5D" hinged head does everything the 9000 Prestige and its completely detachable pivoting head does (with a pop-out trimmer on the 3500) for a whole lot less money!

if thats a question the answer is No, not even close, the 9000 has way more blades, different style heads, and requires much more power to move them, so you get as close a shave and quickly as possible, not possible with the much simpler blades system and slow power of the s3500.

I don't care how many blades it has, what it's composed of, what it's capable of, if it has a button & corresponding LED for every single function, or how it soaks and self cleans in a special container of turbulent fluid, all while charging! I went that route with digging into my pockets for a Braun 20 years ago, and they're only still as good as the rechargeable battery life, which was only about seven years! I got twice as much life out of an old rechargeable Norelco Tripleheader I received as a gift back when I started shaving as a teen in the mid to late 70s! I've got better things to waste my money on, than a stupid prestigious shaver!

@@Crazcompart to each their own, its a free world my friend, spend your money on something you will enjoy for sure, I don't see the point of your comments though, if shaving makes you suffer, then get the best one you can afford, it you don't shave then, get a boat. or sports tickets etc.. I do shave i enjoy shaving wet, and don't enjoy cuts, or skin irritation, so i have many shavers all cost more than 100 dollars, no big deal since i enjoy shaving, and enjoy not suffering when i do it. I'm not a huge fan of Braun's I had a series 5 which while it did a decent job it seemed to take forever,replaced it with a Philip's 5000 and it gives as good a shave as a blade with minimum effort,it's the best electric razor I've ever used and I've had a few.

Panasonic make good stuff! I am in the Market to buy a shaver......Years ago I had a Braun and it used to sometimes seem to want to pluck a hair on my face rather than cut it. This was in the 1970's, do I went back to the old fashioned wet shave! Now I'm 67, every body I know who owns an electric shave loves Philipps .... But I bight go Braun. I'll watch this again. I have used electric razors for decades made by many manufacturers including a very expensive Braun. The best razor I've ever had is one I'm now using, an $8.00 rechargeable I bought at the .99 cents store in 2016. Over time I have replaced 2 batteries (with a little soldering) that came from Ace Hardware. Smoothest shave I've ever had and the three round heads have never been replaced. 5 years ago I bought a back-up razor in case the first one broke. It is still in the unopened box.

I bought the Braun series 7000 with the cleaning station but I did throw that away after a few months. I just rinse my shaving head which is way faster, cheaper (no expensive refills) and less noisier. If I want a realy deepclean of my shavinghead I throw it in the dishwasher. It comes out like new... 👍

Could have just bought 5 liters of isopropyl or enthol for 30 and used it as a cleaning solution and added oil in it to lube the shaver and it would have lasted you a long time by cleaning it once a week .i find cleaning station with my Bruan series 9 pro works wonders I was using tap water for some time and whal beard oil I found the shaver not to be cutting great untill I went back to the cleaning station plus my shaver stunk by kept using tap water and soap .put the cap on cleaning solution when not in use it will last longer cos bruans cleaning solution or isopropyl or enthol evaporates if the cap is not back on and you get longer outta it when cap is on or you could just buy a 20 to 30 ultrasonic cleaner and stick the blades I think that would work wonders actually but you will have to oil it afterwords

The quick answer is no, due to the amount of blades and the power that you need to move them properly. its a bad idea, you will end up cutting your skin. or getting skin irritation.

Most importantly how long will the cutting blades and screens last? Whenever I used a Braun this period was very short. However my Panasonic has never needed a new screen or blade in over 10 years! Yes the cutter is most likely dull by now but I use a blade also. Why does Braun wear out so fast??? What will these parts cost to replace?......I can imagine they are quite expensive!

My experience exactly the foils don't last 5 months for me then need ti replace. Expensive. Get a year out of my norelco rotary heads pop out touch them up and go some more.

Had a Braun series 9 and needed a new circuit board after two years. Two years later same thing. Razor locks itself / stops working randomly and starts working randomly (like when no one is in the room).

I'm 45. My dad got me an electric shaver as a teen and stopped using it after college. Now I have a 13 yo son and would like to get him one for when he needs to start shaving since I don't want to give him a blade yet. Since it's been a while, which would be the best for him? Use an inexpensive, wet/dry in the shower to knock down the stubble, then an inexpensive disposable, 3 blade razor to clean up. Very easy on the skin.

@@MightyRude I used to be an electric razor guy myself, I had a Braun Cooltec, 9 Series and a Philips 9000 Series, the truth is I thought they would be quicker and closer, but they actually took longer and didn't give me a smooth shave and left me with irritation due to going over the same area again and again (especially around the neck area), I found when I used them wet with shaving gel the results were only marginally better, but the shave took even longer! Then I tried a safety razor with proper shaving soap, the difference was night and day, a quicker, closer, baby smooth shave - with NO irritation! Not to mention, a hell of a lot cheaper! Give one a try, it's a miles better shave, you can pick a safety razor, a pack of blades and a soap stick up fairly cheap online, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks for this review, I wished I had stumbled on this earlier, as a female we are sold tons of 'beauty' items for this purpose that invariably do not do the job adequately, what a ripoff, so I thought I would go hard core and get me a men's shaver, they seem to do the best job from the few I have borrowed from family. Used all types of Electric shavers. All costing $150 plus. Without doubt Panasonic Arc's are the best. Braun second. Most you can forget. The Arcs are hard to find compared to most of the other brands.

Do any of these electric razors have a travel lockout for the push button on/off switch? I have a Remington with a push button on/off that I've taken on numerous trips only to have "buzzing" luggage at some point on the trip because the damned button gets pressed in the luggage. Would adding some sort of on/off travel lockout be too much to ask? Every one of these reviewed razors have a push button on/off.

The Panasonic range including the shown LV65 does have a lock setting,on the dial. Works well. Never had the “buzzing luggage” problem since! 😂

I never had a problem as Philips always had a lock function. But i did have a haircutter which got switched on somehow. I was pulled aside in Mexico city as my case was buzzing quite loudly.
