I'm in Middle East, for the last 15 years I use Lexus oil 5w40 (Which is basically an Idimitsu made oil) I have never ever had any sort of issues in all of my cars even at +50 Deg C atmospheric temp.... I use it in my Toyota land cruiser, Subaru BRZ, STi, and also AE86.
This is the best oils based on my experience Eneos, motul, liquimoly, amsoil and mobil 1. Top 5. But for my top 3 eneos, liquimoly and motul. I tried those 3 and their performance is superb and quality. So i would recommend those top 3 Eneos, liquimoly and motul.
A lot of folks refuse to believe that an oil as thin as 0W-20 or 0W-16 can protect their engines as well as something with higher viscosity. I'd like to see a comparison test of the same brand oil but different viscosities compared. Like 0W-16, 0W-20 & 5W-30 all of the same brand and type to try to determine whether viscosity has an effect on wear.
Hi Nate. Love your tests. But it doesn't make sense that the Eneos has a fraction lower kw usage on the meter but the wear is so much more. Keep up the good work.
dustyt9 that’s there argument for higher prices but lots of people run non motor cycle oil in there motor cycles. And many say motorcycle oil is a waste of money. I’d like to see them tested against each other so we know once & for all.
I would like to see motorcycle oils in 20w50. Amsoil done some testing and showed Harley Davidson brand oil to be some of the worst. I would like to see you do it to compare to their results.
Every oil guy has his favorite oil brand and a colorful testimonial to back it up. They will always say "Used this brand and never any problems" as evidence.
Hello mate. I am watching your channel and i am impressed of the good job you do here. Great work. Help me on this please. I just bought a brand new hyundai i30 fastback 1.4 turbo GDI 140 ps. 90% i am driving in the city, fast driver, not racing but fast. I have a plan to change the oil and the oil filter every 5.000 km as i always do in any car all these years. The manual says, 5w30 acea c2 c3 and the dealer service recommends ENEOS brand. On the engine, it has from the first day a sticker that it says "Hyundai recommends Shell engine oil". So, according to your experience, what you recommend as the best 5w30 acea c2 c3 engine oil? Thank you for your time and your help, best regards.
Thanks for your support and the brand of oil like shell or mobil1 is just something Hyundai tells you because that company paid them. Just make sure it is the correct viscosity 5w30 or whatever manufacturer suggest. And if it says the oil rating needs to be api sn or other.
How about trying klontz versus Harley syn3 both synthetic V-Twin oil for Harleys would love to see it there's a lot of debate out there and I'd like to see damsel tested against clots and s and Harley syn3 Oil by the way job well done
Awesome bracket testing. Are you using all the same type /viscosity motor oils all the way through the bracket like all are gasoline engine rated synthetic 5w-30? Would be interesting to see how 15w-40 diesel rated oils compared in same testing. If you haven't already done it... keep up the good work. Subscribed
These 20-50 motorcycle oil also need to be able to handle the heat since they're air cooled engines sowa non-synthetic oil probably wouldn't be able to handle the heat like a synthetic oil
Motorcraft oil is made by many different oil companies. I'm not sure if they still supply oil to Ford but it still is or was ConocoPhillips and in Europe is Castrol. Some say they have switched to Mobil. Motorcraft is still a good oil and will maintain your warranty, but any oil can maintain the warranty as long as it reaches their specifications. I looked for Motorcraft Synthetic Blend Specs and these are what they put Celsius (Fahrenheit) API Service GF-5/SN Specific Gravity @ 60 (15.6) 0.860 Density lbs/gallon 7.17 Flash Point 206 (402) Viscosity cSt @ 100C 10.8 cSt @ 40C 65 cSt @ -30 6300 Viscosity Index 163 Pour Point -42 (-44) I'm not sure if the have updated these specs though, sometimes they don't update the information online.
@@blackericdenice Well it's about how well an oil will protect your engine, other oils will do it better. Like how you floor the F165 you have. If oil starts to break down at high temps you'll start to wear your cams, ruin turbo bearings, wear piston rings and crosshatch.
@@bryanmartinez6600 The oil is not breaking down. I have a DL friend who has a F90, 2016 Fusion with a 1.5 ecoboost. He drive for Lyft and has 160k miles on the stock engine and turbo using Motorcraft 5w20. Ford know what they are doing and I'm not worried.
@@blackericdenice I used 5W30 motorcraft oil in my Toyota Corolla no problems. The motorcraft bottle even says provides superior protection in non ford vehicles that calls for that type of oil.
Just buy a decent oil and change it like you are supposed to or regularly. Read below for lots of Technical info. --- I know this video is 3 years old and around the same timeframe other people have tested other oils against RP and RP lost. At the time Shell, Amsoil, Mobil1 oils beat Royal Purple. Not saying RP is a bad oil, its probably pretty good. Then again most anything on the shelf is Pretty good as long as you change it like you are supposed to. Most oils on the shelf are medium quality or slightly better and they do just fine if you change it out often. Keep in mind I am talking about General oil, not pure RACING OIL, that is a whole different discussion.. I'll tell you like it is, a lot of oil is a marketing scheme, a lot of the high dollar oils at that (not saying all). I'll give you an example. The OEM branded oils 99% of the time are not even made by the OEM Company / Brand name and you pay a super Premium. On top of that they use the cheapest supplier or blender most of the time. I'm not going to name every company that does it, but OEM "Labeled" like Polaris, Yamaha, honda, arctic cat, (insert most automobile makers here) etc all do this and overprice / upcharge. My point is do some research and find out who makes what oil and you will be surprised. Fast forward 3 years later to 2023 and you may laugh at me but some of the cheaper oils you can buy are probably good as or better than royal purple's formula now (General oil, not talking about Pure Racing oil). A lot of oil brands change formula every so often and I would be curious to see what the new Walmart Super Tech formula does or even the current amazon basic formula does vs Royal Purple. I'll buy an equivalent oil to Royal purple quality for half the price and change it twice, instead of buying Royal Purple once and leave it in as they suggest longer. Thats just me.. To add to this - Shell, Amsoil, Lucas are probably the top dogs in the US, but like I said most anything on the shelf will be fine if you change it regularly. Amalie make a lot of oil for other brands which is just relabeled / rebadged. Anything from them is quality stuff. Amalie out of Florida produces or have produced private labels for walmart, O'Reilly, advance auto parts, Carquest and autozone. In some regions they may make oil for Walmart Supertech, and does make STP for autozone. Warren Oil Company makes oil for Walmart / Supertech mainly now I believe. Amazon basic oil is made by Warren Distribution. Kirkland oil blended by Warren Distribution. FYI these may change at any time. 👍
Interesting how in other videos where the regular royal purple looses up to 0.07 grams and here Royal purple looses 0.04 grams. In both cases Royal Purple HPS was not the oil used for testing. This makes things very confusing.
Japanese oils are mediocre oils and can not be compared with American or many European products! I realized that when I drove cars from Japan to Russia for sale, with low mileage, varnish deposits often appeared in the engine, when switching to European or American oils, these deposits were washed away! We also have a lot of pseudo-Japanese brands that are not clear where they are made, a complete mess in this area! Personally, I chose Lucas oil.
Brandon Lee Oh look it’s a trolling bandwagon jumper that doesn’t know good oil from Barney urine! My well rounded opinion became a fact when I’ve used the trash, and that goes for the garage gear oil too! But that’s besides the fact that my uncle is a petroleum engineer for Ashland oil aka Valvoline who test all the competitors products! Which I wouldn’t run Valvoline in anything I care about either! So you should use it in yours along with your tears and the piss you squeeze from your diaper!
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO seriously bro? Do you not understand that a real engine compartment gets significantly hotter than your little friction model? Lord help you if you don't.
Well so much for Japanese high quality products, very disappointing result because Royal Purple is not the best american oil out there. Thanks a lot for the video and I have just put Eneos in my engine, I’ll let you know how it goes in real life use. GREAT JOB.
Thank you i noticed eneos definitely had advantages almost every test was even except wear test but eneos was more efficient and the wear test is extreme that being said some oil can be amazing for example 5000 miles and then 10000 it may give some protection to gain efficiency of use.
Thanks for your input, if you can find the time maybe you could do an Eneos cold start noise test like the one you did with Castrol GTX full synthetic. It’s too soon for me to see any difference between Eneos and Castrol Edge Extended but the only thing that I could notice is that Eneos is a little less noisy at cold start, but then again it could be “placebo effect”. So far in my SUV the best experience that I have had is Castrol Edge Extended 0w-20 but I still need to give Eneos a chance and my final test is going to be Amsoil. GREETINGS.
NATE definitely the cold start is quieter with Eneos what I noticed is that the bottle that I used is different than the one you tested maybe that could be important to consider.
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO Updating my experience with Eneos after refilling a gas tank let me tell you that I got like a 4% better MPG than Castrol, never thought this could be possible but so far so good. With all the improvements or switching from Motorcraft parts to premium aftermarket ones I can say that my MPG has improved in total a 13%. Big thing what good quality parts can do for your car. GREETINGS.
