Fisher Space Pen was really designed for the astronauts and it was in space multiple times. But not the model you showed us (Bullet), but a model called AG7.

Favorite pen by far is the Pentel Style. Sleek, professional look with multiple colors to choose from, good pocket clip, sturdy and has an automatic ink retracting barrel

Personally the only pen I use is a fisher space pen, never fails or let's me down. I drive a truck and fill out a log book and sign concrete tickets all day

You might like the $8 Tombow Airpress. It as similar capabilities in writing under unusual conditions since it has a pressurization system. It also has a really nice springy wire clip.

Hi, I am not a collectioner but whenever I see a beautiful pen I buy it so I have quite an amount now. My favourite everyday pens are the Stabilo Pointball and the Paper Mate Inkjoy. The coolest designed pen is the Tombow BC-AP21 but I hate its very short refill . I have just bought an imitation of the Uzi tactical pen.

i really like the unijet stream prime as my edc. it’s nice having 3 different colors and a pencil built into a slim and strong body... especially as a student 😂 i definitely recommend giving it a go

I just ordered the Ti EDC Click and had it for a few days, took some fine tuning to get the cartridge to retract properly, but I love it.

I love the Fisher Space Pen! What they say is true. I have many styles. I don’t understand what you meant when you said they bend. They also guarantee their pens for life. I have the Trekker model on my keychain. The ink last three times longer. I have the AG7 - Original Astronaut Space Pen, Bullet with & without a clip, X-750, and my newest the Backpacker.

I'm more into fountain pens, but I found this video very interesting and informative. I do have a few Karas Kustoms in the fountain pens (Ink, "K" and Vertex)-----solid craftsmanship, just haven't pulled the trigger in the ballpoints.....yet. Keep up the great work, it's nice to see "what else is out there."

i have a Hoffman Richter tactical pen. its fast to deploy since it dosn't have threads on either end. its made of titanium and is strong and very light weight. you should check one out.

As I've stated in other comments, these pens take refills you can get anywhere, and doing a demo of writing would be the same for many of these pens. It wouldn't highlight the differences of what make these special.

I’ll readily admit that I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to pens. I have a pen guy that makes many of my pens. They range in price from $45USD to $ OUCH PRICES in USD. All of the pens that he has made for me can be easily converted from fountain pens to pens that use my personal favorite ceramic roller the Schmidt 888 F. My top choice for ink for the fountain pens is Private Reserve, They have over 50 colors and the ink is formulated to be archival. It will look as well in 2122 as it looks today.

Got the Cross suavage onyx zebra A Mont blanc star walker Two Lamys, the 2000 and the Pico... My favorite is the Mont blanc followed by the Cross. I'm a roller ball guy, and a sucker for a smooth gliding pen, and the lamys do not offer that

I like several of these pens but would really like to have a knurled grip which it doesn't look like any of them have. Living in Texas, my hands sweat a lot and a slippery pen is a no go.

Check out the Ti2 Design Techliner. It has some knurling that find to be very good for grip. It's a great pen! 🙂

@@BuffaloNickel9 Thank you both for the recommendations. I went with the Retro 1951 Hexomatic. After purchasing, I found out the spring was too soft causing the pen tip to accidently push out when in my pocket, but I bought a new spring at Home Depot and now it's perfect. Awesome knurled grip and I combined it with the Itoya AquaRoller Gel refill which has some fantastic lines. Definitely my favorite pen.

Seems like it has the perfect knurled grip and all metal just like you wanted...for 7 bucks.... honestly for the seven bucks it cost it's a pen everyone should have one or two of them in my opinion that is... Just give it a look and see if it would have fit the bill if you hadn't gone retro..i know you love your pen

I have swore by pilot g2s since high school lol. I remember my friend used to joke about me having a favorite pen but it really is a great pen. Decided to see if there is a better but it seems these are expensive for the sake of being expensive

I wouldn't say that. They're more durable and they're reusable. They produce less consumable waste, since you only need to replace the refills. The experience of writing is better (imo), and that's important if you write a lot.

On the fisher bullet... put the clip onto the cap portion of the pen. Guarantee it won't slip off, and it will definitely feel better in hand

I've tried every orientation, and every possible position, including the cap. In my experience, placing it on the cap made it slip off within minutes.

I think the main reason a lot of EDC pens are capped pens is because when not using it, it is shorter than a full-size pen so it wouldn't take up as much space. However when capped, you increase the length which makes it much easier to write with. However, if you do have a capped pen, I feel it should be threaded on both ends of the pen so that it stays on better, you won't leave the cap behind or lose it.

@@zombiesneedluv21 The Cross Edge has a nice mechanism where you pull the pen apart while simultaneously pushing out the cartridge. I don't carry it that often though because the clip is kinda weird so it rides kinda high.

Have you considered Montevide's Tool ? The space pen filler came with adapters for Sheaffer and Parker ball point pens in the 1960's.

Wish I had seen some of these videos before I purchased my first two pens. Fortunately they were not extremely expensive and will probably be good for practicing writing with a fountain pen which I haven't done in many years. I've always been particular about my pens and the paper I use. Thanks for this video, I will pay attention.

Fisher makes bigger versions of their pens that take their special refill. The pen and refill were developed for the space program. They write under water and upside down on earth. The Fisher refill does not rely on gravity to feed it.

Some tactical pens have a removable glass breaker tip. Is there a reason you can sometimes unscrew it?

I think it's mostly a comfort thing. The carbide tip is a little sharp and if you have it in your pocket, it could be unconformable scraping across it.

@@BeastMadeReviews Makes sense. But instead of in my pocket, i carry one tactical pen in the pen holder on the sleeve of my work jacket and one in the pen holder in my laptop bag, so i never really scrape or even touch the tips. I guess two drops of Loctite 270 are my friend then. Thank you.

The fisher space pen “bullet” (the pen in this video) is not the pen that went into space. It was a different pen made by fisher. Fisher makes multiple full size pens that all use the pressurized cartridge. The “bullet” pen is just the most popular because it’s so small and it’s pretty cheap.

Can't go wrong with a parker jotter and a Schmidt easyflow 9000 cartridge. Cheap enough that it's not going to hurt to much when somebody steals it and they can take a beating

That was from Allegory Goods! Highly recommended! It's essentially a notebook sleeve that fits an A2 size notebook (they have other sizes too). The actual notebook itself is from Clairefontaine--which I also love.

Hi Casey, this was a bit of a hunt. 🙂 I'm not sure the name of the refill, but I fond some on Amazon for pretty cheap: amzn.to/3zvGpNp (affiliate link). That looks like it should work. The main thing to look for is a refill that is 2.75" long. Hope that helps!

The second he said I don’t like fisher space pen refills it’s an instant discredit. As a big pen guy they are among the best all around pen refills you can find sub BIG $. They don’t skip, glob or require swirling to restart stagnant ink. Thanks for your personal opinion these pens are cool. Space Fisher pens are premium quality for less than premium cost. But to each their own

I've had issues with the Fisher Space Pen refill globbing. But I also just hate the ink for a pen for everyday use. I much prefer wetter and smoother inks.

My EDC Ballpoints: Parker Jotter Yellow or Green barrel (black ink). Zebra F701 (blue ink) (I prefer the weight of the 701 over the 301, and the 100% machined aluminum) Fisher Raw Brass Cap-O-Matic (black ink) EDC Rollerball/Gel Pens: None; Don't own any. EDC Fountain Pen: Jinhao 51A in Ebony, with a standard #5 nib. (dark blue ink) Jinhao X450 (lacquered brass body & cap, gold trim & clip), Red Cracked Ice, Purple ink. EDC Mechanical Pencil: Zebra M701 (matches the F701 pen) I have some Jinhao 199's and a Lamy Safari fountain pens inbound. I don't know if the will be added to my pocket yet. Oh yeah! Almost forgot! Victorinox SAK "SIGNATURE" (blue ink) on my keyring.

I've been collecting and watching pen reviews for about 7 -8 years now and never seen your channel. In all that time I was only familiar with one pen you mentioned and don't like that one. The refill is what does the writing. These all take common refills. I don't feel compelled to make b-roll of the pens using the same refills for each shot.

The fisher pen was truly used in space. It actually was commissioned by nasa to be taken to space, as a pencil was a bad idea but a normal pen would not work. Then they decided to sell the pen to the public.

He doesn't like the Fisher Space Pen because they have less than awesome clips, but then he goes on to say that he doesn't like clips on pens. Then he goes on about the one pen that accepts the FSP cartridge and costs $80. I just don't understand...

at which point do I say I don't like clips on pens? I think this may need some clarification, since I don't believe I have ever felt strongly about clips on pens unless they don't work (like the Space Pen), or they detract from the design (like the Schon DSGN pen).

@@BeastMadeReviews if you use the same ink in all the pens, then obviously the ink will look the same lol. But I highly doubt that the slughaus nano and the prometheus alpha write write exactly the same

The Prometheus Alpha uses an aftermarket ballpoint refill. Even if it's a Montblanc, it's still a ballpoint. I think it's superfluous to a review to show writing samples of all the pens when most of the pens use the same refills. And even with the exceptions, they are still ballpoints that you can find anywhere. The review isn't about the ink; it's about the pens themselves.

What are some good ink refills? I just got the bigidesign titanium bolt action pen & noticed it can take up to 200 different refills. Before I had a good pen, I mostly used pilot g2, so should I just get those refills? Or is there another refill that is better? It came with a Schmidt® MegaLine Pressurized ink Refill (P 950M) but it skips a lot! So I just don’t care for it.

Yeah, I really like the G2 refill a lot as an inexpensive everyday writer. Another couple of my favorites are the Uniball Jetstream and the V2 Precise. For a higher end refill, I like the Montblanc Roller Ball and the Mont Blanc Fineliner a lot, but they're pricey.

the fisher space pen background is true there was millions spent into its design so NASA could use it in space. the russians of course just used a standard pencil... pens are better tho

That second pen is far too small to use, especially when there is often no real need to have something be so small. And there is never an excuse for a pen to not be refillable.

It's an emergency pen that weighs less than an ounce and stows on your keychain. If you don't have a standard size pen around, it does the job, which is why I put it on the video. It's not a pen you would write a letter with. It's something you would sign a signature or write a note with.

@0:50 Yeah, I did steal a fisher space pen from a Jr. High Teacher. I think he was testing me, and I failed... Sad. But the ink does not flow very well. But it fits in my wallet. IMHO

LOL. Yeah, it's a compromise. Some people like it for its size and the fact that it will write in any orientation. But for my use, I'm never going to write something upside down, so I'd rather have a more free-slowing ink. But I totally get why people like it!

I have literally put the clip on every possible way and orientation just to get it to work. It does not work in any position. The current position was just where I left it.

@@BeastMadeReviews perhaps a dab of glue? Mine had a little under there. It’s solid as a rock. I love the space pen but I write on a lot of odd surfaces. I’m excited to get a Schmidt compatible pen though. Variety, the spice of life.

Yeah, I'm sure glue would fix it. But my opinion is that if a design needs to be "fixed", it's a poor design.
