I got mine in about a week after ordering it, and got it installed same night. It’s a phenomenal unit, and has all the features that anyone could want plus some. My favorite feature or capability of the unit is its LTE. I pulled the SIM card out of my old iPad and stuck it in here and because I’m in the IT industry I connected a wireless keyboard w/ touchpad like a laptop has and it allows me to remotely support my clients while being out on the road without needing to break out a laptop, setup a hotspot, and all that mess. There are so many more great features that you covered here, but overall I would say to anyone considering the unit, stop hesitating and just get it. You will not regret it.
Wireless KB/Mouse is a great idea. Would be amazing if Forscan changes could be made directly from the head unit but unfortunately I believe the Android app doesn't support that.
So it means we need a sim card with data plan to support its android system including the google map and music/video streaming apps right ? Without the sim card and data plan we can only use either sync 3 or Android auto/car play ?

Do not buy this product. I think this guy is getting paid to promote this android I have had mine for six months and I am disappointed, and now I have a line in the middle of the screen so disappointed.

@tyrelthibault5264 I love it. It's like having a tablet in the dash. I downloaded all my streaming apps, and I still have all my original head unit features, including the backup camera.

I ordered the 12.1 inch version for my Ford Edge and had mines installed last week and I love it. I got the 8GB Ram/128GB SSD and the unit is very snappy. Haven’t seen any lag what so ever. I primarily bought this unit for the wireless car play and Android auto. CarPlay starts up before I even get in the car when I remote start my vehicle. I’d highly recommend one of these units from this company if you have an older vehicle with smaller and older head units, totally worth every dollar.

So I finished the install today...pretty straight forward. There's been a bit of a learning curve working in the Android world coming from all apple stuff. I'm having some troubles customizing the home screen, The boot up screen and boot up animation. Also I'm having problems getting the unit to recognize where I live. It still thinks I'm in Canada...I could use some help with the programming aspect if you find the time to run through any of what I've mentioned. I LOVE your videos and totally stoked to have found your channel. Thank you.
I had the same issue. I think the settings for the location is under the radio settings. I cant remember but i will try to see if i can take a look when I get a chance. as far as the home screen and the boot up animation I had help from the guys in the F-150 Autotecpro forums. They will be able to help you better than I can with this kind of stuff.
Thanks. I've signed up on the forum you suggested. Just found out today I can't get a sim card. Went to my AT&T store and they say the IMEI number is for a 3G network. Reached out to AutoTech for help. Maybe I'm missing something or the person at AT&T didn't know.@@DeaninItYourself
Great overview. I have an ‘18 with the 360° camera and would like to see both views better utilized on the screen vs keeping them next to each other like the factory setup
Agree. My guess is that the head unit can only display the feed being fed to it by the OEM system. One thing they could address is the aspect ratio. The sync system is stretched vertically a bit.
anyone had any issues with the backup camera "no signal". Mine was working perfectly for months and now it says "no signal". Shop is telling me to install my factory back because the camera works perfectly with that head unit.
Absolutely excellent series of videos on the unit!! You answered all the questions I had going into purchasing this unit for my own truck. Curious, how does the wireless CarPlay work? Do you need a Sim card for it and how does the Sim card aspect work? Do you need to have a plan added onto your cell service for the separate Sim card?
wireless carplay does not need an additional sim it works with your existing SIM, you only need an additional sim to use the radios apps like youtube and the web etc. If you want these features just get any data only SIM, i bought one onlie through tello.com

Hey, great video, this is what I was looking for, I didnt wanna loose my Sync features. 2 questions for you. Does the Ford Pass still works ? I can start and lock/unlock my truck from my phone and also get diagnostics and GPS for where my truck is. Second question, does the RU-vid or any streaming app in Android works while driving ? Thanks for the great video. I’m wondering how much wider the screen is from left edge to right edge vs the stock screen. I realize it’s much larger vertically, but do we gain anything width wise; for example is the 360 camera view any larger than on the stock screen? It looks like it may actually be a touch smaller horizontally if looking at the distance from the edge of the vent to the edge of the actual screen.
So just got mine awesome video by the way it definitely influenced me on getting it had to questions one I have not pulled off my screen protector it came with I kinda want to but I'm afraid of regretting it once I do what's your take does it look better and respond better without it and second are it able to control balance and fade on yours I cannot thank you so much in advance
you can remove the screen protector, it looks much clearer without it, i am trying to find an aftermarket screen protector that fits it perfectly, once i do I will let you know.

I would like to see how you customized your Home Screen and added a pic of the truck on top. I’m stuck with factory Home Screen that has another country’s temperature in Celsius and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it or make,it my area temperature and stuck with the ugly color palette it comes with. I want to change the color scheme somehow but can’t figure it out. Your Home Screen is much cleaner and is something I’m trying to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated and keep,up the great work and content!
@@DeaninItYourselfOk that would be helpful! I’ve gone through the forums and found some info but nothing that shows a walk through of setting up a Home Screen similar to yours. I saw the pattern you used but haven’t figured out how to transfer to the truck screen. Another question I forgot to ask, do you know the screen resolution? Let’s say you had a pic and wanted to transfer to the screen, what’s the best resolution to keep the image formatted correctly on the screen and keep as close to the right proportions as possible?
Installed mine and unfortunately, because I didn’t know, verizon does not recognize the IEMI for this unit. You can check to see if a carrier does recognize it by finding the IEMI in the settings, under SIM card. T-Mobile did recognize but I have yet to purchase.
Excellent video ! How is the display quality ? Is it bright enough in sunlight ? Are the colors decent for playing video ? Does the unit disallow video if the vehicle is moving ? Can you see TPMS data on it ? Does the screen auto dim with the dash lights ? Do you see any issue with using one of these in a Superduty instead of an F150 ?
videos will work while moving, and the screen is bright enough for dayilght use, i am sure you can see TPMS date but i figure you would need some kind of bluetooth obd dongle attached , i am not sure though. I would check their website to see if they make one for the super duty
Question... If you are streaming and/or navigating via the Radio and stop at a gas station. Will everything resume after getting back in and starting the truck again?

This is really helpful thanks for doing it. I do have questions though. I pull a 16k lbs 33’ trailer everyday and want to get some reverse/rear view cameras to easily integrate with the screen will this unit allow Bluetooth connectivity or wired connection to any caress and do you know which cameras may be the best option?
Whats the mic quality like and does it have noise cancelation? A lot of this type of units that use their own cheap tiny mic tend to have horrible quality when in calls. Especially if you have a louder exhaust or interior. Im thinking about getting their version for thr mustang, thats the only thing stopping me from buying it. Because people can't hear me the best now with Fords mic with my exhaust in the back ground.😂
I know this might be a dumb question, I can’t seem to get any answer.. my autotec radio is in an “off” status.. it’s the same as yours.. my question.. how do O turn it back on?? Radio plays.. steering wheel controls work.. the screen is off.
No internet connection displays ... wifi keeps automatically shutting off whenever network synce is trying to be done... how do you get touchscreen to work properly after a factory reset is done ... the touchscreen display buttons aren't matching up ,almost like everything is backwards or upside down

I have the 12.1 unit in my 2020 F-150 and when it’s warm outside my screen cover comes off a little bit and also today my touchscreen stopped working. I’ve reset it like you show in your video and it still doesn’t work.
I have one of these and it works just great. My only issue is getting a carrier to provide a SIM for the radio. I have AT&T for my family cell plan and they can't provide a SIM based on the IMEI number since it shows a not supported. What Carriers are being used to provide service?
Can you use the built in WiFi on the factory unit to connect via hotspot from the autotec or does it need to be a sim card through autotec? Love the videos!
@DeaninItYourself what carrier are you using? ATT wouldn't let me just get a sin card they said I had get a phone. So I'm using HUM by Verizon $20 month so I don't have to use my phone. Everytime I get in the truck having to turn on wifi for RU-vid got old quick

I’ve had mine for a month and it constantly will just randomly switch stations or turn the ac on or off. The robot guy will just pop up and ask me what help I need. And the screen will just change on its own. Will an update fix these problems? Also, your Home Screen is very cool. I would love to know how to switch mine. Maybe a video on that? Same here. Had mine installed for almost a year and it would do the same thing. It also will randomly open different apps for no reason. Can't switch to sync if you are on the phone using apple carplay without it hanging up on the person. Stock system does not do that. The little helper thing would randomly pop up as well. If you are on carplay and just want to listen to the sync radio, the carplay app will take over and switch back to carplay on its own. Lastly, ran into a situation where the backup camera would not come on sometimes when putting the truck into reverse. Uninstalled after that.
Customer service sent me multiple updates to download and nothing changed! I hate how everytime you turn it on , you have to switch through the stations to get back to the one that you left it on. Looks good but not worth it!
Just installed mine today. I need a SIM though. One of the forums said a data only 4g SIM didn’t work and they needed a cellular one. Is that the case?

Hi. I am interested in getting this unit also for Christmas. I have a 2019 Lariat B&O but I've upgraded the amp/speakers with the Nav-TV ZenAudio A/B adapter (TOSLink output). It is connected to an AudioControl D-5.1300 amplifier with Focal 6x9 165FE speakers. So my question is can I use my existing ZEN-A2B amplifier replacement interface hardware with this unit with my existing Sync3? -Thanks great video. I will be using your videos to do my installation since I do all my mods myself.
How hard is it to hook up the audio control unit to this screen are we talking the remote turn on and rca s to the audio control unit, and that's it or do we pick up speaker +/- for imput to audio control unit.
Few questions. Thanks for the video. 1. Can you listen to regular FM radio on the android auto part of the unit or does the radio only work while your in the ford sync part of the unit. 2. If it radio does work. Can you listen to it while using google maps in android auto at the same time? 3. Does the voice activation for calls and other things work like normal woth phone. 4. You said it uses the factory mic? So there are no issues with background noise, echos, muffling, etc? 5.biggest thing is if im wondering if regular FM and andoid auto can be used at the same time. Like on the factory the directions will turn down the radio while it tells you where to go. Or if the voice guidance doesnt work can you still at use the radio and just have the directions on the screen silentyl? Let me know thank you!!
1. There is a radio app on the android portion but it doesnt work well, not sure if there is a better radio app to download so I just use radio on the sync portion. 2. you can listen to the radio while using google maps on the androir or even on the carplay. 3. The voice activatioon for calls work the same way as factory if you are using sync or wireless carplay, the only difference is if you try to use voice activation when you are on carplay it will think that you are srying to use sync. I spoke to the manufacuter about this so hopefullly a software update will fix this. to use voice activation in carplay i just hold the menu button and it activates siri. 4.No issues with background noise etc. 5. the radio and google maps on android work i dont remember if the maps guidance turns down the volume or not. I know it does when you are using radio and carplay.
I’m on the fence, I have read most of the forums. None of them speak about the longevity of the unit (warranty or guarantee) or how does the unit handle in the cold or hot weather? I live in an area that gets as cold as 5 degrees in the winter and 100 in the summer. I’m concerned that after a year or two the unit will start to crash or worse. Has anyone experienced such incidents.
If you're not in Carplay/Android Auto mode, basically using the 'virtual but real sync3 interface', how would a passenger lower the volume given the volume knob is gone? I saw the option on the screen in the carplay screen, but not "console"
Just a quick question not sure if you’d know or not but is there a way to stop it from defaulting into the sync console app when I first start my truck? It seems to default there for the radio and then Ive gotta switch back to nova launcher! Great video!
i think if you go to the system syettings for the radio, there is an option to start a cretain app on bootup, make sure that you dont have the console app selected.
Just had a question, maybe you know the answer, Whenever I open the console app to use the factory sync, it always opens with a fm station. I then have to hit source and then Sirius to play my Sirius. Is there a way to get it to always open sync with the last thing played? Instead of always opening with the fm radio. Thank you
