Great video. I have been itching to get one of these systems but now I think I'll wait and see what all the bug fixes and upgrades will be. I imagine the price will drop drastically in time as well.
@@thorpower1015did you get your yet ? I ordered from Aucar also and bro my damn order is still pending , they said after 3 weeks they’ll ship it then wait for shipping , sounds like after a month or so 🤦♂️
Cool you can get this for the lesser trims below an LT. It sucks though without a refresh for 2022 and newer LT and above no dual climate. Nice looking upgrade overall.
@@zachattackcustomsDon’t have a ton of time with it yet but liking it a lot so far. Once you understand that everything is still going through the factory equipment it starts making way more sense.
Watching your video may have answered my questions about the audio part. I installed it and plugged everything in and all worked. Only thing i didnt get to work was the audio. If what you showed worked i will try that and hope that will fix the issue
Same issue as @joeriviere1527. OnStar, GMC dealership, pro audio center could not help. Can you provide step by step instructions for the phone bluetooth and tablet bluetooth connection
There are many ways to set this up, you can still hard plug your and use it just like the factory set up, it is your option as far as setting it up, I still use the original factory interface, but I can also use the tablet bluetooth connection. There are so many things you can do it is pretty amazing, but it takes time to learn all the endless features. Because in the end this has endless possibilities to make it work just for you. Price definitely sucks, but for me so far it worth it.
Yea, this screen is a give and take. It's hard to beat the functionality of the OEM screen, but you will never get the features you get from this tablet in a factory screen.
I don’t disagree, if they could fully integrate the system to not have to work over Bluetooth it would be much better. I also think the CarPlay would work better if it just made the wired CarPlay into wireless Carplay through the factory module.
Problem is nobody has cracked the Canbus of the 19-24 models so no real true aftermarket radio is available. This unit connects directly to the factory stuff. I can tell you I have a system and it hasn't been a big issue
The only thing that holds me back from buying this is the buttons being for HVAC instead of the seat heater/cooler. I kinda like this system better than the Z-innovations unit because it doesn't make the AC vents change location.
OMG, I got mine a week ago and found the installation pretty easy. I have still yet to put my trim back on. Only the two side screws for now. After about 30 emails back and forth, I think I have almost got it set up. Since I have an iPhone, was very confusing. Right now I’m not sure that I am connecting to my phone apps when in Car Play ( AKA Console). Right now, my Bluetooth is connected to myChevrolet. If I hit the Bluetooth button that stays on the screen in Console, it gives me two other choices (GT6-BTD or GT6-BT-8A3F). I’m just trying to set up like you did by keeping my truck radio and my iPhone working together.
Steps I would take: 1. Delete all related Bluetooth connections from phone, factory module, and android module. 2. Make sure factory carplay is turned off on factory module. 3. If you have an Iphone: Settings, General, Carplay, once in there, delete all connections you have for carplay. 4. Connect Phone to factory chevy module. 5. Connect Android module to factory chevy module. (Black Bluetooth button) that shows up on the factory chevy module screen. Set phone to be first and allow secondary connection. 6. Connect Phone to Carplay GT6-BT-FD5D. On Iphone: Settings, Bluetooth, Blue info button beside GT6-BT-FD5D. Make sure carplay is turned on and sync contacts is on. Then make sure under mychevrolet there is no Carplay connected under the blue info tab beside mychevrolet. 7. On factory module music button screen, select GT6 for the bluetooth output. 8. Take a deep breath and some Advil.
Been waiting for a year for them to make one for the 2019 and up models. All, like he said there will be growing pains. Nice vid man. Android tho is the only way this is possible and not $5400 for less than half the features 😂😂 17:50. They will make it better.
@zachattackcustoms hey 👋 Zach I'm having "growing pains" ha ha my oem settings are not coming up. I tried 8 inch settings for 19 to 22. Still not working properly no 360 cam . They sent me an update for system. Hopefully it works
@@robertcarrillo8261 lol, You will definitely need the update. I would also try the 20 silverado just to make sure it's not that setting. I can't speak on the 360 camera, since I do not have that in my factory system.
Thanks for such an in-depth review. So many people just say, "it's great!" and end the video. How is the light level at night? Does it auto dim? The last thing I'd want while driving at night is a giant light source ruining my night vision.
Thanks, yea just because I get something to review from a company, I would never lie about its capabilities. That's not right for people to spend there money and not know the products flaws. As far as the auto dim, I have had no issues with it. I have seen other people say it doesn't work. I think those people may not have auto light control. This system doesn't go by the time of day, it goes by auto headlight control.
I got this for a 2024 Silverado 2500hd custom (2023 body and interior) the factory console on the tablet doesn’t show properly. I’m assuming the 2024s aren’t compatible. Maybe the company will release an update to make it work
I wonder if the idoing company would share how they overcome the canbus like in my Subaru. The radio they make is amazing and sounds so much better and the EQ is way beyond pioneer and other brands
Yes you can use the factory everything cause this keeps the factory module. It’s like having your factory radio and a separate tablet built into one screen.
Man, I’m so torn between this. I’ve been eyeing this for quite a number of weeks now after a buddy mentioned it for his Colorado. Found it for my truck (22 Silverado HD), and THOUGHT I wanted it. I’ve been down this road in the past with a radio similar for my old 17 Ram. As I expected, you’ve got the same issues I similarly had with the aftermarket radio for my old Ram. Not sure I’d want to deal with this as even though you’ve explained it all, it’s STILL confusing. I want it but I can’t stand android and it’s android based, the sound being off from the picture would drive me nuts and how you have to connect this for proper functionality is ridiculous. I would hope the company gets this straightened out; so many people would buy this if that happened. You’re better than I am bud lol I admire your patience and perseverance 😂😂 Can’t you still plug your iPhone into the USB and not deal with all the confusion? Or no?
@@justinframpton7806 I have not had to reconnect any of the connections, but it doesn't always connect perfectly like I was saying in the video. I am finding that it is a good idea to reboot the system once a week, cause it doesn't really reboot when you turn off the truck. It's kind of like a computer, it goes in to a rest mode, and like every computer, it's good to reboot it from time to time.
How bad are the fingerprints on it? Does it seem pretty solid? I’ve had some Android tablets that felt cheap, like they would break easily. Thanks for the video! Seriously thinking about ordering this for my 2020 Duramax 🎉.
I have a 2014 GMC with the 14.4. I had to figure everything out on my own but my reverse camera with is now trash as far as clarity. Did you have to change anything for that?
My camera wasn't correct starting out, they had to send me an update file and once I installed that everything worked fine. Also, you have to make sure you select the correct setup for your stereo in the menu.
I wish I had the time to sit here and listen to you talk for more time than you actually showing how the installation goes. I just have too much going on to sit here and listen to you talk about not sh!t
I am sorry you feel that way. For this video, I felt that it was more important to go over the product itself and to give people an understanding of how the product works. I felt that the installation was pretty easy and didn't need to go connection by connection, that's why I mainly did an overview of the installation process.
Awesome video. Do you know how the show Google Maps App in the "3D" view mode? Not the Android Auto or CarPlay...the actual App. I set everything in the Google Map App
I honestly just started thinking about that it’s about time for that. I have been making notes on certain things and will look to do an update video in the next few weeks. Just didn’t want to rush it, as I wanted to have enough time with it to go over new things.
@@zachattackcustoms not trying to rush you at all.. You were really thorough on the first one so I was just curious on what you’ve found since the install. I’ll keep an eye out for it though! 🤜🤛
@@_DST0NE_ Thanks, I try to go over as much as I can and feel that people need to know. I have learned some new things I like and dislike about this unit. Look forward to piecing it all together.
Oof for that price point id expect no audio delay. Is it wireless carplay / android auto? Could you default back to the oem built in android auto / car play?
Yes, you can use the OEM Factory Carplay, but if your factory carplay is wired, it will still require you to plug it in. I have asked them if they can some how add where it will make the factory Carplay Wireless. I think that would be a great option.
Seems like they just combined CarLinkit system with custom buttons and larger screen. All those issues you have is what my current carlinkit module does. I've have everything I need to make my own setup minus the bezel. That's only issue I have and system cost me $250 for everything minus bezel. I can't see paying $1400 for a unit with just a portable screen and cheap internals. I'd love that large screen but the price is what stops me. Is it really worth the hassle and huge dent in your pocket?
Great question, I honestly don’t think about defrost until winter. I will have to check. Either way, you can still use your factory A/C controls from the OEM module inside the climate touchscreen button.
That's something I can't answer for you as can no one else can answer for you either. Everyone is different and spends their money differently on truck mods. Some people would spend $1000 on a big screen, and some will spend $4000 on a lift kit that technically does nothing for you except look good. I have always loved sinking my money into exterior mods. But now that I have had it, I have grown to really like it and do not plan on switching back to the old stereo. It gives the interior a more premium look, but the functionality is still some updates away from optimal performance IMO. It really just boils down to what you want that you didn't get from the factory. I eventually would like to do a follow up review on this unit after having it for some time, but I owe it to people to give it some real time of use before just throwing another update video out there for content having it such a short time like other people will do.
@@zachattackcustoms I understand man, I just have my doubts about how it works, but after watching your video and your argument I will soon buy it, thank you.
does this 15.6" screen work on a 22 chevy silverado LTD custom? or was it just made for the trail boss? The console looks similar to the trail boss, but I think trail boss has an extra knob. but been trying to find an after market radio for my truck, but gets me haulted everytime with the infamous "Our research indicates that there are no in-dash car stereo receivers compatible with your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500". So if this works well with it... I would sure like to get one... any ideas???
I have a 2015 tahoe with the 14.4 t style screen, i get its original audio output thru the vehicles bose amp. Disappointing that you have to sacrifice audio output thru bluetooth, its anyone’s preference if they choose bluetooth or direct audio output. But i plan on getting a 2019 or 2020 silverado in a year or two for this setup 😅
Problem is the newer Silverados 19-24 nobody has cracked the canbus which would allow you to use non Bluetooth so until a company is able to do so it has to be via bluetooth
All the companies have to do is build in a framesync for audio/video delay or figure out how to fully integrate the system into the Factory Module. I think this would be better if they made the factory wired carplay wireless and when using the carplay apps, have them utilize the whole screen.
It all depends on how you set up the unit, which can be somewhat complicated until u get used to it. Do not set it up like AuCar wants you to completely, the way I set up mine is as follow: My Iphone is set up as it was originally to the truck itself not the tablet, i can choose either one, but you have to make sure that your phone is primarily connected to truck via hardwired/usb the sound quality doesn’t change, there is no bluetooth lag or anything like that, switching back and forth is not that hard once you figure it out. When you connect your phone directly to truck it acts and responds like it did before the tablet was install, yet you now also have all the tablet’s features and updates!!!
Looking at the camera option on the tablet what happens if you have a higher trim level with all the camera options like on the mirror and bed? Do the tablet show those as well?
I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado trail boss with the 15.6" but when I play Netflix it doesn’t play sounds but it’ll show the movies and everything else works, any advice?
I haven't been in a new silverado, but with the previous gm models, for audio we had to plug in the radio thru the truck aux port so there was no audio lag. Did this new current gm generation get rid of the aux port?
How long did it take for everyone to get their order? I've ordered mine at the beginning of August and have yet to receive shipping notice or a tracking number yet...
Same here ordered on August 2. Yet to get an order number. I had gotten an email where they asked for a picture of my dash. I sent the pics so just waiting now.
You will have to email the company like I did for the upgrade to get the file you need to plug into the usb that plugs in behind the unit. Once you upgrade, everything will work, not sure why they would send it out without the upgrade. Like I said in the video, there are definitely growing pains with this unit.
So all the reviews I've seen on this everyone has apple products. It seems to me if you're an android user it'll be easier to navigate due to already knowing the system.
@zachattackcustoms that's what I've gathered from all the videos. Also if you have the wifi on the truck like I do couldn't you just have the tablet connect to that for the internet instead of needing to tether to your phone hot spot?
Remind me of this question as it gets into the colder months because that only works when temps are cooler, as does the heated steering wheel. It has not been cold enough for me to answer that question at this time.
That's a good question, if the factory module came with it, it is suppose to work. If it is an aftermarket camera then I am not sure. I would still reach out to the company for confirmation.
All that tech and they couldn't figure out how to output audio without using Bluetooth?!!! That lag would drive me insane, not to mention Bluetooth audio is horrible quality. Even an aux cord would be better! They could have used an internal usb module that output audio into the trucks speakers. I wanted this screen but that Bluetooth audio crap is a huge deal breaker!
I’ve had mine for over a month or so and the audio lag wasn’t a great thing to discover, but I found a solution if it’s critical for whatever you’re watching. Prior to installing my 15.6, I was using an Ottocast P3 unit. I plugged it into the same factory USB I was using before and play it through the Aucar unit. When doing so, the audio is synced perfectly. The full screen viewing isn’t available and it’ll play on the upper side of the screen only, but video and audio work in sync. From day 1, I personally haven’t noticed any sacrifice in audio quality using Bluetooth though. My ✌🏻 cents
Zac, great video. I am having issues with the gt6 Bluetooth disconnecting. When i connect to CarPlay I can see on my phone it disconnects and then no audio comes out when I play from CarPlay. Also the factory information screen in this unit doesn’t show under audio the gt6 connection at all, my phone shows up as connected . No Also under phone connections on the unit it shows both my phone and the gt6 . So if you can offer any feedback it would be greatly appreciated? Thanks
First, did you pair the factory module with the Android Bluetooth. On the "In touch Console system" did you see a small round black bluetooth button? You have to click on that to pair the factory truck module with the Android bluetooth. Once you do that, the GT6 should show up under the music button on the factory radio console.
@@zachattackcustoms yes I’d do that I get the gt6 to connect then I connect my phone. But once I go into CarPlay it connects and the Bluetooth on my phone for gt6 disconnects and if I close CarPlay it reconnects. I am wondering if Iam doing something wrong?
@@titanTitan-oo9hi Steps I would take: 1. 5. Plugging into the factory USB will connect to the Factory Module's Carplay, so you could use the Carplay on the Chevy Silverado OEM Screen. I have not tried connecting to the new USBs on the back of the unit for Carplay, but it would be a pain to bring those to the front tray unless you made some cuts in your center console tray. If you would like to know if those USBs behind the unit connect to Carplay, I can test that out and let you know.
If you email the company, they should send the update. They emailed it to me with instructions. I was able to download it from my email link using the Gmail App on the unit itself, which I highly recommend so you don't have to access the USB's behind the unit.
Yea, I'm thinking that most of the time and effort goes into getting the integration right that other things like that fall behind. I think this unit should also be running on the latest android, which is 14 instead of 13.
Well that's a question I can't truly answer cause everyone is different in how they spend money, but I can say that it is more worth it to upgrade to this system if you don't have wireless carplay. I have tried out other cheaper devices that work, but not as well as this device. I am liking the screen size and being able to pull up my switch panel while driving and other bluetooth truck apps like my opt7 underglow, and my footwell lights. Functionally seems to be working fine. Not really had much problems now that I have learned the system and have it set up the way I want. It just boils down to what you care about investing in. Some guys will spend $4,000-$6,000 on a lift kit, wheels, and tires, but think this is too expensive. So, it's really just a preference if you want a big screen with more capabilities than your factory radio.
I believe so, but I personally would not buy it for a 2024 model cause the truck is so new. I would wait at least two years to work out bugs for the newer trucks. I would have never put this in my truck if it was brand new, plus it’s a good idea to wait until your 3 yr 36 mile warranty is up.
Yea, unfortunately any type of aftermarket stereo/carplay adapter is going to have a lipsync issue if it uses bluetooth. Which is very confusing to me, because all they would have to do is build in a framesync for audio/video delay.
