Great review. Just got one of these used from a fellow angler here in southern Maryland. Mine is not the Adirondack one it just has the standard bench seats. Guy I bought it from designed outriggers for it with lobster trap buoys. Very cool. And yep I got a 3.5hp 4 stroke w it

You can get an extension handle for your trolling motor that makes it much easier to use! I got one 20 years ago and it works great!

Cool boat. It seems like a cheaper copy of the Esquif Mallard which is made of T-Formex so only 58 pounds. The the Mallard is also about US$1,900 so about US$800 more than that price you quoted. Still I can handle a 58 pound boat much easier. The extra 20 pounds would kill me on my own! Definitely intended for a motor I would say. You are one of the few RU-vid reviewers I'd like to have a beer with. Cheers!

Your feedback is much appreciated my friend! Indeed, the weight of any Paluski canoe is its weak point. The price reflects that so that's why it has a place in the retail canoe ecosystem (right word?). Thanks for taking the time to comment and your feedback is welcome anytime! Blessings,

I enjoy your videos and much of your philosophy as well. One review I'd like to see is of the Esquif Adirondack. I believe this is a canoe that an average man or woman would use and use often. They could handle the weight by themselves. Also it appears to be fine whether just going for a paddle or to use it for fishing. I'd like to see an honest review from someone like yourself who is not affiliated with Esquif.

Great suggestion! I can almost give you my opinion right now - aside from being able to paddle it. Based on the specs, here are my initial thoughts. Yes, the weight is reasonable, but only because it's 12 feet long rather than 16 feet (the normal length of a good solo touring canoe). I love the T-Formex for rough water and ultra-durability. The shorter length, heavy rocker and Prospector-style design tell me it's not perfect for lake tripping, but it is perfect for solo river travel. The longer the canoe, generally the faster it is. The less rocker it has, the easier it is to keep in a straight line without correcting direction. If you are doing mostly lake paddling, I'd go for a Kevlar solo canoe that has very little rocker and is closer to 15' - 17' in length. Those are my initial thoughts and I'm happy to offer them. I'd love to review it in real life but that would mean someone would have to give it to me to try. :( I'm not famous enough for brands to offer products to me even to review. Thanks for your comment and your trust! Blessings,

Thanks Pete and you have valid points even if not actually able to test it yourself. I'd mostly fish from small, and maybe large, local rivers and occasionally lakes. My thoughts were it would be light enough to carry. I could fish from it. It could fit in the bed of my pick up without excessively sticking out .. maybe 2-3'. The only problem researching it was it has specs all over the place. In videos I've seen it weights from 37 lbs to 42 lbs. Capacity from 550-600 lbs to now 400 lbs. Their US rep even had said it was used in class 3 water which is hard to believe. It seems Esquif has finally settled on 42 lb weight and 400 lb capacity. And lastly I haven't found one unbiased review of it's handling, stability, etc.. @@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904

It looked a little back heavy when you were carrying it. Or were you holding it high for the video? Great video. I like your voice and personality! ✌🏼

It was not back heavy and you did get it right - it looked better for the video. In fact, I was actually trying fairly hard to keep the nose up so you could see the placement of the seat on my shoulders. I appreciate you noticing! Cheers,

Have you done any videos on the sports pal/raddison canoe? Really been interested in them
@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904
@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904 Год назад
Hey Jake; I don't own or have access to a Sports Pal so I likely will not do an actual review of one until I can get my hands on one. However, I do mention them from time to time as one of the absolute widest and quietest (foam interior) and most stable recreational/fishing/hunting canoes on the market. I would absolutely not do a wilderness canoe trip in a Sports Pal, but just about everything else can be done fairly well (other than serious whitewater). Thanks for asking!

@@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904 thanks for the reply. It'll mostly be for fishing, some duck hunting and really just getting the kids out on the river or some smaller lakes. I live in wisconsin and I think the only lake I'd be hesitant with would be lake michigan, that lake makes me a little nervous. We have 2 kayaks and a very old aluminum old town, I'm just looking for something that kind of bridges the gap between canoe and boat and it seems like it may do well for that. I truly appreciate the response and love your videos. Have a good one

@@ruggedoutdoorsguide9904 I seen that video , Give us a video of you fishing In That set up. Like catching fish bro. You can do it , And with the outriggers and everything. I have a canoe. That is why I’m asking you please

@@bestfishing6338 Still not sure which setup you mean. Do you mean with the Paluski canoe? I can't set it up since I don't own the canoe and it's long gone. I do own several other canoes and I showed my fishing setup with it. I used the outriggers, etc. I can't do a canoe setup for every canoe out there. The one I did is a good representation of all 15-20 foot canoe fishing setups. They're all the same! Cheers,

Perhaps! Not efficient, but most family canoes will lack efficiency and add stability.
