In fact, the real challenge for a stand-up comedian is working reasonably "clean"...This separates real talent from mediocrity... Because it's a lot harder writing and doing material, that isn't peppered with F-bombs and expletives, than it is to write mediocre quality material, that even kids or grandma & grandpa, and the rest of the family could listen to....Jim Gaffigan has this kind of talent....

Well, that is because fast food is funny. Trust me, I managed a Wendy's for nearly a decade. Some of my encounters were legendary. Not just the customers, employees as well. Management can also be a real trip. I did also get the chance to meet both Dave and Wendy Thomas. They were both exemplary people.

I love Jim, don't get me wrong....but the reason he'll never be close to the GOAT of comedy is due to his commitment to the safe and clean. To be a true GOAT, you have to be willing to offend sensitive people who let words offend them. Language is neutral, there's no such thing as vulgar, vile, or foul language. If a person uses "foul" language with tact and wit it's incredible. George Carlin won over Roman Catholic nuns with his comedy that contained "bad words", because they were intelligent enough to see what he was doing. The world isn't safe and clean, thus I like my comedy to reflect the reality I live in.....Just a thought.

The fact that some make very good money insulting half the worlds popuaation is a clear indication that sexism(hate toward women by males,) is PC. My girlfriend and I have done Gaffigan comedy special marathons and we both end up laughing so hard that we have tears running down our face and getting the hiccups! 😂 We’ve seen these specials before on our own individually... and it doesn’t matter...we will still crack up and have to pause the show! @@christopher5863 Literally, just read your statement, please, forgive me for my late reply. All comments are welcomed, by me, even yours and that's how I get into trouble by embracing dialog. Let me clarify that I only mentioned my race because there was a comment made by another person on here, "I guess I don't really find him funny cause his humor is for white people." Therefore, I felt an obligation to defend his funny. Furthermore, his overall appearance is part of what makes him hilarious. He is unapologetically him and actually picks on himself about everything including his own weight, eating habits and his pale skin amongst other things that I find absolutely brilliant. Refreshing to see someone not take themselves so seriously, in a time, when everyone is obsessed with appearances. Anyway it was to my surprise to read the comment about his jokes being for white folks, again, that's why I made my comment about being African American. My apologies for any person that was offended or bothered by my statement that is never my intention.

Just do a RU-vid search with that phrase to get clued in. Glad to to have helped👍. please don't don't continue trying to convince us that "chop chop" is in any way unique and/or a hyper-efficient alternative - everyone knows and uses this phrase already, "chip chop chip" is made up by Gaffigan.

Back in 1998 I was in highschool, a friend of mine & I would stay up & watch premium blend and comedy central presents... and other stand up shows at the time. Jim was on one of them one time when we were watching & we were crying laughing. We made sure to remember his name,so we can look out for him on other shows. Whenever he would pop up on the Tonight Show or Late Night we would call each other & say "remember that guy with the Mexican food joke"? When Beyond the Pale came out I was so excited to go buy it. Thanks for all the good memories, Jim!!

Jim Gaffigan is the greatest comedian on earth. Know that self-deprecating humor is the most honest and least insulting. He never says anything to hurt others, doesn't guffaw at his own jokes and no one EVER groans or boos at any of his jokes.

Domino’s effect was absolute magic. That is what you call a professional execution of a well built joke. I got asthma from it I was laughing so hard. I think most people hear a joke and just laugh, they’re unable to see the layers of genius. JG’s jokes are masterfully built like a brick house. Each layer is sculpted just right. He doesn’t give away the joke until he’s fleshed it out…all while adding a casual ‘slob’ layer to make it look like it was just thought up on the spot. Absolute genius.

"Waffle House" I hope Jim has the time to read this. In the 90s I played in an R&B band that traveled the south in a greyhound tour bus with 8 bunks on it. After playing 4 sets and packing up the gear we often hit a Waffle House. One night, (or morning I should say), we went in a Waffle House and sat for about 20 minutes. (Of course we had been drinking), no one helped us. Finally the sax player got up, discovered the one waitress and one cook drunk in the back. He then preceded to cook us all breakfast! It was great! We put $50 on the table when we left. I wish Jim would have been with us so I could hear him tell the story. Crazy things happen to musicians on the road. I have plenty of stories of drunken chefs in Europe.
