The fact that people start comparing bruces acting with other new actors is so humiliating. Bruce lee acted in a time where technology in its begining of development. With no extra photoshoping. Some action scenes he did it in a single stretch where our new stars take 4 to 5 shots before completion. Bruce had to slow down his actions inorder for the camera to catch his moves. In todays movies computer need to speedup actions inorder to make it look more realistic.
People can put other martial artists in lists of great fight scenes without taking away from Bruce. He paved the way for sure, but others added their own flare. Like Jackie Chan with his use of props and the whole set, or Jet Li with his traditional styles, or Tony Jaa bringing Muay Boron/Muay Thai into the limelight, and same for Iko Uwais with Silat.
At age 21 I saw ETD and that scene with O'Hara - was extraordinary. This movie so impressed me that is may have been the inspiration for my lifelong fitness and appreciation of MA, although I think it started 7 years earlier. Would love to have also see one of the greatest legendary MA ever, undefeated, 63 wins, 57 knockouts, 0 losses. 1st BB attacined at age 14, and 9 BB disciplines - Benny "The Jet" Urquidez.
Finally. Someone is showing more of Michael Jai White! Ranks up their with the best. Look how people are, rather than focus on how great these fight scenes are, I read criticisms. Figures.
Hands down.. THUMBS UUUUUUUUUUUP!! This is one of my favorites of Michael Jai White films.. the man is AWSOME.. the movie I could watch & not grow tired of it… the FIGHT in the third act is STRAIGHT DYNAMITE!!!.. although it’s all choreographed & acted.. that was one of the BEST FIghts in a film.. 5 MILLION DOLLARS worth .. the white fighter price really had me going.. he was TOUGH … it seems he left it open for a sequel.. make part 2 on bone .. word
@@mathewiamele3730 Spawn underutilized him. He was special forces as Al Simmons-- just a little more of him before he became Spawn wouldn't have been a bad thing.
That's the problem though "for an American film". It _is_ good for an American film but if you compare it to Asian MA movies it looks kinda gay to be honest.
Especially in the last fight vs Mat Mullins. They incorporated feints, Mullins lands some good hits to show that he's a legitimate threat, both of their fighting styles shows the personality and confidence of each fighter and you can actually see MJW almost slip. The fact that they didn't cut that out and left it makes it seem a little more real and the little things like that add up and add to my enjoyment of that fight above the rest in the movie.
All I can say is thankgod they made Enter the Dragon! Can you imagine a world without a blockbuster Hollywood budget Bruce Lee film. I mean dont get me wrong I liked the big boss etc, but the sheer production value was epic. Even if a little dated due to the 70's goofyness
The look on Bruce's face was of pure perfection and a defining moment of his great acting skills as well as him being the complete Martial arts master. A lot of people don't realize that Bruce Lee had been acting since he was a young child. His parents were actors or performers that toured China doing various theatrical plays. So, Bruce was a complete actor as well as a complete Martial arts master by the time he reached adult age. So, when you see him doing this face right here in ETD, he is conveying the anger of vengeance, and the emotional pain of losing his sister along with the sorrow, and then finally the relief of having avenged her all rolled up into one incredible face that he displays. Every time I see that face it reminds me of what a great actor he was! It's lost on people, the actor he was because we're so blown away by his kung fu skills.
I think Michael J. White is an excellent fighter with swift actions, speed, agility and physical shape that will be an envy of many of so called martial arts experts and body builders.
@@claudiodominguez. : Bro, he is in the movies for his Martial Arts prowess, not his acting skills, there are very few Martial artists who can act also.
@@Jupitor108 Dude, what's his fight record ? martial artist is anyone that claims to be. A competition fighter like Benny the Jet is a true champion and a movie star. Two very, very different things, one makes a living putting people on the canvas, the other is doing choreographed and edited special effects.
This person knows, these have been always the top fights in Kung Fu. Now we know they have been some Jackie Chan and Jet Li ones also we can't forget also Wesley Snipes.
Bruce Lee had the correct philosophy that any excessive use of energy was just bad technique. A master should not allow himself to ever become fatigued.
this was a great movie, wanted so bad for a part 2! imo, Michael jai white is underrated, Hollywood should give him more movies! he is in my top 3 of today's fighters. he's got a few different black belts, strong, fast..
This ended with what looked like the setup for a sequel. Another idea and I actually found out his email and told him (Matt Mullins) is that just as Uri Boyka became the hero of Undisputed 3 and 4 I think "Pretty Boy" price should have had his own spinoff movie as the HERO. He was not really a villain, it was just his job to fight Bone. He might not have been aware of the level of criminality of his bosses. Maybe in his spinoff he is horrified to find out how evil McVeigh really is and he takes the moral high ground and opposes McVeigh and defends some innocent people McVeigh tries to kill or harm. Bone never really met his match and kind of Supermanned his way through the movie. I think in the sequel he should have had to face a martial artist villain who, unlike Price absolutely matches him in strength, fighting ability and all around "badassness'. Have an enemy that makes Bone the UNDERDOG. Maybe Bone finally ekes out his win but takes a lot of damage doing it.
I haven't heard the name "Benny the Jet" since the 70s when I studied big time. Then I became a cop, and they told me to forget everything I'd learned.
No bruce cant have the best fight scenes ever because he didnt have the best fighters at his disposal or I guess at his request I should say? Chuck norris was his best student and he was good but he was nowhere near mr. Lee and his abilities. Whats funny is mr White is retaining his "humanity" what he does in his movies is beneath him quite literally. He can jump more like twice that high and punch twice as hard. He does not want to hurt us. He is beyond our understanding. I do know this however, he can do everything bruce could do except with much more power. Bruce didnt live long enough to reach grandmaster status basically. Bruce had more to give but had nobody to give it to. He needed only 1 warrior of equal or greater ability to ascend. He was actual legend yes but even he was lacking.
@@justinmagee2203 chuck nurris never in history was bruce lee's student or something similarly, dont talk about topics in wich you dont have a piece of knowledge, and Michael Jay White uses karate which is different and in my opinion less complete than wushu or chinese martials, so both are completely different styles. You can´t say that mr. white can do the same things and even with more power than Bruce Lee cause you dont even know what those skills are so you should read more and practise a martial art to have a notion of these topics and talk more properly about them
The fight scene is perfect because you have MJW and Matt Mullins, 2 great martial artists that made it believable. The fight captured you because it looked like it could go either way.
Matt Mullins character was too cocky choosing to fight in a fricken suit and leather dress shoes. If he had dressed in something more fitting for a fight he would of had a greater chance
Happy to discover this gem. I've seen so many martial arts movies dating from the 70s up till today. The fights here from " Blood and Bone" are superb in its own "karate/jiu-jitsu" combat style: clean and neat, basic, no complex moves (think Steven Seagal's or Jet Li's or Wing Chun etc.), no rope, no close-up frames... One can tell the actors are real fighters. Lots of nice kicks which is rare to see nowadays and refreshing to watch.
@@austinhaut864 wikipedia says karate, takewondo and kung fu. Interesting because I definitely saw some ITF Taekwondo in there. I wonder what level of black belt he is in each of those? It's rare to have people in UFC/MMA who are actually good at per se martial arts, as opposed to western kickboxing and what amounts to western wrestling ("brazilian jujitsu", created by Scottish family Gracie who reside in Brazil but are not Latinos). White seems, in this movie at least, to actually be good at per se martial arts.
@@nguyyt Not at all ! It is a japanese movie with japanese actors ! It is a story of two brothers... ( I don't wanna spoil !) year 2007with Akihito Yagi, Tatsuya Naka, The actors are really ... black bely in karate. So I hope you will see it
The Bruce Lee Enter the Dragon scene with everyone clapping in approval created/ inspired one of the Best video game EPIC fight scenes in Mortal Kombat 1
+Erchandixe “Rangø46” Khewniz Ong Bak was pretty good, but I prefer the Once Upon a Time in China series. 6 Jet Li films. The Yip Man films are excellent, with #3 out later this year I think.
@@rustyrachford7189: True... which is why one is taught to constantly move in a way that keeps the multiple opponents getting in each other’s way. And to attack first the one trying to maneuver behind one’s self. Easy to say, difficult to do! 👍
8:40 - man, I love Bruce for this, so many emotions streaming through him at once - anger & calmness, pain & remorse, certainty & confusion - the Bruce death strike!
No disrespect to Bruce Lee but his death blow stomp reaction looks like he's constipated. I wished it was something different. Oh well, you can't control natural emotions and reactions.
Personally, I think his character had mixed feelings about it. He probably thought, "Yes, I'm doing this for my sister, yet at the same time, I realize that I have just lowered myself to his level and I hate it."
@@jamesthaxton5553 watch Viking Samurai on you tube about Michael Jai white.....He's basically the new Steven Seagull. Very Good on screen. Camera friendly, but all his moves are extremely telegraphed. He is not a real Fighter whatsoever. Do I like some movies he's been in along with his fight scenes...Hell yes, but is he the real deal? Unfortunately not. It's played out like that
@@kerozenedoux6786 But he should first do something to make him a legend. He has no real fights to ever prove himself like tons of other fighters do. I judge based on facts, not reputation. I have never seen the facts.
@@datsuntoyy You did not understand, it is not Bruce Lee who proclaims himself legend but we who raised him to the ranks of legend, which is why he has nothing to prove. It's up to us to prove it and it really doesn't matter. In some Asian countries he even became a God it seems... Jesus proclaimed himself the son of God and many believed him, should we also ask him to prove it, is this important for Christians? Bruce Lee never said he was the undisputed master of martial arts, we gave him this image, that's a legend... If people want him to be the strongest in the world you can't do anything about it. One thing is sure, a legend dies young...
@@kerozenedoux6786 I do understand, you aparently aren't following what I'm saying. People like the Ipman, Chuck Norris, Wallace, Vic Moore and the like have proven themselves. They are the legends to me. I've always wondered why they looked up to Bruce, from what I've seen he was a master of parlor tricks who never proved himself in a fight. I'm not Christian, I belive Jesus was just a man, nothing more. This however is a completely different issue.
I love Michael White, he Was a judge in a tournament I fought in West Haven Connecticut at JKD. I was a black belt. I was in college took second place Michael white who is friends with Larry Rogers a tremendous Blackbelt tremendous fighter JKD was an amazing school. Larry Rodgers was a fireman or is I don’t know where he is now, but he used to make all our pants that were for tournaments good times real good people
Yeah I don't know what happened to MJ White. This was undoubtedly his best film and I thought he'd take off after that but no it hasn't happened. All his films have been pretty average or poor since. But the movie, Blood and Bone, was first class. The story was good, the direction was great, the action was brilliant, the acting was superb and very watchable - in fact you can watch this over and over again - like all great movies. So I'm left disappointed that nothing before or since as good as this has come from him.
@Junior;I remember before the"Fox Theatre" in downtown Detroit was renovated into an opulent, first-run"Broadway"-show and concert venue,it used to show old Bruce Lee and other '70s"chop-socky"films in the mid-80s for $5.00 bucks, when movie-houses still EXISTED south of 8 Mile Road and you could actually AFFORD to EAT in them with $ 6.50 buckets of popcorn and a $4.00 large"Sprite"!!
A video called "best fight scenes ever made" needs to have the feather-duster fight scene & the Ip Man vs. 10 black belts scenes from the movie Ip Man. Anyone who's ever seen that movie knows what I'm talking about. Also, the Bourne vs. Chimp (pen vs. knife) fight from The Bourne Identity & Bourne vs. Desh from The Bourne Ultimatum are classics!
the guy in the suit is a very talented and Real martial artist, Discovery Channel made a documentary called Discovery Channel - Xtreme Martial Arts, about him and his training. its on youtube you can search for it
@@padonk0ff513 that suit guy is matt mullins a 5 times martial art world champion. not really a moron. that fight is epic and so is the guy. you can clearly see he is good although he obviously had to lose the fight
The "Ohara" fight scene in Enter the Dragon is hands down, the best fight sequence ever. It really puts the rest in this collection to shame. -RIP Kevin Ferguson (Kimbo Slice), you were a gentlemen and great fighter. Sorry you never got a lead, but great to see you on the big screen.
MJW has to much “ movie moves” , take the last fight he is in the guy id a half decent fighter it goes on a he s dumb fuck.. totally unbelievable … Bruce Lee is working off a mickie mouse budget, has to argue with the director to get the camera shot ( that not only put Bruce as fighter but as a director on the map) and as he said himself …. It always had to be truthful.. meaning he could do it for real , that what has stood the test of time ….. had he got the equivalent of a big budget, like your man , the mind boggles at the possibilities, the man was a brilliant martial artist and an very capable actor, he was after all a child actor, but what makes him the one that every martial artist is compared with is his dedication to every detail of his craft.. he was brilliant, and that is not an opinion, that my friend is a fact, and the prove is the reason why people say that this guy or that guy is better …. Why the comparison if their so brilliant? You compare with greatness to when you want to be great .. but the truth is greatness is seen fluidity of movement, the grace of style , the dedication to detail, and it does not mimic it had it own individuality… and that is Bruce Lee
@@Callum620 Very well said. I was wondering the same thing. That was a beat down, not a fight,... a massacre,... like a drive -by with a automatic weapon on an unarmed person.!!
There is something about the classics where the cheesyness and intensity are just balanced better. Man even now you can still see Bruce Lee's jabs is as fast as Sugar ray Leonard's.
A competitive kick boxer once said to me, "strength is important, but speed always beats strength." So I asked, "what about Mike Tyson?" He said, "Just run..."
Back in the 60's-70's some of Bruce Lee's fight scenes had to be shot in slow motion as he was that fast the cameras couldn't catch all the moves- Fact !
I liked your comment because I am a big fan of Bruce Lee. I rewatch the Legend of Bruce Lee 50 episode single series and it never gets old. I never skip and watch it thru. However! I disliked the Enter the Dragon movie entirely. Bruce Lee was Godly compared to all the bad guys and that was kinda boring for me to watch. The Only person who had skill in that movie was Bruce, everyone else was a noob. Bruce Lee for example is like if reality took Scott Adkins Or Donnie Yen etc from 2010, and travelled that modern fighter to the era of Bruce Lee, is Bruce Lee. Imo. Imagine if Bruce Lee was in his prime in our era of time, his fight scenes would be so many times better because people in Bruce Lee's era couldn't fight real combat even with a traditional art being mastered because Bruce Lee was MMA strictly for combat like the pro fighters are today, inspired by Bruce originally with MMA, JKD is mma. And mma is kung fu because of Bruce. If Bruce was in our era of time and knowledge in his prime, that would be pretty damn scary. And people don't realize Bruce was too good for his era of time. He really was a Legend. This is all Imo. I been learning Chinese bc the 50 episode series, there's no English. Nihao-Hello. Jiao wo datong-Call me Chase. Wo hen gaoxing-I am happy. Wo hue cha-I drink tea. Ta shi lixiaolong-He was Bruce Lee. Zaijian-Goodbye. :)
@@coincollectorchase Bruce was one of a kind; an incredible human being and great master of his craft. Unfortunately, he was not invincible. A mistake in not warming up cost him greatly as he suffered from chronic back pain for the rest of his (short) life. In fact, in the movie Enter the Dragon - a stunt double was used for a number of complicated moves (i.e., somersaults, etc.,).
Awe DAMMIT Man!!! You cut it right when Micheal was about to finish off that very technical fight scene... NICE Cliff Hanger technique! I need to go watch that again because I seen it before but it's been ages... I forget how he finished that kick he does after his leg gets caught. Thank you for creating and sharing this! I'm impressed by Micheal J White technique and ability, wow he has speed and power he can take his place right up there with Best ♥️ I am Bruce Lee fan always.
Jai White is my favorite action star. However, I would like it if he allowed his opponents via scripting and fight scenes to get somewhere equal to him during battle. Think of Fender in Cyborg, who had awesome defensive skill, even using his bare arm to off a knife attack. It was more realistic....except for Gibson taking out an army of buffed fighters in the end lol!!!
How is he any different from Wesley Snipes, Seagal or Tony Jaa? They rarely take licks in their movies. The only ‘realistic’ ones are Scott Adkins, Iko Uwais and of course, Bruce Lee.
Michael Jai White is definitely underrated and unfortunately didn't get enough recognition like Wesley Snipes or Steven Seagal. I like all 3 of them but there's something about Michael (his speed of kicks?) that is really amazing. Used to be a big Seagal fan until recently. Wesley Snipes - not much to say, has lost it in recent years. But, end of the day, Bruce Lee was someone who can't be compared to any artist (maybe Jackie Chan is the closest to him). Good video and good comments!
I know what the film is, it's very one sided though to think this film has the best fight scenes ever made and shows the user who posted this hasn't watched much martial arts films at all. I can name many a film with better fight scenes, don't come at me as this film having realistic fights either because there's just as much BS here as every other film.
bbb@kneeboi;yeah man,and Chuck said he had"lost touch"with Bruce, after he went off to Hollywood to start a movie career. He said he happened to run into him two years down the line and Bruce asked him,did he want to be his opponent in his next movie which he was also directing. Bruce told him it would be the ultimate fight-scene at the Roman Colosseum, between two WARRIORS fighting to the death!! Chuck being the WORLD martial-arts CHAMPION at the time, asked:"So who WINS Bruce?" Bruce answered:"Well I'M the"star"of this movie,so I win." Chuch replied:"So you want to beat the WORLD-champ?!?" Bruce retorted:"No,I want to KILL the world-champ." Chuck smiled with:"Oh."
Bruce has inspired millions. But people should look more into who inspired Bruce. Grandmaster Ip Man. Wing Chun brought Bruce to use his style, jeet Kun doe.
Always amazes me how well Michael Jai White moves for such a big dude... (by the way, if you haven't already seen it, check out Accident Man... two on one fight scene with White, Scott Adkins, and Ray "Darth Maul" Park)
What I like about the first segment is the lack of background music. Mostly ambient noise, like a real fight. The efforts of the combatants becomes the focus of the scene.
