For any new driver out there, make sure you research the cost of maintenance and parts for these cars. the car can be less than $5000 but a single part might cost you more than $1200 to replace.
@@JuiceForJuice How much were you able to save in a year? Im 15 and turning 16 next year and I am curious on how much I can make as a teenager, my current goal is to buy a car when I'm 16. Without help from my dad or mom.
@@GadgetGaming101 its just what im getting at its just expensive fix thats all. they can be reliable ill admit. its just for a student like me i cant afford those fixes like other people can. bmw is a great car dont get me wrong just not for me right now
Totaled my first ever car, now i need a car to commute to school. THe bus ride would be one hour long one way. I've leared a valuable lesson about owning a car. Since ive lost my car i have lost weight. Big price to pay for this lesson. Got accepted to CSULB.
I am about to turn 15 in 2 months I am hoping to get my first car at 16 and I love that bow looks. What year is yours? and would you recommend it for a first car?
@@xvcalebbb8001 I love the older ones, and would LOVE a 330ci (zhp hopefully) but now they're slowly getting expensive, and so are the 944s, heck, every decently depreciated car is getting more expensive
I’m in grade 9 too and know how to drive. I drove my brothers 911 actually 😂. The car was so much fun. We went to a big empty parking lot, and the first thing I did was floor it on the straight in the parking lot and I totally scared my brother 😂. But the roar of the NA 3.4L engine in the 991 Carrera is like no other. I hope to own one myself someday. But for a first car, I’m really trying to get a first gen boxster!
My first car was a 2001 Subaru WRX with the 5 speed manual. It was a JDM import so it was RHD in a LHD country, great car 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a sporty car. Parts are relatively affordable and they don’t break all that often if you care for them.
Nice video.. $1k saved in the bank in July 2010, is worth $850 today. $1k invested in Bitcoin in July 2010, is worth $195m today. Always remember: Cash is Trash. Yet Most people complain of unemployment due lack of self establishment
This is 100%true self made millionaire like Warren Buffett and Bill gates, never made it depending on paycheck neither were they salary onwer. I think investment should be on any wise one's list and currently all of it is online in a month or two you'd be ecstatic about the decision you've made
@Benjamin Gibbson Well I'll tell you who works for me , I joined some online forum/webinar where I met some really good trader's Mr Thompson and his team stood out among them, they had the biggest positive impact on my trading and still handle portfolio to this day
No forex investors doesn't know him.... for my first investment with Mr Thompson gave me profit of over $41,750 and since then he has not failed to deliver and I can say he's the most sincere broker I have known 💟
Man I’m a 21 year old college student who STILL doesn’t have his own car. Feel like a lot of people might be in my position where you told yourself you’d worry about a car when finishing school, but now between the oil market, inflation, and dealership markups, that’s just not a possibility 😭😭
Maintenance on a car is the single easiest (and most neglected) aspect of buying a car. Find someone who is car savy and try to find something with low miles. If you have no credit history, plan on doubling your deposit if you don't want to fork out for the car wholesale. Going to a dealership will drive up price, but the larger organizations (mostly) have buyers laws in place to protect you, read up on them and understand your states rights and limitations. Otherwise, get the car title and insurance transferred as soon as possible. If you have no previous diving experience, you will be paying through the nose for insurance. It sucks but everyone who has ever had a car has dealt with it. Don't buy a brand new car unless you have the entire cash payment upfront. With depreciation, you loose a quarter to half of the resale value just driving off the lot. Truth be told (unless you're currently commuting from an area with high gas prices in a low wage job) EV's aren't the way to go unless you can guarantee moderate traffic, weather, and access to amenities. (Read up on car charging and the different limits) Likewise, EV ownership is currently tailored to those who own their own homes or who have an extremely accommodating landlord.
I found a 2013 Scion TC for $5,700. With 94k miles . Just needed a fix up on the bumper from a small finder bender and water pump replaced the pulley was making noises. Even with these issues it drove very well. And now it's perfect been driving everyday nearly, since I bought it in April last year.
This is a great video and they are under 5k but what you have to keep in mind is how big the engine is for example the bmw 325i has a 3.0L engine which is going to cost a crazy amount if you’re a student, you’d be spending all you money on keeping the car (the bigger the engine the bigger the insurance)
I actually owned a 2000 RX300 for my first car and then it wrecked... saved my life though with the steel cage! I loved that car! Would definitely recommend it!
I had a 07 Mazda 3. I LOVED it. But 2 weeks before I got paid, my brakes failed and i hit a ditch at 45.deffinetly about to get another one, and make it as heavy duty as an sti.
Thanks for another great list. I agree with all of your choices. Interesting fact.... although never available in Canada - as a Front-wheel drive (we only had AWD models), I believe nobody has ever died in a Lexus RX FWD. it may because of it being pricier/wealthier audience, typical mileage driven or the average age of their clients ... but apparently nobody has ever died behind the wheel of an RX FWD. Not even from a heart attack! Thanks again for the video.
thats cool, the first two cars mazda 3 and scion tc were the options to choose when i was 18 for my first car. i picked the scion tc now im 30 and im still driving the car and its in perfect condition still. awesome little car :3
the first car i bought was a 99 Subaru Legacy Wagon in 2011. i paid 5,000$ even for it. practicality summerizes that car up the best. I was getting 31 mpg on it when i was driving nice n easy. awd, alot of space, i loved the image that car had , it just looked like a stern dad's car~ it gave me a sense of prestige. 5k i couldn't tell you what i would buy new in this day n age. i rushed out and bought one of the last 2.5 imprezas once those crappy 2012s came in with their small motors.
I used to have a 2015 (face lift) vw jetta tsi and I loved how it drove and I really liked how well it took turns it sticks to the ground. And I also like the flat bottom strearing wheel and how the seats hold me in place as I went around corners. It seemed like it liked to go fast.
I stacked for my first house driving a stripped toyota echo hatch with stiffer springs, rear sway bar and stickies. It was fun to drive. I would also go with a yaris.
Okay so great video, the Mazda3 is an excellent choice, also the TSX is killer will last forever, the Scion tC while very reliable and has a awesome Pano roof does not have stability control , and they are not safe, in fact they have a propensity to roll over. A 2000 Honda Civic is a death trap, the Toyota Yaris is even more of a death trap. A 325i can be a good buy if you find a well taken care of one, a six-speed manual would be ideal. A Jetta 2006 through 2012 would be a great by especially the 2.5 l, pretty reliable some can have electrical Gremlins. RX300 is a smart buy, also an IS300, and ES 300, or an ES 330, or a GS300. Or for that matter a LS400. I also would add a Volvo S80, S60, or S40. Also a Saab 9-3, and if you're really cool a Volvo V70 wagon.
For any new driver/student you should probably just find a cheap car with the highest mpg. Theres a reason why yall are trying to find a cheap car. U don't need some car that is going to have low mpg or even mod it. Get your money up and then buy your dream cars. GL KINGS.
Actually there is one v8 car I recommend for a first thats definitely less than 5 grand, a crown victoria and honestly hey lots of them are retired cop cars, bullet proof motors, cheap to fix, extremely practical and roomy u could literally live in it, Its my beater car cause my vette is my toy
I bought a 2017 Mazda 3 at 3.24% interest 1/2020 and it wasn’t under 5k. Even a neighbors 2011 Mazda 3 with 108,000 miles in 2022 was $7,995. I would change the end year to like 2010 for this video. Love my Mazda.
I have a Mazda 3 but it’s 2005, those things are so freaking great for customizing and I get to keep it even after I get a Miata! I’m a huge fan of Mazda now just because their cars are so easy to maintain and work on
-2005 2500HD 5-speed RCLB 2WD $3750 (includes tax and 1 year insurance) -DIY ebay turbo kit, HP Tuners, 3h Dyno 3k =$6800USD, might be over, but its a 500whp, fresh turbo, stick shift LSx!!!
Hey brad, love the videos, btw the video with the civics rolling is from srilanka, and unlike in the US in srilanka the civic is not so cheap, its about $12,000 for a 1992 and considering the income levels, its bloody expensive. But it is true that the common choice for many first time car buyers is a civic or a lancer and its the same over here. I'd suggest you do a list of the most expensive place to own cool cars. Good luck and keep up the great work. Love from Sri Lanka. ❤️❤️❤️
The TSX comes equipped with heated seats and electric powered seats. On top of that it has memory seating position. Feels like a newer car but mine is a 2006
I have the same on my 2005 tl, really appreciate those features. Only problem is my nav screen went black and I had to replace my auto tranny at 120k 😅
Wow. I make $400K/yr and I'm watching this to figure out my next car. I currently drive a flood title saab 9-3 that's probably worth 1500 bucks. These cars are probably above my willingness price range. P.S. Owing an expensive car doesn't make you rich. Having people you love and care about in your life make you rich.
I didn’t get a car till my late 20’s. I was 29 years old on my 1st car. It was a 1998 Ford Contour SE. It was a little bit more for it at the time. My parents encouraged me to get it and even helped me on getting it.
I'm about to buy a Camry for just under $5k. There was a Saab (favorite/fastest car I ever owned not being rich) and an Audi 2T available for about the same price but the Saab was a nightmare to find parts for (seriously it kills me that they're out of production) and I imagine Audis to be expensive to maintain as well.
My SAAB was totaled two weeks ago, that's why I'm in the market again. Yeah, every repair was expensive and it seemed to always have something wrong. Transmitting went out, rebuilt the CPU end of last year... In saying that I loved the car. Too bad some pill popper hit it while it was parked
this is exciting! I just got myself a 2020 nissan versa sv. i'm a toyota person but i dropped the gun too fast at the dealership ship and this is what i ended up leaving the lot with, lol but I love my car and I’m enjoying it so far. I looveee watching these types of videos.
i come from a developing country and if anyone told me i would be looking for a car to buy at my young age, 5 years ago I would have thought you were insulting me. I am writing this comment to give people struggling some motivation. Life can change so fast, you just have to stay patient and believe in miracles.
yall dont get a bmw unless you got a good paying job yeah cost 5k but itll cost you another 10 just tryna figure out how to turn off the check engine light
My first car was an 88 Chevy celebrity. Ran it for several months with no oil before it was stolen and totaled. For the past 3 years I’ve been an rx300 owner. My only complaints are it’s expensive to maintain (but it is a Lexus) and I can’t find a way to update the stereo system.
My favorite out of those is the speed 3. Also, try a first gen boxster. Make sure it’s a model between 1998-200 bc those ones didn’t have the IMS bearing problem.
I still think the Chrysler 300 is the most underrated vehicle out there. Yeah, you’ll get a lot of attention from cops but the thing’s deceptively quick, has a VERY strong exterior, and the sound system is the best I’ve heard in any car. Don’t listen to the paid critics on cars. Listen to what actual drivers have to say about them.
Thanks! I've been thinking about getting a first gen Mazda 3 sedan so...good to know you and some other car channels I came across very recently have said it's a good car to get.
