Hi Nicki. First let me conceptualize the Peruvian Cuisine which is a big umbrella where you find very distinctive cuisines like: 1)Cevicherias and seafood 2)Chifa(Chinese-Peruvian) 3) Nikkei(Japanese-Peruvian) and among the regional cuisines are the ones from 4) Arequipa, 5) North Coast of Peru and the 6)Amazon. If you are in Lima I would suggest try the regional foods because you can only find them in Peru. El Rocoto is a great restaurant where you can find typical food from Arequipa. They have two locations but I visited the one in Higuereta at Avenida Aviacion. Do the same with the food from the North Coast and the Amazonian food.

Food from the Amazon and from the North Coast is what I still have yet to try, I have very high expectations, haha! Any plates in particular that you recommend?
@@hellonickitravels187 Yes. Maido is the best but you need reservations way ahead of time. I am glad that you tried rocoto relleno, but there other dishes like "soltero de queso" which might be the cousin of the Succotash here in the US. Also the "chupe de camarones" which is a shrimp chowder is a must among the dishes from Arequipa. From the north coast I think that the "Arroz con Pato" is the most representative. It's green rice with duck made with a squash that gives it that unique taste. Try Restaurante Moche in San Borja. No seas tan patriotera.. Se ve que no conoces mucho de comida americana y solo te refieres a las hamburguesas, pizzas, etc. Soy peruano. Has alguna vez visitado San Francisco, USA. No tiene nada de envidiarle a nuestro Perú en cuanto a comida y su variedad. Y así otras ciudades. No generalices.

Howdy Nicki, we are heading down to Lima for ten glorious gastronomic days in three weeks time and I made notes of your recommendations. Gosh, I think those fries at La Lucha are gonna be within walking distance of our hospedaje in Barranco. Is Lucha located at Parque Kennedy? I live in Medellin and love it but the food scene cannot compare to Lima. It's a short flight down so in the back of my mind is the possibility of making frequent trips for the proverbial getaway.
Howdy! I travel to Peru for the food sometimes too 😅 You're in for a treat! There are many locations for La Lucha in Miraflores but the one I can recommend is right in front of Parque Kennedy. Sadly, while their food is still better than most places, their quality has been going down, maybe they're getting complacent? Or maybe I went there too late at night and their ingredients weren't fresh anymore... Still, I'd suggest going to "El Chinito" if you ever visit the Historical Center of Lima, it's right by the Plaza de Armas. A bit of a wait to get the sandwich but it's worth it! Also, if you like seafood and ceviche, I'd also recommend a restaurant called "Costazul". They pride themselves in selling the best ceviche in Lima and they might not be lying, it's delicious!

No se necesita mucho discernimiento para darse cuenta que el pata claramente dijo que la base de la tradición “sopa para el desayuno” es usar las sobras. Dijo que es una tradición hogareña, no que el restaurante usa sobras. Aprenda comprensión de lenguaje
@@Pkmnrulz899 no, no se entiende así....lo q tu dices es una extensión, dilatación, estiramiento de la comprensión lectora...ya que dice que "los peruanos tienen la tradición de usar las sobras del dia anterior y hacer sopa con eso" siendo tradición la costumbre, composición literaria, doctrina, etc., que se comunica, se transmite o se mantiene de generación en generación....osea se hace constante pero nuestras sopas no son constantemente hechas de restos de comida.

@@ruyeracuaylacordova8180 sí, porque en la sierra hace mucho frío en el invierno, sobre todo en Pasco, Puno y Apurímac que tienen temperaturas bajo cero. Las sopas los calienta y les brinda las energías necesarias para empezar el trabajo diario. La mayoría don de res o gallina con mucha papa, menestras, cereales o harinas que las hacen bastante consistentes
I haved an Uncle, actually a good friend of my dad, that was an owner of a good restaurant about marine food and a Brewery. He already passed away (sadly in a very tragic way) and now his restaurant is called MI CEBICHELA (back then it was called D'TOMÁS) and is managed by his Daughter and Son. Please go to visit them. You must try the glazed camote on their ceviches, the mix is perfect.

Soups for breakfast explanation: Perú is a tropical country but because of the Andes (plus other causes) we experience winter too, so in those days (and any other cold day)we need to warm up a little before starting our days and a good way to do that is having a pippin' hot bowl of soup....on the other side, soups in Perú are a type of food to fight against the symptons of hangover as well(hen soup, especially)...the vitamins within the soup reinforce the immune system, the water helps with dehydration, the proteins keep you full for longer and helps with muscles, the fats and carbs in the soup give you energy, the lemon helps with the cleansing process, and the aji (chili sauce) wakes you up XD .....(the last one is optional)...that is why the hairy guy called it "ponedor", it comes from the expression "te pone fuerte" which means "it makes you strong"...and that's why we eat soup for breakfast ( for cold days only).......extra info: in the mountain region the weather is always cold, so people use to eat soup as breakfast very often....the 7 soups restaurant is good, but not as good as people think, it is a good approach of our soups to foreigners....the best food you cand find in Perú are in "wariques"(homework for you, reader), not in big restaurants...

En Perú todas , absolutamente todas la comidas son deliciosas, existen más de mil platos típicos para distintos gustos , y existen platos que no son muy conocidos por los extranjeros pero nosotros los peruanos lo comemos día a día . Lo mejor de mi Perú . Te recomiendo viajar por todo el Perú y te sorprenderá por qué cada ciudad tiene un plato típico y las comidas son distintas, por lo menos te tomara conocer algunae comidas más conocidas unos tres mes aprox. About the drink, it is recommended to take the Inca Kola but in a glass bottle. Incredibly the taste is better preserved 😋😋 And finish with the sushi ... Oh my God, what a delight ... !! En Perú hay tanto lugares desconocidos, donde te encuentras joyas del sabor, como en la casa de mi tía, manos y recetas escondidas, tienes que llegar a ese nivel.
Hello Nicki Travells, I am peruvian living in Peru and it is not chicken soup, it is Hen soup. That is the reason why the flavor is tasty, and the meat is harder than chicken. Pollo = Chicken. Gallina= Hen, Gallo = Rooster.
