I don’t understand why people choose shotguns for home defense over a pistol or carbine. Imagine someone you love or a neighbor is next door. You can’t control where buckshot goes. I can control that 115 gran 9Mm round coming out of a short barrel, with a reflex sight…
@@springfield03snipermisinformed opinion. 1) shotgun patterns are much smaller in real life than they are in movies and games. We're talking maybe 2 inches at home defense range, probably less. Try renting one at a range. 2) not all shot types penetrate walls. #4 buck, for instance, does not, yet is still very effective. 3) it's basically the deadliest home defense weapon. Very few people will still be standing after being hit once with a shotgun.
870 tactical with pistol grip and composite stock. With iron sights and an archangel 7 round caddy. Keep chamber empty so they are sure to hear that unmistakable sound of racking a oobuck.
The racking of the slide does nothing to deter an intruder. If the racking were effective, the racking of a rifle, or a handgun would have the same effect.
So you like the thought of killing your neighbors if you get a home intruder? Think about your ammo and do research on what will save not only you, but others around you.
I have an 18.5" Mossberg 500 breacher. It's stock with pistol grip and mini-sling. I bought it 16 years ago. It's loaded with 5 rds. Three 00 buck rds and two slug rds.
Mossberg 590 12 gage pump with 3 1/2" slugs and buckshot. Only add on is a tactical flashlight in front of the tube and extra rounds on the butt of the firearm.
The factory extractor on my 870 was not good, it was incapable of extracting some shells. The Volquartsen extractor is on of the best upgrades you can get for the price.
I have Maverick 88 with a synthetic pistol grip 6 position stock, I keep mine loaded with hornady critical defense 00 buck 7 shots no side saddle, i keep it in cruiser ready
Moss 590A Tactical w/buckshot mini shells. The tube holds 11 minis vs 6 @ 2 3/4. I need to put a light on it but I do keep some hearing protection right next to it just in case home defense takes place inside the home.
Mossy M590A1, heatshield tube loaded with 6 Federal flite control 00 buckshot, & 1 rubber slug, kept in cruiser ready. Velcro side saddle loaded with 5 , 00 buck & 2 sabot slugs, magpul SGA stock and with a streamlight Racker pump foregrip 1k lumens. Sling also magul padded 2point. My primary home defense is Glock 21 g4 loaded with Hornady 165 grainers with a streamlight TLR1. For me and my family it Works well.
@@belayasmert9943 I have Magpul furniture. I didn't actually try because everything I read said the heat shield doesn't fit on the A1 because of the heavier barrel. I really just wanted it because it looks cool so I let it go.
@@belayasmert9943 I just googled it and see that there is a company now making a modified heat shield that will go on the A1. Thanks very much for making me look into it more so I can now get that cool as sheet heat shield. Although I may have to wait till after Christmas to buy myself a gift
@bryanshaw4434 all I have is the magpul stock and I'm using the streamlight Racker forend. You might run into a issue with the mapul forend. Just widen the edges of the heatshield and you'll be g2g
I have a Winchester sxp defender. Iv had to use it twice, well I brought it out and was on the ready. once someone was breaking in my car in the driveway I had to make them leave, second I had a crackhead yelling and banging on my front door, so I loaded the gun and said I know you heard that sound . He left pretty quick. I know what you're thinking I'm not a bad guy I have a wife and four young boys, We live where we live because of the financial times, rent was cheap and the neighborhood used to be nice. Stay strapped, it's dangerous out there.
870 Police 3"Magnum. I also leave an empty chamber. A shotgun racking would get my pucker factor amplified if I were intruding. But I alternate rifled slug and buck shot in the extended tube. Similar carrier for extra rounds. But I differ from some folks here on a flashlight. I know my domain and don't need to advertise my location to someone possibly lying in wait.
Got a SDS imports SLB X3, really great 330$ home defense shotgun I got to keep at my moms house. She loves it, is comfortable shooting it, kept it stock except for the laser light combo I threw on the bottom. Now I know if anything happens and I’m not there she has the tools to protect herself with.
I got a 12 gauge mossberg 500 with a red dot.I really want to get the magpul stock and this cool grip that has a flashlight and laser built into the grip itself
I got the 870 tactical w magpul furnishings. All black but it literally came with nothing but a bead upfront there. I got the magpul barrel clamp and a 4in rail on the right side forearm for a lamp. But I'm a tiny bit salty it wasn't tapped for me or anything. Needless to say, now that has to happen. Very nice!
Slugs are a touch much for people breaking in gonna pass straight through and Into the room behind it and the you have no control over it so the slug could hit a neighbors house penetrate their wall and hit one of them so slugs are a no go for home defense buck is the better option but lacks accuracy and is still gonna punch hole all in you walls
Stouger model 2000 auto, its the same gun I use for hunting so I know how it shoots. Only at home it's loaded with 00 buck. Shot a mossberg 870 pump for 30 years but I started having problems racking it due to bad shoulder.
18" Rem 870 12 ga, 6 rnd SS, 2 rnd mag extension, Magpul furniture, XS Sights Big Dot front bead, Talon grip tape, Streamlight TLR1 and a two point sling. Just run Federal Flight Control 00 buck. So pretty much what you have there. Also have a Mossberg 590 that is almost exactly the same set-up. Should really get rid of one or the other and just go with one system.
I run a "moss" 500 I alternate buck and slug in the mag tube because I practice "double pumping" targets.. I love the 870, but I'd never make my iron sights unusable, just in case the optic decided to be rebellious 😊
Mossberg 930 SPX dressed out with a Mesa Tactical pistol grip stock with the matching 6 shot side saddle holding 4 00 Buckshot and 2 slugs. Tube extension that pushes it out to 8 rounds in the tube and one hanging.
I keep the Mossberg 590 in pistol grip, the longest standard mag/tube, also keep it breacher safe, 1st four rounds 00 buck then two slugs , and I have no need to get out of bed to grab it!
I'm running locks in my doors. Strongly recommend. In my 35 years of life so far I haven't had to shoot anyone ever, unless we count shooting with blanks in training during military service. 🤔
@CaptainsDen a way to aim, a method of positive ID, and weapon retention are essential. Things like triggers, grips, stocks, and such are personal preference.
Anybody using a shotgun with buckshot for home defense runs the risk of over penetration and hitting loved ones. I'd rather use a rifle with 30+ rounds that will not over penetrate. Definitely more forgiving if you miss as well. Just my humble opinion.
