A big no for me essential oils and fragrance…not for sensitive skin, I’m glad you review these products Gemma and this saves me from spending money on products I can’t use
That's interesting. I prefer skincare 😊 Thankfully she does both. But I tend to notice more frequent makeup. Maybe they'll be more hybrid products coming soon 😊
Revlon do a lovely light coverage CC cream type thing called Candid, I think its been discontinued cause I cant find it anywhere but it was so so good! One of the only CC creams that actually held up past lunchtime on my face.
Still looking for light, natural looking foundation for my 60 year old skin. Need something easy, and faff-free. Bought this in F6. Found it emphasised texture and agree, it showed up ‘hidden’ dry patches. I can’t be done with checking my make up several times a day so this has gone into the ‘good idea but not worth it’ drawer where I can’t face chucking it away so may try again in a few weeks .
Hi Gemma im 54 and I love this foundation it lasts me all day and I don't have any dry patches I love this its light weight even with my concealer for dark circles tried the hack and it doesnt settle into my fine lines either it gives me a soft dewy glow which i love ❤
Bought it on Friday, wore it Saturday and wasn't very impressed. It was fine but I didn't get the promised glow and my skin looked quite dull. I'm 53 with good skin that occasionally has dry patches. My favourites are No 7 Restore & Renew and Sculpted by Aimee Hydra Tint Skin Serum.
Gemma, I was legitimately just thinking about messaging you about the very problem you mentioned. I don’t wear foundation every day, or sometimes more than once a week. So I go along thinking my face looks hydrated and that the regular exfoliation and moisturizing I do is effective. Then boom, I apply foundation-flakes everywhere. It definitely happens more in winter but it’s a year round thing for me. It’s so maddening thinking your skin is in good shape only to find a bunch of flakes are lurking under all those layers of hydration. Many times it ruins a foundation application when I’m in a hurry and exfoliating immediately doesn’t fix it. 😩
Jen Phelps recently reviewed Make Up Forever HD Skin Hydra Glow which she really rates as a foundation for dry skin, the finish is more of a satin finish and I have ordered from Sephora UK to try out.
I’m finding it very similar to the L’Oréal plumping serum, with a better shade range but a bit more clingy. It’s very glowy on me (40, normal skin) but it’s ok.
I’m actually glad you didn’t rave about this foundation lol. Then I would’ve gone out and bought it and I already have way too much. I’m trying to buy less but that seems to be a struggle. I love your videos!
Thanks for your honest review. I would've probably tried this one, but I'm oily with flaky bits, so will probably save my money this time. Thank you Gemma🙏❤️
Interesting, I have the same "weird" pattern on my face. Oily t-zone, dry flaky around my mouth. And I can't figure out why! It's a fairly new situation for me. I started tretinoin a while ago, thought it might be that, so I'm very careful to not apply it anywhere near my mouth or upper lip. I guess it's just an age-related change! 😊
The only 2 products i like from them is the cream bronzer and their matte setting spray and that's it😅, i find the shades in foundations and concealers very peachy and pinky leaning!
Everyone talks about properly preparing skin before applying makeup, but sometimes I feel and look well moisturized until foundation is applied. What tips do you have once makeup is applied? Do you need to remove and start over?
Is there anyway you could do a video on which sun block/spf is worth buying? I struggle with find one that doesn’t pill up when putting foundation on top as well as being for sensitive skin. I really enjoy your vids. Been a fan since nearly your beginning. Keep up the great vids. 😃
@pampered wolf so you said no this isn’t your Favorite but you prefer a natural matte coverage. Can you do an updated top foundation video with maybe some high end and low end options in this category?
Hey Gemma great video as always I picked one up a few days ago I got F7 the colour range is a bit strange as it goes from light to dark the shade range so I picked up f7 as the other ones were to light It lasted all day but I had to power it I have to say I don’t have any dry skin so it was okay on me but it will be interesting to see what it’s like on other skin types take care see you soon ❤
Thank you for all your videos and honesty!! I have to know if you've tried IL Makiage! It's supposedly amazing for people our age or older. If you have tried it and I somehow missed it, I apologize for asking. Thanks again!!
Haven't tried this one but having tried other complexion products from this brand I find the undertones are really off (at least for me as a person of colour). Their "golden" undertones are actually quite pink! 🙄 I'm finding that foundations just aren't right for my ageing skin these days and prefer the look and feel of tinted moisturisers (just wish the shade ranges for this category were better!)
I'm 49 with normal skin which has some fine lines. My main issues are slight texture and open pores. I'd say I'm a light - medium neutral but tends to lean more towards cool than warm. I ordered the shade F6 and think it's probably too pale for me. I found it difficult to match my shade using the online shade finder - they suggested shade 3.5 fore which would've been WAY too light for me, even during the depths of winter where my skin is quite pale. It applies nicely whether I use my fingers, a brush or a sponge. I think the coverage is pretty good it evens out my skin tone and gives my skin a slight satin finish. I was expecting it to be slightly more glowy but am not mad at the level of glow it does give. It seems to wear well but I definitely can't get 12 hours out of it even if I've powdered it down and used setting spray. I don't find it gets more glowy during the day but I am recovering from a very bad cold and Sinusitis so my skin is probably not looking it's best generally at the moment so the longevity may improve once my skin is back to it's normal condition. Like you, I think it's just ok. It won't be one I'll turn to when I want to look flawless or for special occasions. This will be more of a popping to the shops, taking the kids to the park, skin needs to look more even and healthy type product for me. It's worth a try but it's definitely not my favourite affordable foundation.
Would it be possible to do a video on primers please? I dont really like makeup but want to hide pores and improve texture. Is it possible to wear primer without makeup? I feels as though i need a Pampered Wolf Prime Right video (hint hint) 🤞 I love your skincare videos.
I don't know what's going on at make up revolutions website because the other day when I bought the foundation I bought F1 it said it had a neutral undertone and F6 with it saying that had a neutral undertone, I have gone back and now I see that it says F1 has a yellow undertone but it's not true, I tried it with putting a bit on when I got it to see if it matched and it was just a bit light for my skin but it made me look pale not yellow, F6 is to dark for me so I'm thinking of trying to mix some of that into the F1 as there is no more neutral shade in between the two shades, I actually find the shade range poor and confusing for someone not that experienced with make up.
Got today from Superdrug F10 it’s just ok .. the shade range is ridiculous my colour is mad orange described as natural shade right 🙄 looks natural but not so glowy as promised
Your comment about the dry patches that show up once you apply foundation totally happened this morning to me. It’s like, where the heck did that dry patch come from on my chin?! So Gemma, is there a dry a foundation that wouldn’t cling to dry patches?
Same with me, looked nice fresh on but when I looked in the mirror in work 2 hours later I actually burst out laughing as I looked pixilated it was that pilly and dotty! Awful. The only revolution foundation I've ever found to be nice and wear well is the super serum foundation, but still not transfer proof!
