@@CookingWithTheCajun Sorry man I have a sense of humor but the recipe is something that I absolutely have to try when I can afford some soft shell crab😬 damn awesome video and made me extremely hungry👍🏻👍🏻 I appreciate it
Let me know if you have any questions. I love fried soft-shell crabs. I need to check with my local store in Rainbow City and see if they have any in. Thanks for the comment. Cajun
@CookingWithTheCajun my family love it but I think I still prefer a Crab boil. I wish it wasn't so expensive for seafood where we live. The only Crab legs I can find are pre cooked and frozen.
There was a guy on Lake Catherine, HWY 90, that used to put busters in a shallow tank and wait for them to shed. He was one of the largest crab bait sellers in Louisiana at the time. I think he had 4 softshell tanks going and sold a ton of softshells. Katrina washed the whole thing away. Have you tried doing the shallow tanks for softshells?
I really enjoyed this video! Man thanks for sharing. I'm from NOLA, down in the lower 9th ward. It's been a long time since I've had soft shell crabs. Yours look so good!😋
Yes, I had them back in 2019!!! The first time I ever tried them was when I went on a free trip to Nevada!!! THEY were delicious!! But I live in NY and can't find them here!!! But I will preserve and will find them!!!!
Thanks for subscribing to our channel! I grew up SE of NOLA. Miss the food so much, Now I am trying to share some awesome dishes. Have a great weekend. The Cajun.
Great How-To video! If any viewer hasn't had a fried soft shell crab they are sure missing out, I guarantee! You have an authentic N'awlins cooking style.....just need the beer to drink !! Anyone who hasn't had an egg not cooperate after being cracked hasn't done much cooking !! I like Crystal Hot Sauce the best. It's made by Baumer Foods Inc. who moved production from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 upriver to Reserve, Louisiana. Their headquarters is in Metairie, LA. They make many other sauces as well such as Soy, Teriyaki, Worcestershire, etc. that you may want to try out in some of your videos as lagniappe to the viewers.
@@timothygriffin1062 Thanks for the comment. I wasn’t aware they moved. They just had their 100 Year Anniversary in 2023. I could really enjoy some of Commander’s Palace’s Gumbo right about now. Thanks again, Cajun
11/21/2021 Hello Sir, I searched Google EVERYWHERE and I couldn't find the seafood market located in Garden Alabama neither could I find the store on your link, would you please be so kind to provide me the ordering link website please sir. Thank you ☺️
I found these in Rainbow City, Alabama. They are out now. You can look up Todays Ketch Seafood in Chalmette Louisiana and they may still have some. They can pack and ship for ya.
@@CookingWithTheCajun Is it crunchy, or does it soften when cooked? The many Asian buffets here, in Los Angeles, have some type or another deep-fried soft-shell crab, but it is difficult to ask them if YOU eat the shells. They think "who me?".
@@mikep608 Well the shel with the batter is crispy. The innards are soft. I only fry Soft-Shell Crabs from the New Orleans, LA or Gulf Coast area that are live when I purchase them. This way I only have to clean the gills, under tab, and mouth area before frying. I really enjoy em. Look for a local Blue Crab dealer and see if you can get them to get you some.
Thanks Ms. Daniel for the comment, we all have to start and learn at some point in out life and I choose now. Do you enjoy cooking? I would like to invite your input. If you have any suggestions on how I might improve then please let me know. I am open to any ideas you may have. Hope you have a great day. The Cajun
Hello thanks for the comment. Go look at 4:19 on the video timecode and see if thats what you're looking for. Let me know if that's it. Happy New Year.
I travel a lot, but I am from Seattle, Washington and I noticed that the milk used in this recipe says Seattle on it, but I’ve never heard of it, is this milk from Seattle? Edit. I zoomed in it and noticed it doesn’t say Seattle. It says seal test, and I looked that up and it’s for real. I’m still gonna make this recipe if I can find softshell crab on the west coast. Maybe pike place market can get it. I’m going there for some real red snapper soon.
Thanks for the comment James. That could be due to the freezing process. They may add salt to help preserve them. Salt is effective as a preservative because it reduces the water activity of foods and therefore reducing microbial growth in foods. Try to find some along the coast. They tend to fry fresh soft shell crabs. Good Luck James.
@@CookingWithTheCajun What other fishy things do you like to cook? Also can you do a pork chop on the bone video please. I'm not great at getting the fat crispy and the pork moist 😔 thanks 🙏 your number one fan from the UK x ❤️
