In this video I will show you how to protect the fruit from your fruit trees from birds, squirrels and other animals that take your fruit or just annoyingly take one bite and leave the fruit behind. This method stops is very effective and an advantage is that it reuses plastic! Protect peaches, apples, persimmons, plums, figs, pears, pomegranates, and even tomatoes.

I’ve been having huge problems with bush rats eating my ripe and Green tomatoes. I’ve tried using all kinds of cloth bags and sometimes they work but often the rats get in through the top of the bag or eat through the bag and continue to destroy the fruit. I’m so glad I saw your video. Tonight I will try with the plastic containers and see if that works better. I will let you know thank you for sharing

Thanks Paul! Please let me know if it works for you. I am gathering more of these plastic containers now in the winter to protect even more peaches next year. I also use them to protect my plums and persimmons and tomatoes, so you can see this method works well for a lot of fruits. One tip is to try to clip the fruit right in the middle of the container, because it the fruit is touching the sides of the container (which have some small openings), some animals may be able to scratch or bite the skin of the fruit. I look forward to hearing from your experience with this method! Subscribe to the channel to help my channel grow! Thanks!

Remember to add fresh clean water bath and a bird feeder around your fruit trees. This is why birds go after fruit and vegetables. Seeds and suit will help to protect everting from the birds. Squirrel need the same things.

I wonder if heat from the sun creates toxic off-gassing from the plastic.
@ldlink3935
@ldlink3935 Год назад
of course it does....but the next question is, does it stick to the fruit, and will a quick rinse in water remove the contamination....but wait, theres more....rinsing it in water from the faucet may be depositing some other toxic mineral or chemical on the fruit... Better off just getting your fruit from the frozen food aisle, so you have no idea what really happened to the fruit and just hope for the best.

@self-sufficienturbangarden5009
@self-sufficienturbangarden5009 2 года назад
I dont currently have grapes here. One person I know growing grapes had a hard time fitting the grapes inside the container. The bunch of grapes was too large for the container. I am starting to grow a fig tree, but it is so small that I have bird netting around it for now. I assume you can use the plastic containers too, but it is just harder to wrap the figs because of the location they usually sprout from the tree. (peaches sprout at easier locations to wrap them without having to break the branches/leaves)

Hi Maria. I am not sure how to save the flowers. My trees have so many flowers, hundreds of them (maybe thousands if I count all trees combined) that even if the squirrels eat flowers, there is just too many and fruit will come out anyways. You should not use the plastic containers on the flowers because if wont let bees in to pollinate.

@agustin8859 2 года назад
Maria, If your flowers aren’t setting and turning into fruit it could be a lack of pollinators or maybe your tree is not self pollinating. The temperatures could be too high, the nutrients in the soil could be missing for that type of fruit tree or it could be in the wrong climate. There are too many factors for anybody to actually tell you what the issue is without knowing where exactly you are and your soil condition and all the other needed information.
