This might be the only tournament level game in history with a seven fold repetition. Maybe it will inspire even greater repetitions in the future. As engines become more advanced, maybe they will be able to show us even 100 fold repetitions someday!

What is the rule on a 3-fold repetition always or not always automatically being a draw? In my entire life I've never heard of a 7-fold repetition draw.

You have to claim it on OTB games and also mostly arbiter stops the game ,if it's like 5 fold repetition but here they didn't.

@@ChessJourneyman 100 fold repetition done to make record between Vidit and Gukesh and arbiter didn't interrupt. 120 fold repetition done between Hikaru and Magnus to break the record just for fun and arbiter didn't interrupt.

@@manjilmanjil3003Normally arbiters step in as soon as threefold repetitions are made snd declare the match a draw. Here the arbiter was not turning up and the two players kept on repeating the moves just in case the arbiter thinks they have not made enough repetitions.

Same same in my games. I make a mistake. My opponent makes a mistake. I think I am winning. He thinks he's winning. And yes, occasionally, we both see sense. It's a draw.

Queen still trapped. It's not a super long line but essentially Rd1, horse takes bishop, Rb1 at some point and in the end queen is still trapped

Checkmate means your opponent is cooked,mate in one means your opponent is going to be cooked in one move.

Rd2 traps the queen after Qc2. Compared to what happened to the game, Vidit would end up trading the queen for a rook anyways.

@@terrarossa-tk6zu No, not him, only his flag. Karjakin was banned. Dubov can still play if he wants just like the other Russians (Nepo, Grischuk, etc.)). This year he played tournaments e. g. in Russia, China, Dubai, etc. (can be found on the Fide website).
