I live in Thailand and I've brought a 30.488 gram 23k (96.5% gold) chain for around $1700, in the west you pay so much for labor, in Thailand they don't even class anything under 18k as gold, coz when you think about it... its made from more of other materials than gold

If you want to know the math he did on his calculator it is simple. The 2nd chain for $1500 is 26 grams. Out of the 26 grams 14.8 grams of it is .999 fine Gold assuming it is 14K. 26gramsX.57= 14.8 (.57 represents 57% of pure gold in the chain) 14.8x$101.35= $1,500 He is charging $101.35 a gram for that chain.
