I've been looking forward to this projector - BenQ didn't launch the LH600ST over here in Australia but I have confirmation that the updated AH700ST will be soon
Nice! Yeah the auto setup, motorized auto focus and 4000 lumen laser really seems like the ultimate package. I should not discount the Golf Mode either. I had that with the 936 and it is a great color for sure. It's cool they worked with GSPRO designers to dial it in so well. Seems like this is what most want, quality but not over $2k, and easy setup.
I have a 8.5’x11.5’ enclosure from carls and I just got this projector to replace a projector that I currently have. I live in Hazel park Michigan and when it gets cold I like to bring everything inside after every golf session when it’s really cold and when I decide to come back out I heat the garage up and then set everything back up. Having a ceiling mount is a pain but I’ve been doing it this way every winter. So when I saw this projector I was happy to spend the money just to not have to try and adjust my ceiling projector every time I come out to play golf in the winter. I literally just tried to mount this projector today and it self adjusted once but after that it’s not wanting to. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong but it’s getting frustrating. I’m not all that great with measurements and all this tech stuff. It worked fine once and after that not so good. I need your help bro lol I thought it would be so easy just to use the same mount location on the ceiling but apparently not. It’s suppose to be self adjusting and easy but all it’s been is an expensive headache. I’m currently watching the end of the Yankee / dodger game on my other projector and the $1800 projector is back in the box for now.
Yes sir more than a couple times. I’m gonna tinker with it a little more today after the lions game goes off. I’m hoping it’s just something simple as just moving the ceiling mount forward but before I do all that I’m gonna try and use a table and set other up on the ground and see if it self adjusts. Be easier to move back and forth to get it in a good spot. I was hoping when I bought it that it would do all that one its own.
@@eo621 yeah I would assume a setup issue or it can’t see the setup image properly for some reason. I’m sure a simple email to BenQ support would narrow it down if needed. I’ve used it several times now in spaces and simple as I showed in the video so has to be something odd going on. Go Lions 🦁
I just did the benq planner on the website and it doesn’t look to far off from where I have my ceiling mount now. I don’t get how it worked one time with the self adjust and now it’s not. The self adjust is simple or at least it should be with a touch of a button and then the corner fit so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ll call them tomorrow and see if they can help me. Go lions !
Great video, I really think this is a winner even over the new TK710STI. For a home theater which are typically dark with much better screens maybe not, but for golf sims which typically have some ambient light. The 4000 lumens v 3200 lumens and the corner correction really are key features for a sim.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I had seen a video claiming the lumens in the golf mode of the AH700ST were lower than the equivalent TK710Sti equivalent mode. Roughly 2200 vs 2400 lumens?
@@mikecalvagna6904 I just saw the same video interesting. The AH700st is about 500 lumens brighter in the brightest mode but picture quality isn't great for either. With picture quality taken into account - In golf mode the AH700st is actually 200 lumens less than the TK710st in living room mode
Thanks for posting. Always great info. How much sharper is lk936st. And how much brighter. I mean subjectively. Is it really substantially better or marginally?
I can see the difference for 4k but might be minimal for many depending on software they are running. Brightness measures more on 936 but in reasonable dark room once again not sure you would notice much of a difference. The 936 has an edge for sure but I think many will weight the value depending on their budget. Both good units fitting in different spots.
Thanks for the video! This looks great but Need to test this against the new benq tk710sti.. not quite as many lumens but 4k and better throw ratio than previous model, price is very close to same..will be an interesting shootout
It’s going to be a budget/preference for most. 800lm yes is quite a bit brighter if you need it. 1080p is actually attractive to most DIY home users because it takes a much more expensive PC to run high quality duplicated 4k in quality. Many also tend to lean towards easy setup so with auto setup and auto motorized focus I think it also will attract users. The 710st also might be for a good chunk of users but they both have their purpose. Thanks for watching!
Great video Jay! Thanks for posting it. Am mostly curious how it will do with a lot of ambient light. I have the TK700STi and love the pic quality but is just not bright enough. Would this handle a lot of light? Curious if you will do any testing on that. Thanks again!
The 4000 lumen laser is BRIGHT! I can’t imagine most people having Enough ambient light where you would need something brighter. Keep in mind. I have a lot of light in my studio, lighting up the subject for recording.
Thanks! I think I might get this projector. Do you still have the same great feeling for it ? 😁 Also. How high and behind ball is your projector?! And you have an 12x8’ screen correct? I’m trying to plan for an sig 10 build. THANKS FOR YOUR TIPS! Subbed

What’s the contrast ratio of this one? And does that make a big difference if it is high? I have an optoma 4200 lumen projector but the contrast ratio is low compared to a lot of projectors out there. Am I missing out? 🍻
This is 3,000,00 to 1. Yes it makes a difference for sure. Gives you more detail and even though a projector can’t product a black really helps darken that darks.
Seems like the 820 replacement? I think they just discontinued it. Watching now but curious and hoping you compare them. Also, thanks for discussing the clarity. I was very skeptical that a unit that stretched the corners etc would not blur at the edges. You seem to say the geometric correction has not affected the focus at the edges?
Less correction the better for sure but this seems to have stated nice and sharp for me. I didn’t know they were discontinuing the 820 but makes sense as this really has so many more features and easy setup etc just makes sense
How does it do with some light? I don’t like hitting with really low light. Also how do you compare this one to TH710St. I know this one is easier to set up but you can get 4K for about same price
My hitting area is well lit in my opinion and it does well. I am not sure about comparison to 710ST. Keep in mind sometimes it is not all about 4k for various reasons, lumens can be more important in many cases, some people do not want to have a larger more expensive GPU to run 4k. Thanks for watching
Direct sunlight is hard for any projector, remember projectors can’t produce a black. If that’s the case you really need to look at something very high like 8000lm to be decent. Direct sunlight on a screen kills though no matter what.
Great video...looking to upgrade from my current projector which is the Benq MW632ST. I was only going to consider 4k this time around. Should I pay the extra money for 4K or go with this new projector in 1080p? There seems to be a lot of 4k projectors in or near this price range of 1899. Confused as I was thinking 4K to somewhat future proof my sim. Thanks Jay...looking forward to your reply...Rex
this projector even though it’s native 1080 , definitely has a very nice clarity. I think the important thing to understand is that it takes a beefy computer to duplicate monitors in 4K. They basically looked at the marketplace and since the majority are 1080 that’s why they went this route to keep the price down but go high lumen laser with all the features like motorized focus etc. I think you can buy a lower price 4K but you’re going to find that some of them are only 4K input or they’re not going to produce as nice of a bright image or have the adjustability
The 4K version of this projector, AK700ST, will be launching at the end of the year. I have heard 4K doesn’t matter as much for golf sims because of the screen impact material used and that high lumens at 1080p should be the priority.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Thanks Jay for your reply and for reinforcing your points from your video and alerting me to research 4K specs, computer needs and the lumens factor...many things to consider...appreciate it Jay...thank-you! Rex
@@Soarbywire Thanks for the projector news and the fact that impact screens don't fair as well in clarity as regular theater screens...appreciate the high lumens importance too! Thank-you! Rex
Shockingly this stands strong against the 936 due to brightness. I will say you can see the 936ST being a little crisper for sure but to the gen pop I’m not sure many would really notice. Especially considering some software that is actually native 1080P even though you might run it 4k.
How is the brightness in image Golf mode? I heard 4000 lumens can only be reached in image Bright mode but colour accuracy drops off. In Golf mode brightness goes down to 2000 lumens.
Look at this video, this is in Golf Mode. I didn’t see a brightness drop. Not sure who you “heard” it from but my experience so far has been really good with it for the price etc. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B4D44g_Rq_k.htmlsi=NnBc_ygvXL3DG9fb
@@GolfSimulatorVideoshi mate - that is interesting and looks good. I watched the RU-vid review from “The Hook Up”; The title of the video is “2024 Ultimate Golf Sim Projector Comparison and Setup Guide”. I am considering this projector because it still presents as excellent value and the auto focus and setup feature makes it a breeze.
I think it’s going to dependent on if the user values the auto setup and auto focus alone with if their room is dark enough. The lumens on this are noticeable and nice and bright/crisp. Some don’t value 4k as it takes a more powerful PC to run the latest softwares at high quality so 1080p with higher lumens can be a better value for many.
Based on all my testing, everything is showing in the same quality. I generally stream from my computer if I’m watching something on the projector screen.
lots of projectors do the auto adjust to the screen. hell even portable projectors have had that since 2021. Hard to say best projector when its not 4k. maybe best all around projector or best in price, but not the best.
I think it’s checking a lot of boxes users have been asking for. I never said it was the best just that it might be. And I think for some users it probably is. 1080P is the most popular resolution by far. A lot of that has to do with people not being able to budget for the computer to handle the resolution at high-quality with some of the latest software. It’s always going to be a personal preference based on features users want and especially budget and space dimensions, etc.
