Hopefully soon!! I’m gonna be doing one for a specific pedal in a couple of weeks, and I’d love to do another pedal showcase type of thing again as well.
I'm a little late to the game on this, but as I'm researching the Chase Mood Bliss and the Microcosm, I found your vid and am seriously considering the Dark Star, so thanks for the detailed sound demo!! Also, where di you get your Electron sounds?? They don't sound like the pre-installed sounds, they're super cool!
For my vintage cheapkeys, I start with Whammy 5, MXR 10 band eq, and some dirt. Favourite dirt maker has to be Death by Audio, but old school ripping tone bender fuzz is also delightful.
Awesome video! Yeah Thermae is my desert island pedal. Even when I sold all other pedals when getting into modular, I couldn’t part from it. And I’m so happy I didn’t.
Thank you!! Yeah to be honest, when I think of pedals with modular, you & Thermae come to mind! You’ve definitely developed your own sound with that pairing.
Ahhh yes I loved the Mood! I had and sold that as well, kinda for the same reasons I did the Thermae. I have an old synth/guitar demo for that one that I revisit when I miss it
Mercury with Electron sound so superb to me. Very interesting and informational video. Iam new to world of hardware synths and pedals so like to explore them more in future 💫
I made it to the end. it tiook me 3+ years to get here. but I'm here now, & that's all there really is. right? anyway... great vid. I love this sort of demo. bravo!!
@@SlowHaste well... it took me the 3+ years to find the vid, & then start the dang thing. but to finish it... well, that only took... well, however long the video is, silly. ;-P
Made it to the end :) I recently got a Keeley Caverns pedal for use with the Dreadbox Typhon and it's no slouch but DAMN I think that Mercury 7 would replace it nicely. All of these are now on my "to hunt for" list. Thanks!
Haha thanks for watching :). The guitarist in my band had a caverns and it was super sick!! But yeah, the M7 is something special., definitely try it if you get a chance!
And here I thought I'd be an electro harmonix only kind of guy. These were some damn compelling pedals! I'm curious how you go about picking out pedals for synths. It feels like without a lot of demo's it's a bit of a crap shoot on if it works well for you or not.
My secret? I already had them all for my guitar when I was playing in a band haha. I haven’t actually purchased a pedal specifically for synths… but boy am I interested in the Strymon Nightsky
Good question... and yes, occasionally it does! A majority of the time, I’ll use a pedal to sample into the DT, so it becomes moot anyways (but gives me the flexibility to create multiple stereo effects later one). But when I want to use a pedal as a sort of master effect, it can be frustrating for sure.
6:08 oh, your digitakt is also blue instead of white in dark envirorments - bad led quality control. my first digitakt was always pure white - the new one is blue.
Thanks! It’s been a while since I’ve messed with that combo, but meteore on drums is always a good time (lots of cool little splashes in the reverb signal)
That’s a great question and I’m not totally sure - a workaround could be to record to recording software and then play the sample back into the hardware

I’ve watched this video a couple of times and some other reviews on the Microcosm and Idk if this would be an overkill for me considering I’ve never owned a pedal before. I love how it sounds tho. I own several POs and the Model Cycles and the sounds are getting a bit old now, what would you recommend?
If you’re just getting into effects, I would recommend a multi-effect (Zoom multistomp, Empress Zoia) of some kind so you can test the waters and get a better idea of what you’d be into! The Microcosm is absolutely amazing though and I would always support going there direction.. I made a few videos featuring the pedal and I had a ton of fun while I was borrowing it.
@@SlowHaste hmm that’s a good point. Let me research more into those (although the Zoia is as expensive!) Will check your other videos on the pedal! I thought you owned it! Why don’t you? The reverb is not that good? :)
@@newflanged_ hahah, so I wasn’t aware of it until after stock became a bit scarce, so I ended up trading with someone for a couple of months and recently sent it back. It’s definitely on my short list though, I just have some other synth gear that’s in front of it! And fwiw, the reverb on it is actually pretty amazing lol
@@SlowHaste good to know good to know! Read a review that didn’t like the reverb that much so I was wondering what was your take on it. Ah… this pedal world and my difficult decision to get my first one 😂😂
