This set has been quite a hype even before its release, but I think after I've seen some reviews including yours, it's pretty much justified for the hype. So this set is bassier, has more laid-back vocal.. which cause overall more fun and safer sound, but lacking technicalities compared to SZero.
anyway great review. the great think about this qkz hbb based on my experience, even though the tune elevated and have more emphasis on the low freq, the upper mid is not shouty and the treble is not prone to sibilance. sometimes when some iem boosted that low freq, the high also dragged up make it sound quite piercing. this not the case with this qkz hbb. thanks for the comparison with other hbb collab iem's!
I have a KZ EDX Pro and i find the highs or s/c/z sounds are very piercing to my ears so im kinda looking for a review for QKZ x HBB because i think they are both bass focus Budget IEM and their price are almost the same here, does the HBB's much better than the EDX Pro or ill just stick with my EDX Pro for now? BTW I'm planning to buy the Tangzu Wan'er also but i know Wan'er is not as bassy as HBB and EDX Pro though i know that Wan'er is better.
after a week of research finally a channel that does not go over my head for a total AudioNoob like me. then again its probably BECAUSE of the research and the general idea i got. Or bc you did cover the aspects of the budget iems that i am particularly lookimg for. Thanks anyways. Also how would the Tangzu Wa'ner compare with these both. particilarly the imaging, and stage ( which im still trying to comprehend btw)
Glad I could help! The Wan’er has more clarity and detail because of the way it’s tuned but you lose a little warmth. Soundstage just refers to the sense of space you get. Listen to something like the eagles hotel California from the hell freezes over tour. When a device has more perceived soundstage the crowd and instruments will have a greater sense of layering and space. Hope that helps!
@@hackinghifi4247 although pretty much self explainatory , confused between Sound staging, imaging, layering, etc. ty for explaining. but i figured i'll try to listen and understand once i get my 1st pair of iems.
It is unlikely that people who buy a $20 iem will spend $15 on spinfits so a direct comparison with stock tips is a usefully information that covers 90% of use cases ( sames goes with $15 iems that sounds better on a beefier $100 source, never going to happen)
Unfortunately the way my ears are shaped they didn’t work well at all for me. They may work well for others but I wouldn’t listen to them with stock tips. May just be my ears though. You have a good point though. I do think good tips are worth the investment though, drastically improves sound quality for me.
Sometimes a product isn't working to it full potential unless you buy other things around it it's good to know when a product doesn't work for someone for whatever reason even if it is just their ears being a weird shape
@@Justacapybara9000 the koss can take a surprising amount of juice and improve quality but I don’t mind the kph30 or ksc75 plugged straight into a jack.
kz in the past already make a statement that qkz its not affiliated with kz. resemblance in shape coz maybe it produced from same factory. some info say many chifi iem come from one same factory.
I loved the mele, but sold mine a long ago, want to go back to mele but thinking maybe gonna try this one since you had the comparison. between the two which one would you recommend for now?
The Mele was great when it came out but can’t keep up with these new models. I’d try this or better yet the new Wan’er. I did a video on that too if you want to check it out.
@@hackinghifi4247 already owned wan'er. I just love how laidback the mele was and thinking about buying it again. how about kiwi cadenza? did you try it yet?
@@agantrenown3959 yup my review of the Wan’er also talks about that. I like it more than the Wan’er - not as much bass but very crispy and open with good sense of stage. It’s not like the Mele though.
@@nayemmahmud9269 don't worry, 7hz zero isn't as bright as zsn pro x. I own both and I mostly use 7hz as my daily driver and in gaming. I only use pro x if I want to listen to instrumentals
which one do you think will be better for listening metal 7hz or hbb? im newbie so dont really know much about soundstage and imaging. thanks for the video
Actually it might depend... Some more high tempo metal genres like black/death or even power metal might get crowded with that amount of bass and it might bleed to guitars crunchies and distortions... Some more mid-low tempo like heavy, thrash or even power metal probably would sound cleaner (I'm focusing on the interaction of bass to mid, not high tempo like solo guitars, more like drums and bass guitars crowding the low freqs). HBB himself finds the 7hz more clean with some Black Sabbath's Master of Reality, imagine something ultra crazy as in black metal, his collab could sound muddy. It all depends on what sub-genre and your preferences.
@@vipfernandes94 i mostly listen to death metal like dying fetus, necrophagist, death, veil of maya, meshuggah sometimes i prefer listening guthrie govan clean licks too, so looking for somewhat all round iem ig
The 7hz Zero is pretty good for Metal in general. Very clear and fast with enough bass. I would go for HBB just if you listen to mostly slower sub-genres like Doom, Sludge, Stoner, Groove, Alternative, New/Nu, Grunge etc.
@@tiagorods. I have the Zero and still find it amazing for Grunge, I think both sets would sound really amazing depending on what you prefer in each genre - only in really warmer/bassier genres like EDM, Hiphop stuff the QKZ would definitely kill the Salnotes.
I so bought QKZ x HBB it sounds exactly similar to EDX Ultra/CRA+ I did a review CRA+ definitely has better treble but bit sharp QKZ has more bass Maybe due to the filter they use so QKZ is good
@@hackinghifi4247 yup quite relaxed sound bit but needs -2db less mid bass it sounds exactly similar to EDX Ultra/CRA+ in mids QKZ x HBB vocals are better bodied EdX Ultra sounded a bit cleaner but the treble is annoying ssss sounds so sharp
People who buy 20$ dollar iem won't be buying 15$ tips. You might have access too all these tips cable and expensive source. Most will use a 10$ dongle at max or drive directly from their 300$ smartphone for gaming.
@@hackinghifi4247 its not cca reskin. its a retune from qkz ak6 zeus. everything same except the tuning. from what i heard this is better than esx, dunno which esx tune. great review mate!
Ahh the only video I've come across that suggests these aren't as great for gaming. I got them to test out and felt so lost gaming with them vs my Zero's. Gonna give them a few more tests but my initial impression of them so far is similar to what you outlined
@@hackinghifi4247 I think some of it is also because there's too much bass for me, so I can't quite turn it up as loud as I feel I need for the mids/highs. Feel I wouldn't have been as confused if there wasn't so much bass. They are good though, but I'll probably send them back - or give them to someone who'll appreciate the bass. I've got some Wan Ers coming, then from those I'll decide whether to get some P1 Max's for 80 if I can still find them, as a lot of descriptions of them make them sound more to my preference, which seems to be closer to the zero's than the HBBs...
No this is a different co, QKZ is not KZ, I think they have some competition going on. When I watched HBBs debut of these he made a reference to them being built by the same people who made the Truthear Zeros. I looked it up and found QKZs from quite a few years ago. I’ve got this one on the way now. I think what you’re talking about here might actually come together when he releases the Maka ($35+-)
@@hackinghifi4247 I don’t know myself, but here’s HBBs words as he showed the Truthear Zeros..” the people who made these made these(QDC HBB) trust me I know “. He seemed to have knowledge about them he couldn’t divulge but made it clear he knew. We’ll see if they work for me. I’m still filling my budget line so I thought give it a try. My experience with KZ was very bad, these look a lot like those, but he also talked about that to clear it up. We’ll see soon!!! Later bro, great video!!! Sonny T
You may want to check out the s12 planar set. Much airier presentation and I think very good bass. Just a little spicy at the higher end but the right tips will give you a good balance in my opinion. I found some pancake style ones worked great for me.
@@hackinghifi4247 Thanks for the great recommendation, but I already have the S12, they do sound very good with EQ but the soundstage is sadly still a significant bit behind the OH10s, but the resolution and capabilities are a great refreshment at it's lower price tag. I've been on the lookout for iems with massive and wide soundstage, and came to my conclusion that there are not many, unless you are willing to fork over 2300 dollars for a pair of Sony IER Z1R, or save money and buy a over head Sennheiser HD 800 S. The only set with a wide holographic stage I've found and read about in the 200-300$ range Is the ISN Audio H50's, a reddit user which also used the S12 and some other claimed it to have better sub bass extension and a much more expansive stage, just too bad that there are not many if any reviewers talking about the product. might have to take a risk for it.
@@elyad67 yeah in general the soundstage just isn’t as good on iems as headphones I think it has more to do with the physical design than anything else. Hope you find what you’re looking for!
I had the Ikko OH10 set as well and I share your exact thoughts about the recessed vocals and mid bass...but the soundstage was excellent! For me, personally, the higher-end frequencies of the OH10 were just too sharp in places which led to fatigue pretty quick. I sold them and tried the FHE, but those sounded odd in the upper frequencies to me and lacked stage/depth... Sold the FHE, thought about the S12 (lured in by their airy wide stage) but eventually dismissed them because of reports/reviews of the top-end frequencies maybe being too sharp for some - didn't want to take the chance. I ended up with the Hook-X and I love them... Big wide open stage and fantastic, almost liquid-sounding details within imaging/depth/height/separation. The mid/sub bass attack/rumble/coherency is clean and addictive. Vocals are more present than in the OH10. Also the high-end frequencies are absolutely perfect for me with these treble-sensitive ears.
Actually in fps games QKZ x HBB is much better than 7hz zero as well as in 90% of music It's not about soundstage or imaging It's about accuracy which I got from QKZ I can easily hear the position of footsteps In 7hz zero it definitely wider but weird and much harder to predict and the lack of bass resulted in I couldn't know where the shots of flashes or nades coming from Music wise QKZ easily mostly good vocals and excellent bass I can hear all Instruments in QKZ why do I care about zero 7hz salnotes zero sounds lacking there's a little bit of sub bass nothing special Vocals are not good too boring in September Song 7hz sounds lacking faded soft Like there's no treble soft mids and no bass low end etc QKZ x HBB sounds much better
They definitely do different things better. I disagree on the games, have info that sense of depth is very important to me but may not be for everyone else. They’re both very good sets.
@@chychy4568 original one is better suited for most people at half price and you can grab 7hz Salnotes Zero it sounds better than Khan in general Khan is selling for $38 Qkz x HBB $16 7hz zero $20 You can get a bassy set with a best sounding iem under $50 7hz Zero if you want clarity Khan sounds recessed wide with harshness actually vocals are recessed in Khan and you get harsh treble and less upper treble and little bit of bass 7hz zero is perfectly balanced in bass vocals mids and good upper treble as well it's spakly
