While it would be easy to hide a defensive force and run everyone out of a system like that it would not be possible to hide the size and number of the types of ships needed for a power projection (AKA an attack/invasion fleet) even if no one thought to look for one. A great con certainly but the ending is a bit hollow. He even mentioned alliances of 20-30 species. Naval warfare is built warfare. Any heavy assets take too long to assemble to be considered part of a war strategy. Even in the United States at it's peak WW2 production frenzy (We were putting out approx a new ship every day. Mostly Fletcher class Destroyers and Liberty cargo ships) It still took a couple years to put out a new battleship or carrier.) They would not have been able to attack such large alliances without massive numbers of heavy ship which you can't exactly hide very well. There is a huge difference from a force strong enough to whomp any invader, it's quite another to have a force that can whomp a defender. Another problem is that their potential enemies would be numerous and all have warfleets designed to attack and logic string all conveniently laid at to wage war on the sol system. "The Deal has changed GTFO and we trade with who we will" would likely have worked with some smart trade deals and diplomacy + this newly revealed power. However the "LOL now you have to surrender to us." was a bridge too far. The would have too many enemies coming from too many places and way too spread out for them to even consider open general warfare. And you can bet your ass that these large alliances would take advantage of any situation where Sol fleets weren't on station of had taken a big hit somehow. Even if they had a stating trage agreement and it was their enemies that were fighting the humans.
