I own both and my ankle silver light socks are the only socks I will ever use moving forward. They are awesome

I just picked up 3 pairs of Silverlights ankle height. With a 10% introductory discount, and free shipping, it was only $60 USD. If they don't work out for backpacking, they should make an excellent travel sock.

The Silverlights are new to me, I'll give 'em a try. I've got about half a dozen Darn Tough pairs of socks and for years I've had a good experience with Thorlos, made in North Carolina.

I’ll check them out but their are plenty of them out there. Thorlo, smartwool, Wigwam, Wrightsock (one of my favorites), all USA made. I have all of them.

Great review, but I disagree about your conclusion. Silverlight makes a nice pair of socks, but the first thing I notice, side by side is how absolutely more dense a Darn Tough sock is compared to a Silverlight. The stich count is way higher on a Darn Tough sock, and because of that they are more comfortable and more durable. I have a pair of Darn Toughs that are 5 years old and still look brand new. Also, you can wear them for a week without washing too, they NEVER smell.

I appreciate your feedback - legit. I don't know how much durability matters if they both have the same guarantee (other than the bother of the exchange) - but I know several Silverlight users (former Darntough users) who vouch for the durability - and they prefer them over Darntough. I can't yet testify to this yet, since I've had them for less than a year. But so far... pretty compatible to my Darntough. As for the smell, I've not had the same experience as you - I need to rinse them out every day to keep the odor under control. But - still, you absolutely should be happy with your Darntoughs - good company, good product.
