A tiny hill station called Yelagiri, also known as Elagiri, is situated in Tamil Nadu, India, halfway between the cities of Vaniyambadi and Jolarpettai. The hill station has roots in the era of British colonization.
"The Yelagiri Zamindar Family used to own the entire town of Yelagiri. In the early 1950s, the Indian government took control of it.
Compared to other hill stations in Tamil Nadu, such as Ooty or Kodaikanal, Yelagiri is less developed. Nonetheless, the district government has recently stepped up efforts to turn Yelagiri Hills into a tourism attraction.
