Exellent idea! i used to be a commercial crabber and i built traps like that but on a bigger scale and the 4 openings were made of wire mesh tapered funnels that went in and up at an angle its hard to explain any way great job.
TheBuckness From the Big Island of Hawaii we are currently having a devastation of lava here & it ruined lots of great fishing an speardiving spots. But I made the crab traps to use to catch our crabs here. I use it to catch Ulua fishes at night. It helps alot, really simple a easy to get together🙏
Here in Washington we go wading at low tide and use a plastic manure rake or a pitchfork to scoop up dungeness crab. It is illegal to puncture the crab here. It works really good. Try it out.
are you sure the crabs will push the doors open because in my experience they don't know how to do that yet.I do like a basket trap better to be honest with you and I smoke Marlboro 100s in case anybody was interested.so how do you compare you're trap with a basket trap?????? thank you for your response sir
love it!!! I hate smoking but your reply made my sides hurt I was laughing so hard!!! love your trap. thought it was a joke at first but the trap doors are pretty cool
I'm going to try this. I have a jet boat that isn't really appropriate for fishing and such. There is very little deck space. I think I could create a bunch of these and make them so that they can nest together and take up very little space. Thank you for your submission. Now monetize this video so that you can make some bread my brutha!
That looks great. I just don't think that it is legal to use in Maryland since there is no way for the crabs to escape if the trap is lost or abandoned. I bet it would catch a bunch of crabs too :(
that's my same concern to.. i would think that's classed as a pot and not a trap, what we use when we go is a 1 ft cube size where all 4 sides lay down on the sea floor and it's literally an underwater platform, we zip tie a neck in the middle and run the 30 of them your allowed, use steal wires to attatch to the doors, then they hook to a 1-1.5" swivel and then attach the rope to the swivel, and use a 1 foot piece of a swimming noodle as a float, we're going to give running a trot line a try atleast once this year and see how good we do with that, may try the western side of the bay bridge a couple times, usually run kent narrows, but nothing beats wye river crabs they are hands down the best
+Joseph Evans I didn't write nor vote for the legislation so you'd have to take that up with the state of Florida. For details on what is legal visit their website.
yes it is....this is not a trap you leave for several days....this trap you check every 30 min or so like you would a normal crab "drop net"....then you just let the small ones go
...The first word in a sentence is always capitalized. So are proper names, like, "Einstein"...which YOU misspelled...( We've got the blind leading the blind, here).
