Full Detailed review on 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Includes all the pros and cons of buying the new vehicle. There will be more information branching from this video in other videos. Fourby4diesel
I purchased a 2013 150 Kakadu. 1KD engine. Plenty of torque and half price of a new vehicle. Hopefully it will serve me as well as my 120 Grande that has 470000kms and still going well. Keep the videos coming Anthony. Very informative and interesting. Thanks mate.
Good video. No problem with the key fob on mine 🤷🏻♂️ The key could be buried in the mrs handbag or in my jeans pocket, works fine. Just come back from a 1k km trip towing a van (1.7t) and the fuel eco ranged between 13s and 14s I also noted the oil…black as black. I’ve only done 4K km on mine and had the oil changed on the 1k inspection.
Interesting point regards the remote/key fob, our new Fortuner is giving much the same type of responses you're having with the Prado, thought it might just be just how it is.
2022 GXL. I mainly use the buttons on the rear door. I have found sometimes it won’t work and then I’ll turn my body so the key is closer and it will work. I think mainly when locking. Missus reckons she hasn’t had any dramas using the handles. We have both noticed the range with using the button is rubbish compared to our 2019 RAV4.
My 2021 GXL unlocks fine with the fob in my pocket, no issues there like you. However I did find that when driving if one of the kids gets out and after they shut their door (I'm in the drivers seat, engine still running) it does not detect the key, sometimes I have to take out my pocket and place by the start button. I replaced the battery but not much better, I think it could be due to interference from some of the electrical mods I did!
I have also had a few issues with my 21 vx Prado all around the key remote and locking, like you the distance is too short. But my worst issue is that the car intermittently wont lock even when I am right next to the car. I have noticed when this happens it will not lock until the courtesy lights go off, as soon as they go off it locks first time. I have reported this to the dealer after having the car for a month and the next 2 services they say it works for them. So the last time I took a video of this problem, they havent heard of this issue before. The only thing I thought that may interfere with the electrics is I have had a dash cam installed and hardwired for parking more with a Blackvue Power Magic Pro, I am not sure, but it is a pain as in the mornings I need to stand beside the car for around 30 seconds sometimes in the rain before it will lock,
Hi, love the videos mate 👍🏻 I have a 2018 uk spec car and the dealer said the gearbox (6-speed auto) oil never needs replacing and will last the life of the vehicle. Isn’t that BS ?
Hey mate, thanks for the review loved it. I have a 2021 GXL as a work car and every time I wash it I have the fob in my pocket and it continually locks and unlocks. I thought it was just my hip pushing the button but I would never leave the fob/key in the car if it was anywhere near water. Hey what rims have you got there please. I've ordered a Graphite still waiting, cheers
Very interested about your comments regarding the transmission in the latest Prado. I'm thinking about trading in my 2020 Hilux on a new Prado but hesitant because I cant stand the way the transmission behaves in the Hilux and I'm sick to death of manually overriding the shift to stop the EXTREME revving going down hills. Anyway, I contacted Toyota Australia and specifically asked if the transmission has been re-mapped or changed in anyway from the previous model and they are telling me it's exactly the same. Got the same answer from the local dealership. Doesn't exactly instil confidence when they don't know their own product.
I have a 2021 and the key fob struggles to work similar to how you've described it. Let me know if you find out more info about it im just persisting with it for now
Even though the battery should have been you I put new batteries in it has improved marginally but still does all the weird stuff and doesn’t Work often
I was hoping you were gonna do this review 😬. You mentioned the oil was very black, but as these 1GD’s do frequent passive burn off’s, have you noticed a rise in oil level or engine oil dilution at all ? Awesome video like usual, thanks for being honest & sharing the info Anthony 👍🍻🍻
I have a December 2021 gxl I brought I. February it’s going in for it first 10.000 service I love it had it since 5km on the clock nice car to drive but the dpf burn all the time shits me every 400km it does it
I own 2013 hilux 1kd from new 300,000km serviced my self runs fantastic just did injectors little slow 1st gear take off but has olot of grunt overall might do egr manifold clean top car not selling
Interesting on electronics issues (especially of your offroad). I am onto my 2nd 120 Prado GXL V6. 1st was a white 04 5sp manual and loved that Prado but my wife wanted an Auto, so sold it a couple of yrs ago for $20k. Bought a mint condition 07 black V6 GXL Auto for $20k (which included rear draws, harrop rear diff locker, redark BCDC dual battery system, redark tow kit, clarion touchscreen headunit). I swapped out the headlights to black binnacle LED, swapped out rear tailights to LED, Upgraded suspension & wheels, Shortie extractors & full custom mandrel bent S/Steel exhaust and the car is now the perfect allrounder for shopping duties, towing duties (we have a Coromal Seka dual axle poptop 18') and offroad duties. I actually prefer the style/look of the 120 Prado over the 150 and also having 180 litre fuel capacity & ease of working on the V6 versus the diesel
The revised 150kw 1GD is different to the engine it superseded. The block, piston, head design are all different and the turbo is bigger and ball bearing. One would assume the changes were made by Toyota to rectify to issues in the original 1GD.
Very very informative, thanks mate. I test drove a 2022 GXL recently and to my disappointment it felt extremely underpowered. Don't know if I should buy one at all. I am currently driving an old V6 Camry which is excellent on highways.
May be an issue with the keyless antenna or the key fob transmitter, i have seen powerlines and places like train stations which have a big electromagnetic field nearby that can cause interruption of signals between the two. Just a guessnostic thought though.
I have same issue since day one… 6 months old, changed new CR2032 battery around 3 months. Still same shxt… lucky if I get 2-3 meters range… and press multiple times to lock & unlock…
I’m waiting on my 2021 150 prado , just received a email saying it’s being built in Japan ready for May.I was wondering your thoughts on a torqit exhaust as a upgrade to the original Thanks
Great channel I just serviced my at 10k at nunawading To#ota 🤬🤬🤬, it seems these days its just to bloody hard to undo a sump bolt and let the engine oil drain .l scratch oil filter and marked sump bolt they denied it at the start , confessed it at the end when l told them l have pictures before and after (pump it out of the engine)they just got to busy . Technicians more like Labours First time I've owned a Toyota ,first time l had it serviced by Toyota Last the that's for sure . No issue with the key fob works great from a distance as well about 10 meters . Love the bible part ☦☦
