i think when it comes to the food, the effects should last longer like they do in real life. of course depending on what kind of food you eat. the benefits only lasting 30 minutes doesn't really make any sense, if it was more like a few hours, this would make the most sense. and skooma should last all day like it were like coffee, but if you drink more than one, is when the seeing things should happen along with hyper sensitivity and headaches, but they have the potential to get worse when you don't get your next fix after a day as you need more and are quick to feel weak because it's a need to have more skooma.

Apart from adding another level of difficulty, I enjoy survival mods because they slow the game down. It's kind of goofy that you can travel across Skyrim and run through 12 dungeons without stopping. Having needs makes your character stop and rest or return to the nearest town.

Yes, it also adds a layer of preparation and forces you to plan ahead insteaed of just jumping into everything head on. I love how there's finally an incentive for me to actually think through what my plan is, what's the best way to achieve it and how do I do it. It may be a small thing but buying torches, food and potions, crafting bandages and other misc items and generally just going through a checklist before departing for a dungeon is super fun for me. And once inside, slowing the game down by walking slowly with precaution, having you and your team just scout ahead with torches and then scour every nook and cranny instead of running through the dungeon. Making small camps, unfolding your bedrolls and putting together a small fire in a barred off room, with one of your companions keeping watch so that you're not ambushed. This is the roleplay for which I love Skyrim

Also having a reason to stop at small towns in general is just, immersive Like I love the idea of having to stop at a random inn cause my characters tired, or a random town because I need more supplies, etc Now I just need a good weapon durability mod and I'll be rollin

Tbh I find myself collecting and gathering stuff to prepare for a bigger quest or such which already takes up a lot of time in between, all the traveling to different merchants and blacksmiths to get the right recourses and so on, for me a survival needs mod would just slow the game down way too much I don’t like it. But that’s just my opinion

I like it because it seriously shakes up the core gameplay loop Base Skyrim 1. explore 2. kill 3. loot 4. repeat steps 1-3 until inventory full 5. sell With Frostfall, etc. 0. decide where to explore 1. gear up 2. cook 3. explore 4. set up camp 5. kill 6. loot 7. rest 8. pack up 9. repeat steps 0-8 until inventory full _or_ until supplies run out 10. sell

Nice thing about SunHelm is you can toggle in the MCM which features you want to keep or disable including each indivual need. It's honestly why I switched over to it from other survival mods. It also doesn't require a gorillion bugfix patches to make the mod functional like the AE Survival addon does. The default preset for SunHelm also isn't nearly as brutal as frostfall, so it's rather difficult to kill yourself wandering around outside.

Word of caution! Mern recommends Immersive Horses in combination with Carry Your Carcasses for added hunting immersion. In my own personal experience however and from some other accounts I've read online, Immersive Horses and Campfire do not always play well together. And while it's really never advisable to remove mods mid playthrough, both Campfire and IH are mods you REALLY can't get rid of. Make sure you thoroughly playtest before starting a game with them together.

I had this one mod that when you die you could use a dragon soul to res yourself. That coupled with a mod that made random dragon encounters more rare led to some interesting game play.

Great Video. If I may make one suggestion for a little know mod that does something no other mod I've seen does. May I introduce you to Dark Corners of Nirn,which introduces a stress system. Similar to system from Darkest Dungeon you will now not only have to worry about your characters physical,but also mental health.

Good video. I tried Sunhelm first. While I liked especially the HUD, my problem with it was that it was almost not noticeable. The moment, I closed and went for another mod was, when I figured, I could swim through a river without any punishment at all. I also very much missed the food spoiling. But I see how this can be a good choice for a "jack of all trades" modded profile. I then tried Last Seed + Frostfall, and I very much love their features. I just wish, they weren't so script-heavy.

Survival mode tip: if you have the Ordinator mod, get the Alteration perk "Vanacian magic". You can only cast a fixed number of spells per day, but they cost no magicka so you don't have to worry about running out of magicka when you're exhausted.

Plus it DOUBLES spell efficiency, which is still one of the most overpowered buffs added by a Mod Perk. And if you cleverly mix that with other spells, and effects, you can essentially become a spell casting God.

regarding fast travel. I disable it completely and it only works when you either use a carriage or boat (carriage and ferry overhaul) or when you're on a dragon (real time dragon fast travel)

I have temperature mod, food mod, skinning mod, crafting mods but also economy mods like scarcity, and the one that reduces the cost of goods if you sell similar ones to stores, also trade and barter and trade routs. Campfire mod, many more ingredients from animals mod. Also a few mods that allow collecting of wood and chopping trees down into wood. Have a few building mods, along with jaxons positioner to place anything anywhere in game. Fishing sux in game, and I wish we had a better fishing mod. At least something along the lines of the fishing in the legend of zelda ocarina of time, which was on n64 for crying out loud. Can't be that hard to make.

Just a headsup @mern, Sojourn over signposts is a flawed mod because it has an error that reoccurs as your account progresses. Eventually all signposts become non-interactable unless you do 2 console commands and you end up having to do it every time you want to. I only found out this is common after using it and experiencing this issue myself and hitting up forum posts. The reason I comment is you feature it in a lot of videos.

My ideal immersive mod, in regards to eating, drinking, sleeping and staying warm/dry, would be one that doesn't debuff you when you are badly maintained, or at least not heavly debuffed but rather slifhtly buffed, like a 1.05 buff if you maintain yourself healthy. Similar to a mod i fou d about sharpening your sword and hammering your armor to give it a slight boost
