I’ve watched many incense fragrance reviews & let me tell you this was just outstanding…a bit of history, mixed with some hidden gems & criminally underrated houses…great stuff man!👍
a side note: Al Luban means gum not milk in arabic, because some kinds of luban of resins were used to be chewed back in the day and some are still used as such. Salute.
I couldn’t agree more on Leau trois. In fact, most fragrances of the same house I own is this one. And do keep those Italian gems coming. We need Italian things in life to survive.
What a fantastic video Dimitri! No one ever mentions Sideris, it's one of my absolute favorite fragrances! I'm so glad you love it too 🌸 Have you tried Caftan by YSL? Another gorgeous one! I like your arabic pronunciations 😊
Now this is a review!!!! So much to learn. Thank you for putting this video together. I think a may try the Diptyque one since I can get a sample of it very easily. I hope you can choose the best one for a female for me to try......
I have relatively sizeable incense collection. It all started for me with Gucci pour Homme back in 2000s. In recent years I jumped on the fragrance collecting train and search for replacement of the now-discontinued gem led me down the rabbit hole of ultimate incense perfume (with all the usual suspects you have mentioned and more...). I thought there was nothing else to learn. Man, you proved me so wrong! Five entirely new fragrances! Including one from Diptyque, house that I thought I knew! All mentioned in no-bullshit video, free of gimmick, packed with so much information! I really appreciate your style of reviewing. You manage to describe the scents in objective categories, comparing with other perfumes, specific raw materials or aromachemical. I'm subbed now and looking forward to watch your other videos. I hope your channel gets many new viewiers soon, because frankly - there is no competition if you stick to this kind of content. Thank you and all the best!
Nice list. I just ordered Eau Sacree from Heeley. I’ve heard great things about it. Hopefully it’s nice…blind bought it based of reviews. Sound be in next week
I LOVE CHOPARD BLACK INCENSE MALAKI!!! A beautiful combination of incense, leather and Oud. This is a VERY masculine fragrance that I get soooooo many compliments with. You just can't go wrong with this one. I also have CHOPARD OUD MILAKI, which smells very similar but not as leathery. Also, AFNAN SUPREMACY IN INCENSE is another AMAZING incense fragrance that is super affordable. I GREATLY appreciate you making this video my friend and truly hope all is well with you. Be well and I will see you in your next video.
Hey Giuseppe! I bought it's sample by accident. Comparing to other incense perfumes this one is the sweetest one, I mean literally :) Not my cup of tea, I'm more into cold dry LAVS for Filippo Sorcinelli, but still interesting
👏👏👏👏 good work !! Good lesson 👍 Resins and incense are my favourite . Mastic oil is the exclusive resin of my home town Chios ! Best wishes from Greece 💙
Yessss to a video about fragrances that smell most like the authentic material 🙌🏼. Very well done, Dimitri, enjoyed every minute of this video and learning about the perfumer’s process in making an incense-based fragrance.
Glad to have found your channel while researching Diptyque L'Eau Trois. I found a discounted bottle and ordered it. The main site doesn't have it anymore so I assume it's discontinued. I know I'll love it. This house has not let me down yet. Thank you for your contribution to the fragrance community!
You make me so happy, I have to say thx alot🤗, as a traditional way we use incense ( Al luban) daily, and we use it as a fixitive when burned and apply it over clothes and then we spray clothes by any fragrance that we like, this best way how to fix the fragrance 🤗, thx alot and I like u so much, I gave all appreciation to houses of fragrances in Italy bcs I found Italian brands are really underrated 👌
My current favorite incense fragrances are: La liturgies des heures (jovoy) and Baruti Perverso. I have a bottle of Bois d'encens from Armani privé, I like it a lot and it's actually quite long lasting on me. I bought it years ago in a middle eastern airport though, maybe it is an old formulation. I recently purchased Incense Wood from Ajmal, I love it but it is a soft/sweet/woody incense fragrance, much more discrete than I expected. I'm definitely gonna check your recommandations
Great picks! My favorite incense fragrances are Lavs by Filippo Sorcinelli , Full Incense by Montale, Black Tourmaline by Olivier Durbano, Jubilation XXV by Amouage the original version, Voile d'encens by Motif Olfactif and Bois d'Ascese Naomi Goodsir.
Wonderful video, thanks! In Greece we use Francinsense burnt on charcoals for religious occasions. It is also vastly used by Greek-Orthodox Christian Church. Stay safe!
Are you a chemist?! Or a permfumer!? I only know one single person with this knowledge in perfumery, but more or less, her job is history related, therefore the info. But, I can tell that you are really "the real deal' when it comes to "how" it smells :) + history + some herbology :)) +++ :)
An incense lover here. Thanks for your video. Never heard of these fragrances and Def want to try it. I have Comme De Garcons Avignon (which you briefly mentioned) and Montale Full Incense which is full on churchy incense. Also have Comme De Garcons Floriental (Plum and Resins), Amouage Jubilation 25, and kalemat black by Arabian Oud (incense, amber, vanilla, oud). I also have a sample of Petra from Masque Milano and also want to try Mandala by Masque Milano.
A very interesting, out of the ordinary list. May I suggest you to try Freyja by Tonatto? Very liturgical incense mixed with benzoin. Other incences I love: Reve d'Ossian, La Liturgie des Heures, Casbah and Incenso d'oriente by Spezierie Palazzo Vecchio (this has an absolutely fantastic price Vs quality ratio). I agree with your tastes.
I would be very interested to hear your opinion of the fragrance Olibanum from Profumum Roma, and how it compares to the actual olibanum that you show in the beginning of this video.
Hi Dimitri I am dying to know your top 3 perumes (for woman or unisex) in each of the following house: 1) Chanel les exclusifs 2) Guerlain l art et la matiere 3) Maison Lancôme 4) Frederic Malle 5) Dyptique 6) Amouage 7) Armani privé 8) Tom ford private blend 9) Zoologist 10) Atelier Cologne 11) MFK 12) Christian Dior private line 13) By kilian 14) YSL privé 15) Creed 16) Initio 17) Roja 18) Xerjoff and Sospiro 19) Nishane And what is you top 15 ever in designer fragrances for woman? A video would be better!!!!😁
I care about the price to quality ratio. I’m a consumer, so I will not support brands that amp up their prices for products that aren’t functional. I noticed this theme with the Armani Privee line...
Armani is unknown? Wow, it can be found literally everywhere. Awesome video, love your explanations! What about Incensi by Lorenzo Villoresi? It’s also fruity-citrusy kinda smell. Cardinal by James Heeley is also amazing one. Medittorosa by Osang should also be nice according to my friends, however, I didn’t have a chance smelling it. Any thoughts on this one?
According to Wiktionary, the root of the word Olibanum isn't "Al Luban" but rather "from Latin oleum libani (“oil of Lebanon”)". Seems difficult to say which origin is correct...
This video became my intro into the world of incense fragrances, thanks you! For now my top is: - Flippo Sorcinelli: Lavs (you kinda have to get used to it, it's dry and bright, but on skin it's WOW) - L'eau Trois: I absolutely love the scent, but it dies very quickly :( - Comme des Garsons: Zagorsk (I'm russian so this one is dear to my heart, but again it fades away in 1 hr, super sad) - Jovoy Paris: La Liturgie Des Heures (I prefer it more to CdG Avignon) - Filippo Sorcinelly: Quando Rapita in Estasi (very sweet and calming, like an old chubby nun hugs you :)
@@brunocabrini2929 hey Bruno! you'll be glad to hear that I bought 2ml tester and loved it! smells really similar to La Liturgie des Heures by Jovoy but much more piny! thank you, friend ❤️
@@crabcoreable very happy to hear it! Copal azur is very high quality incense.. The nose of the fragrance is really into that :) In my opinion is actually the same kind of incense you can find on squid by zoologist (but this is also marine and little sweetened.. But I love it)
@@brunocabrini2929 may I also recommend you one particular and very unobvious perfume: Timbuktu by L'artisan Parfumeur. Incense, Mango, Pepper. Very mystical, warm and spicy. Feels like a kiss from a passionate dangerous yet religious woman in a hot summer night.
Added to Favorites for future reference, as I've been on a search for the best incense fragrance. Just ordered 03. Apr. 1968 by Rundholz. I liked the sample enough to buy a full bottle. Have you ever tried that one?
There are about 20 different species of Boswellia. The ones you name are only the ones that are important as an incense. But there are many more like B. ameero, B. bullata, B. nana etc.
Devi provare assolutamente Reliquia di Filippo Sorcinelli se ti piace l'incenso, profumo pazzesco 🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝 Filippo Sorcinelli e' il re delle fragranze incensate
Tauer has also very nice Incense Flash in his Tauerville collection. I would recommend to get a hold of that one. It is quite an affordable alternative - high quality natural smelling dry woody incense. To me it is to-date the most autjentic rendition of Omani incense I smelled. (For record - I had not tried any of Dimitri's tips in the video just yet - which made my day and will definitely result in quite some near-term purchases)
@@Rozzjd you lousy internet troll, I had UNUM and sold it, wasn't good enough for me, now go in a corner and cry. You smelled one decent fragrances and now you proclaim yourself the nose-father of all incense fragrance, all time connaisseur aggressing people for not falling in line with your limited taste. Ape.
