I actually interpreted Darby's mispronounciation as intentional, as a way to disrespect the Joestar name and also taunt Joseph because of how they tried mispronouncing Darby's name to distract him
Saying someone's name wrong in public it's a well known technique to low their confidence when they brag too much, professional casino players are very familiar with it. Joseph uses it as well, calling Darby as Barbie and other similar names.

Jotaro speaks fluent English. His mother, grandparents, wife and daughter are all American. And the other Crusaders like Polnareff would probably not understand Japanese, so they must have been communicating in English. Not to mention that he and Dio were able to understand each other, and Dio is British.
They really did an amazing job of capturing all of the emotions he must have been feeling in that face. Like "I'm gonna see my sister again... OH FUCK I'M GONNA SEE MY SISTER?"
